You make me laugh suggesting he is a "very talented writer." You must be one of those Husker fans that believes if a writer says anything negative towards the Huskers they're a terrible writer. Nope, you should know me better than that. Are you one of those guys that thinks a guy is a very talented writer just because they write for a large paper?

That was a special environment tonight

Tremendous job by the students. All starts with them. -
Thanks to all who participated in that. Several times I got chills. I have never been in a place like that where everyone came together and refused to lose. I knew there was no sit Sunday and what not. But it blew away my wildest dreams. Congrats Husker Nation. We deserved it with that effort!!

Purdue is down 2 players from the last time we played them. It boils down to Hammons. If he is playing his best they're much tougher, but he is extremely inconsistent. Yeah he is very inconsistent. It would be problematic if he came to play that day. NW losing Cobb was really tough for them too. Maybe even more so. Personal preference, but I tend to go with the Vegas numbers trumping all else.

I don't agree at all. Purdue is far more talented. They will be very interested playing in own back yard. And they will have decent fan turnout. Would much rather face NW. We would be favored by 3 or 4 more against NW.

5-12 game not something I want to be a part of now at all. Purdue in own back yard with capable headaches like Hammons. No thanks. -
B1G Tourney Bracket Projections - thru 3/5

Not trying to be pessimistic, but let's say we lose today. What's better for us, getting the four seed and a bye before playing a pretty good team or a great shot at an extra victory over a weak opponent in the B1G opener? Had this debate earlier in the week. At that time it looked like a 6 seed was very likely, and that Illinois was a likely opponent. I strongly preferred the bye. But here we are now as the 5 seed if we have to play. And the opponent very likely to beat NW. Not as big a deal. I still prefer the bye, especially if Ohio St. loses, putting us in cross bracket with Iowa/NW winner. I just don't know that a win over a slumping NW team is going to do us much good at all. And we losing scouting time on Iowa or Ohio St. -
down to 2.5. I thought the line would be 2-2.5. Was surprised a bit with the opener.

To quickly summarize. We are locked into 4 or 5 seed. We get the 4 seed if we win or Ohio St. loses. We get the 5 if Ohio St wins and we lose. If we are the 5 seed we play the loser of Purdue/NW game today. Then Ohio St. If we are the 4 seed it depends on how we get it. If we win and Ohio St. win then Ohio St would be the 5 seed. Any other scenario that gives us the 4 seed would have Iowa across from us as the 5 seed. -
Tough break. The good news is that combo scoring guards are a little easier to find(even though we don't have many now)
-
St. Johns and Providence play each other. There surely isn't room for the loser of that one is there?
-
Providence getting blitzed helps.

Wow. York's coach with some nice back-handed compliments at the end of the article. Sour grapes indeed. Yeah no kidding.

I'm talking about the ones who don't just cheer for Creighton, but who also hate Nebraska basketball. Anyway, Kenny has always supported the other mens and women's sports at NU, and is a cool dude. Yep those are the kind I cannot stand. And one of the main reasons I cannot get on board with Creighton, even living in Omaha. And then you have a segment of the fanbase that acts as though they are better than everyone else. Those pompous douchebags along with the idiot type Jayskers make it downright impossible to wish them well.

This is what I think also. But we are probably best off if they win anyway, just to be sure. Like you said any loss would be considered pretty bad though.

I think we will win Sunday, but it is possible we don't. Assuming a loss, here is how things look in order of games. Indiana at Michigan. Doesn't really matter much for us, aside from possibly matchups down the road. Indiana looks likely to get 8 seed, barring an upset and Minny losing to Penn St. Illinois at Iowa. We REALLY want the upset here. This would ensure 5 seed at worse and would have shot at bye even with a loss, if Ohio St were to lose. 5 seed is looking somewhat likely to play NW also. That is a much easier situation than playing anyone else if we have a first round contest. This would be big to get this upset. NW at Purdue. I think we want Purdue to win. This would lock NW into 12 seed. Then if Mich St. can beat Ohio St. we would be locked into 5 seed at worst. I don't believe there are any ways that we could be a 6 seed and NW an 11 seed. Therefore we want Purdue to beat them and lock them into the 12 hole where those situations are very possible that put us in 5-12 game with NW. Penn St. at Minny. Strictly from an NCAA at large perspective it would obviously be better for Minny to lose. If you believe Illinois would be tougher than Penn St. like I barely do, then a Penn St. upset would create potential for 6-11 matchup with Illinois if we lose and Iowa and Ohio St both win. So that is the trade off here. Which is more important is debatable. Michigan St. at Ohio St. I think we want Michigan St. to win this one for sure. For starters it locks us into the 5 hole at worst. We would play NW in that matchup unless they upset Purdue on the road. If Ohio St. wins, we are likely in that 6-11 game which would most likely be either Penn St. or Illinois. -
Go Jay Wright & the Wildcats! They'll clinch the Big' LEast w/ that dubya... A little harder to win conference championships in the Big East, no? You forgot the 'L' as it's the Big LEast!! No it is a damn good league. Better than than ours if you ask them. But we are delusional.

If we do happen to lose Sunday, we may be better served with a Penn St. win tonight. NW win makes it very likely that Illinois would be the 11 seed, and we can easily be the 6. Penn St. wins it looks like we would be likely to play Penn St. or NW in the opening round, which would be a better situation than Illinois IMO, in a game that could possibly be a tourney play in game for us. -
Thanks for all of these links 49r.

Most important home game in Nebraska history ...
royalfan replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I don't see any scenario where it would not at least be tied for the most important, at least for the goals I have for our program. If we win the ballgame we are in the dance. If we lose there is a good chance we are not. Don't see how it can be more important. -
I was in the minority about not being too thrilled about that NIT. That was a team that could match up well with anyone, anywhere. They should have been making a run through the NCAA tourney, not the NIT. Anyone that cruised through the NIT like we did that year, should not be in the NIT.

1. You are going to say what should be deleted? After you get a thread locked, and then worse yet a thread deleted yesterday due to your racist comments? And you are complaining about some people that think it would be okay to play Peltz until a dead ball making our base look ignorant? What is worse? Looking ignorant or being racist? Food for thought. 2. What is mind boggling crazy is to think Peltz playing for Tai until a dead ball is going to be the reason we get down by 10 early. Seriously think about that for a second. I completely understand leaving the lineup and I am 50-50 on the issue. It really is not as big a deal as people are making it out to be, and you are the poster child for blowing it out of proportion. 3. Feel free to break your jibberish into some sentences. And perhaps try using a paragraph or two. One long run on sentence is kind of tough to read 4. You should be careful calling people idiots and what not, when you made one of the most idiotic comments ever yesterday regarding Ray and Petteway shooting 3's. It is much better to be accused of being wrong on an opinion, than being wrong on facts like you. 5. Using things like ahahahahhahahahahah, funnyyyyyyyyyy ahahahahahhahaha wowwwwwwwwww cmonnnnnnnn and a ton of exclamation points does not make your point better. It makes you look like a 6th grade girl texting on a phone. And perhaps you should save some of your run on w's and y's etc and use them to actually spell out words that you abbreviate time and time again during your babbling run on sentences. 6. This is a great message board with generally good people. Perhaps you should try and consider that a bit more. 7. No, I am not a tough guy.

That is interesting. I don't see them putting Dayton in the first four really. So the question is, does that help or hurt them? Tough situation for the selection guys.
