So this is because we felt sorry for FGCU for only having possibly 6 scholarship player right? Its too early to start feeling like we can't have nothin.

I found my overall experience to be very favorable. I've been a Haymarket go-er for a while so I have a couple parking tricks up my sleeve. Concessions I can't speak of, I usually eat before I get to the game. I sit a couple rows back in the 200 section and I had no sight problems. There also wasn't a lot of people in my section for the exhibition game so my fingers are still crossed on sitting next to cool people. I'm looking forward to many games, and hopefully wins, in PBA.

Get There Early Friday... (Pre-Game Show)
Red Rum replied to HuskerActuary's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Shouldn't be a problem, I took the day off. -
My wireless has been working very well in PBA. weird...my phone couldn't even detect WiFi. Mine didn't either.

It seemed fine from my 200 section angle. It all in your perspective I guess. I spent the last few years watching from the rafters. While I might be sitting just as high up as I was at the Bob, I feel like I'm right on top of the action. I was a little disappointed in the turnout, I guess its more than usual for an exhibition game. It will be completely different when the games matter

Tomorrow night injuries
Red Rum replied to Miles ahead of the rest's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
If all I have to do is stand there and shoot sure! In my advancing age that seems to be my favorite thing in pick up games. -
Which is why we are not the "Greatest Fans in all of Sports" (or whatever the hell the sign says). We're just like every other fan base out there. I've thought the tag should read "some of the more knowledgeable fans in college football" instead of the greatest moniker. Fans are fans, it doesn't matter where they are; by the way, fan is short for fanatical. A basketball forum such as this is a great outlet for the long-suffering hoops fanatics of Nebrasketball. GBR!! I wouldn't even go that far. I'm no Tom Osborne but I've heard my share if really stupid things from the stands. & I hate watching with my relatives. To them the referees are at fault for everything the Huskera do wrong. I got tired if their a screaming once about "how do we get those #######'s to stop calling holding on us." I simply said, "Maybe if we stop holding?" They looked at me as if it was blasphemy. Ya, there are some people I would rather not watch games with. But they are my freinds/family so I can't outright refuse. But I'm getting close.

Bon Jovi for Nebrasketball: Do we need to stop it?
Red Rum replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
See, I thought using the Bon Jovi song at the scrimmage was just a promotional tool, much like selling Bon Jovi concert tickets for $10 during the scrimmage. So this is a real thing? This might actually be the intro song? I am no spring chicken and grew up about the time this man started making it big so this isn't a generational thing....it's a I don't like this crap kind of thing. Plus, while it is our house, we are paying for it with taxes and such, it should be a team decision. They'll pick some crap that us old white people can't clap to but we can't clap to the fight song so what's new. -
I have also found that parking is difficult. As a frequent visitor to the Haymarket area, I got into a groove and kinda had an idea of where to look for a spot. With all this new fangled goings-on I have to look harder. It’s not a complaint, I’m just lazy. Especially when I go to watch NFL games all hungover and stuff. We’ll all figure it out. I think my group is planning on parking in the new Arena lot by the ball field and walk over. But we’re young(ish) so we should be able to handle it. Still love the new digs though…

Sept 27th Husker Scrimmage: How would you split teams?
Red Rum replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I usually shy away from the "who should be starting" threads but I really like this one. I'm not exactly sure why this would be different but here's mine. Team 1 Biggs Ray Fuller Rivers Pitchford subs Benny Jordan Kye Menke Team 2 Tai Hawkins Petteway Sheilds Smith subs Peltz Wagner Serj I have no rhyme or reason for these teams other than trying to fix in new guys with vets (for lack of a better term). I have no inside information, I have never seen some of these guys play in person. I just want to throw this out there. -
Great shoe. I ruined my first pair by neglecting to wear socks (gross, I know). Spent a pretty penny on an original pair in the early 2000s and the sole crumbled into fine powder the first time I wore them. I've seen the low cut model in stores recently. Nike forgot how to make good shoes so they release "retros". Then they charge $200 and people end up getting shot/trampled/mugged trying to get a pair. I know, I saw they released my Pennys and I was totally going to buy a pair....until I saw the price. They must have adjusted for inflation a couple of times.

Up until high school I pretty much wore some crap shoes from Payless. Speaking of Payless, I am fairly certain that I owned a pair of the white with red and black accent Jordans, knock offs of course. My first shoes in high school were Converse. Nothing special. Mostly black with some weird gell thing on the sole under the heel. Velcro strap. I stepped it up when I was a junior and got a pair of these: Nike Air Penny II I got a pretty sweet deal on them. It was some end of the year sale, probably Lemon Days or something. Sorry, I've lost a few brain cells since then. Easily the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn.

BTN...Huskers...and one TOTALLY off topic comment
Red Rum replied to Nighthawk's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I was thinking the same thing about BTN. Now that basketball is officially over and the best I can do for sports viewing at the gym now is Royals baseball I've been turing on BTN and watching old games. Now I guess I know. I have yet to see the No Coast Derby girls but I have wanted to. I've heard its grand fun. This might be the week to check them out. -
UCF jumped on the fancy floor design bandwagon. Supposed to imitate an outdoor playing surface. I don't actually think this is half bad. Granted I thought the blue turf in Boise was neat at first too. Now I think it's just annoying. http://www.yardbarker.com/college_basketball/articles/msn/ucf_unveils_new_blacktop_style_basketball_court/13904584

I do too until I read the post and it's some boring crap about admissions. Someone just tell me when he gets here.

Your "source" seems to be waffling lately... My source says waffles are delicious.

To the best of my limited knowledge a verified twitter account just means that Twitter aknowledges that you are in fact that person on twitter (not a fake) and have a high enough status to deserve verified status. It's mostly celebrities, athletes, actors, musicians and such. There are a few people on my twitter feed that probably should be verified before Tai since he's just a HS kiwi basketball player and these people are on TV or successful comics or etc. How twitter decides who get verified and who doesn't is above my pay grade. Hope that didn't muddy it up too much for ya Norm.

I have to say while I'm not interested in going to any of the shows they've got lined up, they are big names. I didn't really expect this right out of the gate.
