I have yet to be impressed with one game of petteways. Yeah I do and I still think it was dumb. We are not better without him. It is even more absurd now than it was when I said it in early stages of game Thursday. He was very productive after that.

I think you might be right, but to carry my point Carmelo is most times the best player on his team but there are lesser players make other teams better. Petteway doesn't make his teammates better. He wants to take the whole game into his hands and he is no Melo. Both of those players need the ball in their hands so much to be effective that they detract from what the other players can contribute. I don't think it has to be permanent condition, but right now he needs to pass the damn ball and let the game come to him. For now the offense stagnates as soon as he touches it, and by definition motion offenses cannot do that and be an effective motion offense. What is best for him is not what is best for the team. There are times that this team will need him to go get a basket, but it can't be as often as it is right now. The offense operated the most efficiently today when he was on the bench in foul trouble and look at the end of the game again. He does hit a bad three but then misses on three consecutive trips and UAB got much easier looks at the other end of the floor and pulls away. We know what Mello is. Sample size a little bit too small on Petteway to make that comparison comfortably. It could be that he is being told to do that. It will become more clear as time goes on. I don't think the Mello comparison will end up being valid, but I can at least understand the thought at this point.

Disagree on Petteway costing us the ball games. Disagree in a big way. He was easily our best player. Not close.

Me too. He was a huge positive IMO. He needs to help us generate toughness on defense though. That aspect needs to be led by him also if he is indeed our team leader.

Defensive was an F for sure. Think offense was better than a D+ and ball handling sure did not seem to be a big issue to me. If we were in the game most of the game against a solid team something had to have been better than those grades I would think. But I was not talking about you overreacting, I am talking about all of us. There is going to be a lot of it both good and bad.

UAB certainly better than most thought, myself included. Frazier was a nice Juco gem they found themselves.

He is going to have to be clear that whoever wants to play d is going to play the most.

I posted this concern a while back. Miles is going to have to play guys that want to get stops. And figure out a way to make them succeed on offense. We have no chance if we are going to give up layups all day.

These games remind me of when we played New Mexico st in the dance many moons ago. Just a dunk and lay up fest.

Yeah that is what I hate about it. Same for us early when Petteway got the call. You shouldn't get rewarded with a block call for flying in like a chicken with your head cut off.

Not saying that was a charge necessarily but I am sick of this crap that they never think one is. And then randomly at critical moment they call a charge yesterday on us that wasn't even one ever.

I am in the minority but I kind of like Petteway being Miles go to guy. The guy you just let do his thing and take the good with the bad.

Stating the obvious but Biggs is one hell of an athlete, which most of us knew. And frankly a much better player than I was expecting. That is encouraging. He is better than Webster right now it seems.
