Rutgers (12-14) vs. Nebraska (18-8) Game Thread
cipsucks replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Why am I nervous about this game? Is it that Rutgers took both Purdue and Michigan State to the wire before losing? Is it my fear of the team coming out not focused on playing basketball? Or is it just a Pavlov's dog reaction to this program kicking me in the nuts my entire life? I can get up and pace and do other things here at the restaurant to keep my nervousness down. Tuesday, I'm screwed. Actually have really good tickets to the Maryland game. Might have to sneak in some whiskey and Nyquil...... -

I truly get a kick out of Kugler. -

Thank God for free speech in America! Let this guy spew his bilge. At least we know where he stands, so sane people can make their stand. The free speech you have to stand for, is the speech that makes you want to vomit. Love is the answer!

Norm, I used to worry about that jinx thing, too, but I've grown past that. My lucky Husker buttoned down short sleeve shirt and I are undefeated on game days. Sorry, everyone, it took the Penn State and Ohio State games to figure out what was wrong. I have a closetful of Husker gear, so I always wear something on game day. Always pulled a shirt from the closet and hoped for the best. Took me these last few games to remember we never lose with the buttoned down shirt. Worn it the last four. Be wearing it every game here on out. Buttoned down>jinx. Ass kicking times ahead, Husker fans!

To honor the passing of Dennis Edwards (who replaced David Ruffin in The Temptations), here's to the Huskers ninth conference victory tonight! Added bonus, we win by 9. -
The B1G home teams really struggled this weekend against lesser opponents. Even though, as a fan, it sucks sitting through an eight day lay-off, the conference might have done the Huskers a favor. Good teams are looking tired. Let's finish the season on a fresh legs roll, Huskers!
-
First of all, let me say whoever put together the B1G basketball schedule should be either spayed or neutered. You should never be allowed to reproduce. This 8 day break between games is torturing. With all the talk the last few days about a certain memo being released, it got me thinking of Husker Hoops. What situations, positive or negative, would you like to see a memo released of what really happened? I would like to know the conversations, before and after the 1996 walkout, Bernard Garner and Tyronn Lue had with their teammates that left the team.

Don't remember the game, but Moore had tied the NCAA record for consecutive free throws made. It was right around 40. He gets fouled and the crowd is ready to explode with excitement when he breaks the record. He puts up a brick Dube would be proud of.... -
Let's save the 20 bucks. Standhardinger will do it just for the blow.

Standhardinger was a head coach in the Lincoln Parks league....

I think the best way to look at this is like the Selection Committee is supposed to look at at-large teams. It's the whole body of work, not just the last whatever games. The 6 years of Miles, as a whole, hasn't been very good. Making the NIT this year, unless a 23 win NU team doesn't make the Tourney, doesn't necessarily get a contract extension. Also, making a coaching change doesn't automatically mean you're breaking up this team. A lot depends on the next hire. NU football is living proof. On the other hand, going on a hot streak at the end of the season, never hurts. It will all play out fine. I'm a little surprised, and disappointed talk of the future even comes up when NU is playing so well in the present. GBR!

You know this video had to be played. Why did Stevie play at Sesame Street? They told him he was at Hugh Hefner's mansion....

We have been 8-4 or better since 1998-99

Should have been in the Big Dance that year. Selection Committee screwed us over. That team had the talent to win a game or two in the tourney. Had that happened, the words "Barry Collier" would never have appeared on a Nebraska message board. (or, any sentence that begins with the word "again" for that matter).... -
royalfan, I always enjoy your posts year around. However, this time of year, your game always goes to A+. Thanks for all your work. BTW, the same goes for Tony, too.

You're probably right about the physical play, but I do remember Hoppen held his own against Wayman Tisdale. His touch around the basket was soooo good. -
I've heard Eichorst's decision to keep Miles came down from above. So, maybe heaven is helping us.

Badgers have had 16 straight conference top 4 finishes and 19 straight NCAA Tourney appearances. They're singing a different tune this year. Heck, they're even singing some verses in the universal surrender language, French. Wrong team favored. Huskers roll! -

TV schedule was set up when NU was picked to finish 13th in the league. I'm just happy we're not on ESPN3. -

Neil Diamond is one of my favorites! This song will be sung across Nebraska on Selection Sunday! Let us rejoice and be glad!!!
