3 seed and you are correct about the higher you are the better the chances are. Wichita and Kansas were easily more deserving of that location.

Most Anticipated Season since '92?
royalfan replied to Handy Johnson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
So frustrating watching Nee get outcoached by Nolan Richardson. Not easy to do. Not easy to watch? Or not easy to out coach Nee? Not easy for Nolan to outwit someone. Usually it was just 40 minutes of hell no matter what. But Lue was making it hell for them, so they slowed the game down in second half. 2nd half was certainly not easy to watch. -

That was one of the most amazing games I have ever seen. Somehow overcome Ned Yost ineptitude.

Per Stumer for Loyoloa Marymount of Loyola Marymount glory days comes to mind. Declared early, only to find that there was no market in the NBA for a guy that can get the ball out of hoop quickly and inbound it.

Agreed. There are a ton of swing men that either handle the ball better or shoot better than he does. You need to do one or the other extremely well to be an NBA wing and usually both. I was one of the few that loved his game from the get go, even when most were crucifying him early on, but I am not sure he is a difference making NBA player. And agree that he is not a lock to be gone. Just want him to play great basketball and let that sort itself out.

Great rundown Norm.

If Petteway stays another year...

Regarding the national title contender thing, anyone that makes the tournament out of a power league is one. We would never be more than an 8 point dog against anyone in that tournament. If you trust Vegas that means we can win any game we play. And that is why I just want to get to the thing again this year. We can beat anyone, anytime, anywhere with this bunch. But we still have to play well to have that opportunity. -
It's so much about want-to and the size of the fight in the dog. He's got a great motor. He'll be able to post up guys his size and he'll be able to take bigger bigs off the dribble. Love the match-up issues he creates. Great first step. Finishes well. Great handles for a kid his size. Has a nose for the rim. Off the charts athleticism. He's like a turbocharged Shavon Shields. Also will be able to show and recover on pick and roll situations incredibly well. Just a beautiful thing to land him.

The former Big East teams cannot help but take a step back in recruiting and otherwise. Players simply will not take the new big east as seriously as the former league. Thus the the stats from the past mean nothing. It is a good solid league that is a notch below the power conferences. Not all that close.

You can have your opinion about the MWC and AAC being ahead of the Big East...but the numbers from the 2013-2014 season do not support that idea. The Big East was 3rd in conf. RPI last year. The league has much less dead weight than any other power conference....the only team last year that looked worthless as a member of the BE was Depaul...every other school was either an NCAA tourney team, a legitimate competitor night in/night out during conference play, or a team that showed reason for optimism for the coming seasons. Top to bottom it is a high quality league where the competition among the teams is entertaining and meaningful. You are correct in saying that there's a perception problem with the new league. IMO this problem stems from the fact that, with Cuse Ville etc leaving the conference, the Big East is left without a lot of its programs that competed for national titles regularly. Neither Nova or CU generated much title talk last year and neither team made it far in the tournament, so the perception problem will persist until something changes in that regard. Perception does not equal reality, however. The reality is this: the Big East finished 3rd in conference RPI last year and we had 7 teams (in a conference of 10!!!)competing for tourney bids at the end of conference play, even with G'town catching some of the worst luck throughout the year and Marquette having its worst season in a very long time. Casual fans may not know/ care about the nitty gritty details but it is within them that the truth lies. The perception problems have not negatively affected recruiting or money so, IMO it is not a huge deal just yet You are correct. I can have my opinion of the Big East. It is an upper end mid major. Not a power league in any way, shape or form.

I want to make the NCAA tourney. That is my goal. It won't be easy. But I think if we do make it, we will be capable of winning any game we play in the thing. We will have the experience of it, and will be very battle tested in the league. We need to play extremely well out of league to make the task a little easier. We cannot win the NCAA tourney if we don't make the NCAA tourney. So that is my primary goal for this club. There are going to be a lot of close league games. We are going to need to win our share. If we run bad in close ones, we are going to have problems even making the dance even if we are better than last year in reality.

Would fit Miles system perfectly. Athletic enough to hedge ball screens and recover. I love the quick 4 man. I want him to be quick and agile enough to offensive board or be able to stretch the court. He may be able to do both in time given his reasonably smooth free throw stroke.

Seems Creighton got a good high upside player if looking at it logically. Certainly not a lock to pan out, but high upside. It is the old situation where he is a reach according the double douche and company if we got him, but awesome if they did. Lets be careful to not judge the same way as those freaks.
-
Would that be Tommy G, aka Double Douche? He is one of those every street corner, wanna be important, lawyer types. Is he your friend? Or possibly even you as a 4th alias?

Where we can improve rather dramatically is scoring downhill. We were often times playing uphill last year with so much pressure on Petteway and Shields to make something happen. Fortunately, they can do that. Very hopeful Tai adds another guy that can do that. One more guy that cann attack, should help allow for slightly easier 3 point shots, and getting results out of the attack itself. He has a strong body that should be able to finish plays. The thing I worry about is that the improvement will not be reflected in the record. In my mind, we overachieved last year. And we also played about as easy a schedule as was possible in the league. So, while we should be a good deal better, it may not seem that way in the league record. We should play much better out of league though, and must if we are going to have reasonably smooth sailing to the dance.

A Royals division win would be incredible. My two favorite teams making postseason play in the same year after long droughts would be epic.
-
Going to be a late one. Game before us starts at 10 so in reality we won't get going to 12:30 or so.

Another example of a Creighton fan having little man syndrome.

may be a blessing in disguise. Cleveland a very poorly run outfit.

Really like the looks of this kid.

Lue, Belcher, Pike, Chubik, Moore for me. -
Their PG did a good job of setting him up. Yeah reminded me of that NCAA tourney fiasco against New Mexico St. where sam Crawford would break us down every time down the court and set up someone for a dunk.
