This will be the class standing next year:

Seniors - 2 (Theriot and Kalenta)

Juniors - 2 (Esther and Allie)

Sophs - 4 (Cinco, Romeo, Smith, Wood)

Fresh+RFr - 4 (Blackburn, Shepard, Simon, and Washington as a RFr)

I am assuming Theriot and Allie will get plenty of playing time, as well as Cinco, Romeo, and Smith.  I also think that Blackburn, Shepard, Simon, and Washington will get significant minutes.  Hopefully no one will get bitten by the injury bug.  Maybe we will also see significant minutes from Kalenta, that would be nice.

The team will be very young, but there is a lot of opportunity to earn playing time with hard work.  It could be a bit of a tough year, especially with the improvement of teams in the conference, but it will be an exciting year for sure.

I think you may see another recruit this spring.

Our success next year may be dependent on how well Shepard's knee heals and if she is able to get back to full strength. It she is not at full strength, it may be a difficult year or us. There are a lot of Big 10 teams that are returning big time players and we lost the majority of our production from this year. Hope we don't fall as badly as Penn State did this year.

That list totals 12 players ......with 4 of them new rookies with no collegiate playing time , albiet one is Shepard..(healthy or not). And that assumes no one leaves the program.  It will take roughly 7or 8 ..or 9 ....to get a good rotation, and allow for some injury time, etc.

I thought going into next year we could have too many...but not so as it has turned out. The stsarting 5 or 6 are fairly easy to see.....but beyound that will depend on the new freshmen.

Not a horrible situation going into next year. There may well be room for another to join the team....possibly Jr College, transfers, or?. .....yes, I know ...Jr college.

If everyone is healthy from the get go, and stays that way, then we have a pretty good chance of being a decent team, but we're going to be young. It will depend on how the freshmen get up to speed too. Hoping for a surprise newbie....(not including Shep.)

The inside bigs will be a whole new group....got some good prospects, but inexperienced except Havers. The guards/wings will have to improve for the most part....but there's talent there.

One key point is that everyone needs to improve...Rachel T maybe not so much, but we can't be so reliant on her to keep us in games....I guess we learned that lesson this year.

Obviously we'll be a much different team than the last few years....but it looks like we can be pretty good. Lots of time and practices to go till then. The rest of the B1G will be tough....most teams will be better probably.

To me it seems obvious that we would try to add someone this spring since we lost both of the Page sisters.

I have this crazy feeling next year we are going to be shooters. If Shepard can be full strength, I believe teams will have to double down on her in the post which is going to bring a lot of kicking the ball out. I really think with Romero, Smith, Theriot and Cincore we could be like Iowa this year with the 3 pointer. I think with Allie, Shepard, Washington and Blackburn we will have a pretty good inside crew. I think we will have a lot of stupid young turnovers but I think we could be a pretty good shooting team next year!!

It will be tremendous to have Theriot as the floor general with all the youth that we will have.  That will make a huge difference - her leadership will be instrumental next year.  The person I am very curious about for next year is Esther.  She played some minutes this year when we were going through Boot-Gate.  She needs to find her shot, and communicate on defense.  When I watch her defend one-on-one, she seems to have pretty quick feet and is constantly moving, almost hyper.  That could come in handy, but she needs to make sure she communicates, and find her shot to contribute offensively.  She may never be a starter, but could be useful coming off the bench to spell people.  She sure seems to get along with everyone and is always cheering very loudly for the team.  I like her, and I want to see her be successful.
