Neebraska Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Here is a message board thread from an Auburn site: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=6&f=2775&t=11409770&p=1 The thread ultimately goes off on a bunny trail, but it provides some interesting Nebraska and Atewe comments and discussion nonetheless. I actually really enjoyed reading how their fans were all caught up in how bitchin' our facilties are. I had actually never seen that Vimeo video of the tour of the Hendricks Center that one of their fans found and posted on their board. And it struck me how fans down in Auburn are jealous out of their minds about how fandamntastic our basketball facilities are and how they don't think they can compete with us in the facilities arms race. Fans. In Auburn. Shock and Awe over OUR cool sh!t. That just amazes me. They don't think they can win the recruiting battle with us -- with frickin US! -- over Atewe because their locker room is the size of a large closet. And they apparently forgot to finish their arena somehow. We obliterate Auburn basketball when it comes to facilities bling. I was honestly surprised by their reaction. I had no idea other team's facilities are that far behind. I'd always been lead to believe that everyone else had it so much better. Until we upgraded. No wonder Coach Miles has made the comments he's made about recruiting with our facilities. Because they blow the competition away. I liked how they likened our new adidas contract as a commitment to basketball. I'm sure that will stir some of you Nike boys up... Norm Peterson 1

FredsSlacks Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Not that great of a movie, but it fits.

The problem is that Nike is the more popular brand to high school kids with more selection for basketball players. Adidas is like a bmw, but Nike is a Lamborghini. Atewe himself recently posted a picture of a new pair of Jordans he bought. trickey and Red Rum 2
Norm Peterson Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 I thought those shoes were FUBUs. Maybe he collects shoes?
TheKamdyMan Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 I thought those shoes were FUBUs. Maybe he collects shoes? youre correct in the shoes he posted being fubu's
FredsSlacks Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 I thought those shoes were FUBUs. Maybe he collects shoes? youre correct in the shoes he posted being fubu's He posted those as a joke. Walmart sells FUBU shoes for $11. The Jordans that he posted 2 days earlier were not a joke.
uneblinstu Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 We're getting awfully close to the creeper line. I'd say we actually crossed it a long time ago... greymonkey 1

Depends on whether the kid spends more of his time in the athletic department or the theater department.
TheKamdyMan Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 per robin: While he hasn't said so officially, it sounds like Atewe is in fact down to Nebraska and Auburn. He apparently is leaning towards Nebraska, while others involved want Auburn. The final decision could end up going either way.

But it sounds like he's got others (maybe parents, coaches, advisors, etc) chirping in his ear wanting him to go to Auburn.
Concrete Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 This happens all too often to Nebraska, most notably in football. Unfortunately 99% of the time the prospect ends up doing what the "others involved" want.
Hooper Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 My suspicion is that his mentor (Vidal Massiah) from the Hoop Factory in Toronto is pushing him to go to Auburn. I agree with others that people should prepare to be disappointed, because the handlers almost always get their way.

I agree with others that people should prepare to be disappointed, because the handlers almost always get their way. Why would he be pushing him to go there? Either he legitimately believes Auburn is the best place for him (I'd love to hear that argument) or he's getting something for himself ($$$).
TheKamdyMan Posted March 29, 2013 Author Report Posted March 29, 2013 after hearing their own fans talk about how much their facilities and everything sucks I cant see why an outsider would like it. Usually the homers will defend it to nostalgia or something else.

Nebraska is far from the only school that has that issue and there are plenty of cases where the kid makes the decision for himself as well.
