It is interesting. I don't love the idea due to the breakup with Miles, but at least we would know that we had the brains behind the only team to make the dance in a long long time. And it was with a team without much program development. I can see scenarios where that hire would work out well. It would not be near the top of my list of preferences though.

Miles is retained what does the team look like
royalfan replied to Ron Mexico's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I am with you, other than I could see Roby coming back no matter what because he doesn't want to go to NBA to try to improve draft spot, and doesn't want to go down a level to get zero exposure. I could see him being here no matter who is the coach potentially. -
I never said there isn't a lot involved in building a program. So don't try and counter your losing argument with that nonsense. Was simply making a point that is not near the impossibility to win here that some were making it out to be. 15 versus 5 was simply an example of that. You were struggling to grasp the comparison for some reason. Call it a day. I explained it. No need to bring up more BS that I didn't even say. We get it. You think it is impossible. I don't. I believe you will be proven wrong in time when we get a good coach one day. Hopefully it is this time.

Not sure all of this is factually correct. Utah St fans were blocking the path for Nevada to get to the locker room through their own tunnel directly to their room. Security led them to the Utah St side so they had to go by the Utah St. locker room. It was alleged that a Utah St. assistant coach said something out of line to the Nevada player and then things escalated to what was seen on the video. Had security done a better job to have a path for them to leave this could have been avoided it sounds like.

Back on the subject of player development. I agree with the OP that our staff has been very bad at this. When it is always said how hard it can be to recruit here, then we sure as hell need the players we are getting to get better while they are here. It is a hard thing to quantify and I hope that the decision makers have a good idea of the importance of this and can identify someone that is good at it. If we don't get a brand name coach, this box needs to be checked. I don't think it was a strength of any of our recent coaches.

Well I certainly can promise you that Creighton takes the game more seriously than they do a majority of their conference games. They have traditionally displayed much better defensive gameplans and played harder defensively than they have in their league games. On the flip side, we sure haven't treated it as such. Hskr4life is correct from the standpoint it isn't as important as a conference game as our team has sure as hell not treated like it is. JeffsBall is correct from the standpoint that it absolutely should be treated as a more important game than a conference game. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what is considered the bigger game. The Creighton game is a big deal. It is time we win our fair share of them.

I did in the my initial post. You are the only on struggling to grasp it. If you had, all of this could have been avoided. I will try one more time. 1. I said that there are 5 people on a basketball court, not 15 people which is the level of difficulty that some people here are making this job out to be. (I assume you understand that the more people on a court or playing field, the tougher the task will be to win. If need some help with that concept, I can explain it further) 2. I said it isn't that hard to win here immediately thereafter. Therefore it means that it isn't THAT Hard(as hard as it would be if there were 15 people on a court) to win here. When you say something like it isn't THAT hard, you are obviously comparing it to something. Otherwise you would simply say "It isn't hard to win here." In this case, my comparison was the 15 people on a court example that I gave right before it. Hopefully that clears it up for you.

This is all very true. Ron cannot grasp that fact these coaches have been really mediocre to downright bad. His brain cannot get by the fact that it is possible to win here with good coaching, because we couldn't with bad coaching. He also couldn't grasp the fact that we were never going to get to the promised land under Bo and thinks Miles should be coaching and Henson is a candidate. It probably isn't worth taking him all that seriously I am quickly realizing.
-
IN THE EXACT SENTENCE BEFORE THAT IS THE CONTEXT!! Just as I said last post. It isn't that hard to win here as it would be if we had to play 15 people!!! Wow. Not that surprising from a guy that thinks Miles should still be coaching and had Henson on a coaching list. Holy smokes. Can't make it up folks.

Exactly right. It doesn't make any difference if they have ties here or not. They need to be able to coach, develop, and recruit well. Having a tie to Nebraska is near the bottom of any list of important traits we need our new coach to excel at. Your list of names is a tremendous one. One has some ties to Nebraska and that is not among the reasons why I want him.
-
Correct, they are all badly flawed coaches. They would not perform up to expectations anywhere. I wouldn't be calling out anyone, with all the stupid things you are saying in here. And if your reading comprehension was decent, you would take the statement in context. I said it isn't that hard to win here after saying that some are acting like there are 15 people on a basketball court. Not all that complicated for most to understand.

Some of you guys act like there are 15 guys on a basketball court. It is five people folks. It is not that hard to win here. We just haven’t found the right coach. If smith were still here with miles then we had one. Turns out that smith actually was the brains behind the operation. Sorry @49r. Have to have a guy that isn’t outmatched on the game strategies, understands analytics to overcome talent gaps, can develop players, and can recruit or have a staff that excels at it. Our last four coaches have had gaping holes in multiple of those areas. That is why we haven’t won. Not because it cannot be done here. That is comical.

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 11; ed 29 - @ Michigan
royalfan replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Yeah been beating this drum for a long time about how bad Miles is at player development. Caught a lot of slack for it many times. I stick by it. He is crazy bad at it. How you cannot help guys at least not get worse at shooting while they are here is truly mind boggling.
