Disappointing end to the weekend. Decent pitching; poor hitting. It's early, but the 4-5 holes in the order don't look too powerful with Headley and Lubach there.

UNLV should be a solid team again. But I'm a little concerned with the makeup of our offense. On paper I'm not seeing much speed or power. I don't see Lubach working out in the 4 hole.

Wasn't Tanner in the 5 hole, with Headley in the 4? But I share your concerns. I'm also not a fan of Darby leading off.

Has anyone heard anything about Edgrington? He didn't see the field at UNLV. Still listed on the roster, but I haven't heard mention of him this spring in media discussions about who is in the mix for infield positions.

Kelly & Headley were in the 4-5 hole if I remember right.

Tanner was in the 4 hole on Friday. I'm wondering if UNLV threw a lefty that night? Edrington I'm not sure on. He's someone who is solid in the field but struggles with the bat. We didn't commit a single error all weekend so that's a plus. Just need to warm up the bats and solidify the third starter.

Hohensee out already with an arm injury. MRI pending. Bad news this early; he was being counted on for significant innings.

Tough loss if Hohensee is out for an extended period.  IMO, I really though that he would eventually gain the #3 spot in our rotation.  I like his stuff.  We will need some young arms to step up.

Good win today...we were timely and clutch at the end.

Biggest game of the series IMO.  Our #4 against their #1.  Would not be surprised to give one back but I think we sweep.

Well, it's 8-3 BYU in the 7th after Huskers had an early 3-1 lead...

I know it's early in the season for this question. But is this years offense better with Mike Kirby running the offense than it was with Will Boldt?

Way too early to answer.  Plus, it basically depends on talent.    I'm not a huge believer in "running an offense" in baseball, or that coaching makes a ton of difference with regard to offensive production.  Recruit hitters.  Not a lot of speed in this lineup.

Fair enough HB,maybe I should have said manage the offense. I do like the freshman arms that are on team. seems they come in and get the outs when needed.

I agree we have some decent looking arms.  Deeper on the mound than we have been.  Concerned about how we'll manufacture runs, without power or speed.  But if we don't, I don't think it will be a Kirby vs. Bolt thing.
