very nice "Q&A" read. (not sure if it is proper to state the magazine?) just a few highlights:

basketball was her first love. really likes the physicalness of basketball. when she first thought of playing basketball (after vb), she wondered if she could play somewhere, not really thinking for the huskers. she also thought of playing sand volleyball somewhere---possibly overseas. when she had mentioned basketball to coach cook, he asked her if she wanted him to talk to coach yori. that got the ball rolling. stated she is always in the gym shooting the basketball---even during the volleyball season. it was a "stress reliever" for her.

guess that answers some of the questions about her not picking up a basketball for four years---she shoots at the gym all the time.  :D have to admit, i was one of them.

I have to believe that Yori saw something in her as I don't think she would just offer her a scholarship otherwise.  A little insurance helps in various scenario's that could happen.  It's a long season and Ostrander is pretty smart besides being physical.  Due to those factors and the fact that she did practice some with the team before the A. trip she could provide some quality minutes versus quantity ones.

Would suspect Ostrander will bring positive vibes to the team...playing a lot or not. She was named captain of the volleyball for her leadership skills.   That has to carry over, and bet she'll help the "young one's" going forward.

I for one am really look forward to seeing her play.  She bleeds Husker red through and through. My kind of Nebraska kid that plays for her dream school.

Yori...she knew what Kyndal could bring too the team.....got to think she saw good stuff in Ostrander too. Their senior leadership means a lot when your starting a couple of freshman.

Could be a nice stop gap

Does anyone know her vertical?

I don't know what her vertical is yet. but i did find where she was a was a three-time state qualifier in track and field, including the triple jump as a sophomore and the high jump as a junior and senior. I don't know if the University releases there sports performance results.
