whoopdeedoo Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 i understand there is basketball left, but, with warmer weather not too far away, i am thinking some or most of you will be spending more time doing more important things. so, just thought i would ask what some of your opinions will be for the husker program looking towards 2015-16. i think there are some fairly big questions where the offense is going to come from. romeo looks like a good one. hope her offense just keeps improving. RT will get a lot of attention---as usual. Smith looks good on the court, but, needs work offensively. Cincore ? Kalenta? think they will give huskers good minutes. not sure what Blackburn and Simon will bring. i know there are other names i didn't mention, like Wood, Ramecieri(sp), and Washington. to keep it fairly short, the way i see things right now, i think a lot will hinge on the game that Shepard will bring the huskers. having that strong post presence (not too mention the hype) could really unleash the others (if you know what i mean). btw, not to take anything away from Cady and Sample---what a pleasure it has been watching the whole team this year. just wish their hard work would have paid off in a couple more "w's". seniors deserved a little better. anyway, just thought it would be interesting how others are looking at next year. Silverbacked1 Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 I hope Connie has some easy games to start the season so that thye can get their feet wet. I am not a big believe in baptism by fire with a young crew. Plus the B1G will be tough so need something to cut your teeth on early, but at the end of noncon bring is a couple to get them really ready for that grind. Quote
Bugeaters1 Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 In my mind Havers will start next year, and with that the scoring output should also increase. I think when she has been in some of the games as of late she has really bothered the opponents bigs. Also what will Yori do with the two schollies that are now available? Silverbacked1 1 Quote

Havers will probably help us score...plus will definately help the defense inside. She could have some help from Kalenta & Washington, and possibly freshman Blackburn (sp) Hopefully Havers can add another 20 lbs of muscle...and a nasty side to go with it. How Shepard recovers, and can get up to game speed, will be huge. She will add a ton to the offense, (and defense) and can make us a different team. I just don't see her getting pushed around or intimidated. Scorers (sp) mentality. Losing the Page girls hasn't helped us....one of them could have been ready to play next year...but that's water under the bridge. We need to fill those shoes....and recruit aggressively to do so. I have to say we don't seem to get after recruiting as hard as some. Iowa already has commitments from 4 for 2016...all 4*s....and yes Row...I have come to hate the hawks. Lots more thoughts...but it can be thrashed later. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 I actually think once Jessica gets into the flow of things the sky's the limit with her in her first year. If you look at what Chatrice White did here in Lincoln, Jess can match that every game plus more. And having Rachel as her point guard will get her as a contender for B1G freshman of the year. She's that good. The team goes to Australia this summer for like 8 or 9 preseason games and that can only help the newbies get into the flow of things. I actually think we're going to be pretty good next year providing everyone stays healthy. The coaches are always raving about Darrien and just how good she will be hope they're right. If you watch her warming up before games she looks as if she will be pretty good. I think our main objective is getting everyone to make buckets. Right now I don't see Allie playing much more than she is now unless she can get a lot stronger. She has a hard time catching the ball and holding on to the ball when it's in her hands. And if she can get into the weight room it will help her out immensely. I'm really excited about what Nat and Chandler can do after getting a year under their belts. I think Natalie's defense is light years ahead of where her offensive game is right now. And when she can get both of them at real high level this kid is going to be dynamite. I really like how she can put the ball on the floor and get to the bucket. That will only get better as she matures. Same with Chandler and Jasmine, they'll both be pretty salty next year. twister31 Posted February 14, 2015 Report Posted February 14, 2015 Regarding Romeo: When I was in college I went to a softball game and happened to sit by Sunny. During the game she kept trying to call Romeo to touch base and received a call back stating that "I don't know who you are trying to reach but this is not Natalie." She then called her dad and found out she had a couple of digits turned around. I thought it was quite funny lol. ANYWAY one of her friends came over to talk to her and they started discussing Natalie and Sunny made the comment that she was the next Lindsey Moore and that she was just terrific. I see some glimpses of it and i hope more of that breaks through as she gains more experience here in her freshmen year. Silverbacked1 1 Quote

dlrrk Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 I can assure you of one thing... Barring injury, Blackburn will be strong, ready, and as nasty as the officials will allow. She'll accept any role Coach Yori desires. We'll see... Row6Seat10 and HB 2 Quote

Bet she will add to the mix next year...we'll need some bodies around the paint to mix it up. Quote
huskerchode Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 I bet she will, too, and I'm looking forward to it! Quote

Love how Smith playes the game......just needs to become a scorer smith looks pretty smooth on the floor. pretty natural for her. i have only been able to see a couple games on BTN where she got some good minutes---and a number of the shots missed pretty bad (in her defense, she may have gotten fouled on at least one). it did puzzle me somewhat because i thought she was coming in as a scorer. hopefully she will make big progress in that area come next year.
