  1. At our age Silverbacked, I bet our wives would agree we look much cooler with our pants on.... The eclipse was kick ass in Hampton. Sporadic clouds off and on. 5 minutes before totality, they disappeared for the rest of the eclipse. Had people from England, Canada, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Arizona and Minnesota stop in. Fun times!
  2. For any member of the huskerhoopscentral family, a free beer is yours from now till closing August 21st if you come to Conlee's. Maybe a bag of jerky, too......
  3. Go west, young man, go west. Exit 338.
  4. Glad you asked, Norm. Hampton is smack dab in the middle of the eye of totality. Astronaut Clayton Anderson is part of our ceremony. A crowd from 2000 to 5000 is expected on Monday. Conlee's is open for breakfast Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We have karaoke Sunday night starting at 8. Free eclipse glasses for those who watch the eclipse with us. Nebraska Star Beef burgers and hot dogs on the grill outside Conlee's Monday morning. Of course, steaks anytime. So, that's what I'm doing.
  5. I tried to access the last thread I started on this topic, but I'm technologically challenged. Doesn't matter. This deserves it's own thread. I knew this one was coming for the last few years, but today Glen Campbell passed away. The guy was kick ass. Every year, more sixties greats just seem to fade away..... RIP, Glen.
  6. Husker basketball beat writers have been writing that story for more than 100 years.
  7. Robin Washut on TBL said we just offered Ron Harper, Jr. First major to do so. IDK if it's been discussed on the super secret forum. Didn't see a thread with his name on it.....
  8. It's never happened in the bar/restaurant in Hampton.
  9. In all fairness, I bet you'd be hard pressed to find 20,000 Nebraskans who even know who Isaac Copeland is. That's not a knock on him or Nebraskans. That's life in Nebraska. We didn't get into the B1G because of our basketball history. It was football. Look at all the money rolling into the athletic coffers they can now direct towards basketball (if they so choose.) I never have begrudged the football program. I love them both. I hope basketball can get to a level of success where they warrant August coverage in the media. BTW, I bet Kansas football is saying the same thing.
  10. Interesting. Today's OWH reported more country music was played during the practice than anyone has heard before....
  11. Oh, it can't be bigger than Grand Island, and I've been there. Granted, the pretty traffic lights are a bit confusing, but the side streets with the stops signs are easy to navigate.
  12. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
  13. Barfknecht says in today's OWH, Tai went vegan in January. Was that posted on here and I missed it? So much for getting a gig as a spokesman for Nebraska Star Beef... http://www.omaha.com/huskers/mens-basketball/barfknecht-can-tim-miles-solve-nebraska-basketball-puzzle-coach-s/article_6e234d6d-f9b8-538d-aeb6-f47b2e9cb094.html
  14. I'm guessing 2019. Don't know if that state will be Nebraska....
  15. Sorry. That was the prophetic coming out in me. My inner Nustudent says 6568 is the year we win our first NCAA Tourney game.
  16. That's how many weeks it has been since Nebraska won an outright regular season conference championship in men's basketball.
  17. Why don't they give Michigan a wooden plaque like their football team got in 1997 when we got the Sears Trophy?
  18. Just getting ready for the 16 team league when Oklahoma and Kansas join the B1G.
  19. Don't sell them short. They've been on this retreat for most of the last 100 years.
  20. The last NBA game I've watched was Game 5 of the Lakers/Sixers finals in 2001. My, how time flies.....
  21. I never used the used the terms "miss" "strikeout" or "bad hire". I brought up the fact that Miles has more resources than any of the four coaches before him. I don't bash Miles, but I also don't put TO on a golden pedestal where every move he makes is the right one. Hey, I hope the Huskers are in the Elite Eight this season.
  22. I was making a joke about TO and the number 666. I wasn't talking about Miles, but what the heck, it's May and there's nothing else to talk about. If Miles survives this coming season, he does move into 2nd place for longevity since Cipriano. Definitely a .666 batting average. If he doesn't, he has done worse than 3 of the 4 guys who came before him. Here's why in my humble opinion: he has had facilities and resources which all 4 guys before him never had. Thanks, Dr. Tom, for doing all of that, but if Miles doesn't deliver next season, it's not a walk or a strikeout. It's an error. Errors go against your batting average.
  23. So far, Osborne is batting .333. Maybe if Miles has a nice run next season, Tom will improve to .666. I love irony.
  24. Kinda like if a tree falls in a rain forest, kills a whale but no one sees it, did it really happen?
  25. Since all the polar ice caps have completely melted, they've joined the polar bears in the rain forests looking for baby seals to eat. Needless to say, the monkeys are a little nervous about these new developments......
