  1. The real conference ratings as I see them(yes I understand, that some teams have beaten other teams rated ahead of them) 1. Michigan St. 2. Iowa 3. Wisconsin 4. Michigan 5. Ohio St. 6. Minny 7. VERY CLOSE between 7-11 but give lean to Indiana 8. Illinois 9. Nebraska 10. Penn St. 11. Purdue 12. NW
  2. After reading this board the last couple of days i figured we had a really good shot to beat PSU. I was somewhat surprised to see them favored by 5 last night. Just because we can win doesn't mean we will. Coin flips don't always go your way. After doing some research it seems one of the reasons that our RPI is so high is because we have lost to so many good teams. They were not favored by 5 last night. They were favored by 3 last night. They have been bet up to 5. And people betting Penn St. are not square bettors. Large difference than opening at 3 and staying there. And people that say they don't care about the line. That is fine and dandy. But there is no better indicator of what is most likely to happen. We are likely to win slightly more than 1 in 3 times. Penn St. needs to shoot the ball average or worse from deep or it will be extremely tough to win. They are a better team than record indicates. They are better than NW and Purdue IMO.
  3. Easier to win a game at home without a key player. Very common for backup players to step up and play well at home. Doesn't happen as often on the road.
  4. I don't agree as much with this move though just saying it is successful people that moved it. I should have played it at 3 but will pass now most likely. Nu can win the game. Just not terribly likely.
  5. Nope not close to correct. It was on nebraska getting 8. Easy selection for smart handicappers.
  6. Smart money has moved if to 4.5. Don't get hopes up. This is going to be tough.
  7. Yep. Nothing wrong at all to discuss what is needed to go to NCAA tourney. If creighton fans are too damn stupid to understand the difference between discussion and thinking we are going, then that is their problem for being so stupid. The goal always us the dance. And taking about it is normal and should happen, no matter how far away it is.
  8. Penn St. a 3 point favorite.
  9. Most idiots on the message board are delusional, especially the ones in the delusional thread which is incredibly funny. Probably the dumbest set of posters I have ever seen on a message board.
  10. We aren't terribly likely to win this game and will not be favored to win the game either. They are pretty good at getting open threes. They make them we are obviously in deep trouble. We are going to have to relentlessly attack the rim with the lack of shot blocking to have a decent chance. We get in a three point shooting contest with them we likely lose. Frazier is very fast and very good at setting up open threes with his penetration. Need to try and make him more of a shooter than a distributor of clean 3's. Hungry team. I don't think we will win, but believe we can if we create good spacing and attack rim relentlessly.
  11. You can say Rey did nothing in the first half - but at the beginning of the game OSU made him the focus of their defense with Craft chasing him all over. That is what opened up those driving opportunities for Webster and Biggs. Later shifted Craft from Gallegos to Biggs and Webster and we probably should have done a better job then going to Rey. Overall though even if he is not scoring other teams are aware of Rey and know that he is the one player on our team that they have to keep from getting open looks off screens. Bingo.
  12. Completely disagree on Parker especially. Gallegos so much better than him it is mindboggling. You have to have guys that are a threat to do something on the court. We are getting creamed with Parker out there. Cannot believe people(including Miles) think he should be playing so much. I don't think he should be playing at all.
  13. They don't have shot blockers, so we need to have good spacing and relentlessly attack the rim.
  14. We are going to have some problems Thursday unfortunately. This is going to be a very hungry team at home. I hope I am wrong, but this doesn't set up well IMO.
  15. Hopefully this doesn't come off too harshly on Miles, as I think he is great for our program, but there were some things I completely disagree with on your report card. 1. Our zone was horrific. They turned it into a layup drill for the most part. All kinds of driving lanes and open threes(which thankfully they missed). Our man to man defense was excellent. Not sure why we played the zone so long when it was getting killed. Also we need to play taller in the zone. Arms need to be in the air. And then while I get Petteway needed to grab pine for a short stretch after 3 turnovers in a row, you don't bring Parker in for 10 minutes while the lead goes completely away. I am not big into plus minus, and it isn't Parker's fault he is on the court as he does give effort, but it is killing us. We probably got outscored by about 15 with him out there tonight. He should rarely play. But we did show great effort and the man to man defense improvement was awesome. Not in terrible disagreement with the grades, but certainly don't agree that our zone is worth a damn. And I don't agree at all with playing Parker for large minutes. Great win and hopefully a building block. Learning to win is not easy.
  16. Pitchford the biggest disappointment for me as I was expecting him to be way better for some reason. Shields has playing horrible basketball, but I tend to think it is a slump more than ability going away. Not pleased at all with where we are at right now. Don't see any scenarios where I would expect us to have more losses than this and many where we would have less losses.
  17. Not a bad thought...but my opinion on that is that even when off Gallegos demands attention from the defense every single game...every time down the court. Webster...right now...doesnt draw the same attention. As it stands even when not playing great Gallegos opens things up for Petteway, Biggs, and Smith who seemingly are the only other players who can currently consistently score on this team. Yeah exactly right. We need to play Gallegos as much as he can handle and green light him and try and get him as many clean looks as he can handle.
  18. Disagree completely on the coaching. I thought it was one of the worst games he coached. No excuse whatsoever to have Parker in there, let the game start to slip and then still have him out there after the time out. Ridiculous mangling of the rotation by Miles tonight. Very frustrating.
  19. Was horrible coaching by Miles to have Parker out there. That was the part of the game where it got away from us. I know some like his game for some reason and believe he belongs. But I don't see it and we were horrific for that stretch he was out there in the 2nd half. Love Miles but he mangled the rotations at that point where we couldn't afford to.
  20. Dude is a block machine. Come for the Atewe, stay for the Henderson. You know, lots of people don't like Marshall Henderson, but I think he's pretty entertaining to watch. Won't be watching him tonight. Out I believe.
  21. Michigan getting pounded in Vegas. Went from 3.5 to 6 of late. I liked Nebraska at four and feel like an idiot being on wrong side of a line move. Typically not a recipe for success. Question is now, do I go more? Anyone know anything about any news?
  22. The kid is from Omaha, recruited from Nebraska, and went to Louisville. I don't understand anyone's rational who thinks he would want to come back when he already had the chance to be here. You don't see the logic behind a kid going a long ways from home, deciding he wants to play closer to home, and then coming home to do that? Seems like it is fairly straight forward logic and happens a lot. I don't see the logic in thinking the dude is going to transfer here because he was suspended for a few games when he hadn't given any indication (that I know of) that he was unhappy and wanted to leave. Completely different issue. I have no reason to believe he wants to leave either. But if one makes an assumption that a kid does want to leave, it is a logical deduction he would consider wanting to play closer to home IMO. You have no reason to believe he wants to leave, but assuming he wants to leave makes sense? I got the feel from several posts in this thread that people were making more of this than a hypothetical. Maybe I read it wrong. Yeah it does make sense to speculate in a thread that is based on speculation. And it makes even more sense to say that if he were to transfer(like many players do) that it would be a reasonable assumption that going closer to home would be an option. You would be fooling yourself to believe otherwise.
  23. I was a primary defender of Petteway during the tourney when people were all over him. Some saying we would be better without him. Obviously that was absurd. However, I don't think he has improved much since then like some do. He is still taking the same shots. He is just making more than he did down there. What I want to see is him become a team leader. A guy that does the dirty jobs. Like lead the charge on defense. He is not leading like I would like. If he wants to be the man on offense with the green light to make plays, then I would like to see him take charge on defense. We are far more capable of playing better defense than last year. We need an identity, and I think it starts with him on both ends. While it seems absurd, we still can go 8-8 in the league. Then win a couple games at the tourney and we are in the conversation. How well we can learn to buy in on defense will dictate those chances. And lets face it, we are going to have to be a school that thrives on defense to be good year in and year out. That is how Wisconsin has turned into a major factor. We have to be able to play that end. And I am very frustrated with what I have seen.
  24. First of all I don't watch "highlights" and secondly I don't agree with that analysis at all. Many freshmen peak at the end of the season. And he more than peaked. He dominated in the biggest games there are anywhere in college hoops. So I think it is an extremely good argument actually. I want a guy that was a proven force in the biggest games any day of the week. You don't like guys that do that, then that is your choice.
