KU:

The inevitable has finally happened at KU. Bonnie Hendrickson was relieved of her duties of head coach this morning.

"Bonnie has been an outstanding representative of the University of Kansas and Kansas Athletics," Zenger said.  "It came down to the fact that we expect this program to rank among the best in the Big 12 Conference, and we have not accomplished that goal."

I thought this would have happened while Nebr. was was still in the league.

She was  close on a couple of occasions to getting it done.  Only 2 years from beating the Huskers in the first round of the tourney.  Would suck to get to the round of 32 and get whacked. Too many down years.   It's a tough business out there.  I would think the opportunity at Kansas is good, and they will have interest from some top coaches.

I didn't think it was right on how KU handled Coach Washington firing, I was never impressed with Hendrickson as a coach.

Don't think Bonnie be out of work to long. She will be given the opportunity to be picked up by someone right away if she's willling to become a top assistant, just because she is a fantastic recruiter. She was one of the better recruiters in the Big 12 , just didn't get them to produce much on the court the way they should have after they got there. She may wait for another head coaching job all be it at a smaller D-1 school too.

Texas Tech:

All star girls report is reporting one time Husker target 5'9 guard Jayla Hobza who spent her first year out of Bellevue West High school at Western Iowa JC in Council Bluffs, and then transferred to Chipola Junior College in Florida last season has chosen to play her last two seasons as an junior college transfer at Texas Tech.

Jayla chose Texas Tech over Nebraska, SMU and Arizona.

Indiana:

The hits keep coming for the Hoosiers. This time starting guard Larryn Brooks has announced she's leaving the program.

There were indications this season that Brooks and Moren didn’t always see eye to eye. Moren would joke about her “banter” with Brooks, their disagreements over 3-point shots early in the shot clock and how to run the offense in certain time-and-score situations.

If Moren and Brooks agreed on anything, though, it was the point guard’s lack of consistency. Brooks’ points per game average dipped from 16.3 in 2013-14 to 11.9 in 2014-15. In conference play, Brooks shot a nearly identical 33 percent from the field and beyond the arc

I think they have to sit two years If you transfer inside the B1G, but I could be wrong.

You're right Silverbacked1 somewhat, You only have to sit out one year, and you get one year of eligibility taken away from you should you transfer within the B1G. Which makes it so hard to transfer from one Big Ten team to another as essentially you would only get to play one year at another Big Ten school if you transfer after your sophomore year. Now, if you transfer into another conference you don't loose that year of eligibility the B1G takes away from you.

 Purdue:

Attrition is contagious in Indiana. This time it's Purdue.

Freshman Haley Bodnar, who didn't play this past season, will transfer from the Purdue women's basketball program.

The 6-foot-3 Bodnar, part of a five-member recruiting class, was granted her scholarship release by coach Sharon Versyp. Bodnar is from Saint George, Utah.

"We all hope Haley is able to heal up and wish her the best of luck in her future, academically and athletically," Versyp said in a statement released by the athletic department.

Bodnar was a top 100 recruit when she signed with Purdue in Nov of 2013. She had some sort of foot injury that prevented her from playing this past year.

Michigan State head coach Suzy Merchant and the Spartan women's basketball team have decided to forgo any postseason this season due to the welfare of the student-athletes.

"I am incredibly proud of what this year's team accomplished under such challenging circumstances. While we could have participated in postseason play, after talking with our senior student-athletes (and our entire team), it truly is in our student-athletes' best interest right now to rest, recover and then we can begin to prepare for the future as the spring unfolds,"

VAVEL USA Interviews Chatrice White

2. Let’s flashback, senior year in high school, you decided to commit to the University of Illinois, why Illinois? What was it about the program and institution that made you choose them over Nebraska?

I came on a visit here when I was a sophomore I came on a visit here and didn’t want to leave. I loved everything about campus, the coaching staff, and their belief in where they are going to take this program. I truly felt at home and that was a feeling I didn’t get from any other college visit I went on.

C. Vivian Stringer slams Rutgers basketball facilities

"You know what I think would be great for Jersey basketball? Why don't we get a $50 million god darn arena? How's that?" Stringer said in sharing her true thoughts on facilities for the first time in years. "That's what I think would be real great. Because you try recruiting to this. Have you gone to the other facilities? Come on, people."

"Here's our problem: When our kids walk in other places, I'm embarrassed," Stringer said. "I walk into the University of Maryland and they've got a place where these kids can practice the dunk.

Can't help but wonder how embarrassed she'll be next year when she and her team get out of the bus inside the warm PBA and see what we've got here?

Thought Grant was a good inside player....she always had good games against NU.  An Illinois girl. Has 2 years left.

Fouled some, but she is young. Suppose she'll come to NU?....doubt it...B1G makes it too tough to transfer within the conference........That will hurt Illinois.

Why transfer?...she was a starter...who knows??

I heard on another board that she is headed to DePaul.  Sounds like it was a huge surprise for Illinois that she is leaving.

I think she is from the Chicago area.  And, really, if it were me, I would have picked DePaul over Illinois to begin with, because DePaul usually makes it to the tourney.

Plus Depaul doesn't play thug ball, and they play an up tempo game at least when i have seen them play.

She averaged 30.1 minutes a game this last season. She started 54 of 55 games since she's been at Illinois and averaged just under 10 points per game.

Sounds to me like she had this planned for a little while and that there's more to the story than what's out there now.

Purdue:

Here's a piece where Purdue Head Coach Sharon Versyp has a question and answer session with the Purdue media and blames this losing season on everything and anything, but what 95% of what Boilermaker fans think.....the head coach herself.

"I wouldn't say we're at a crossroads. We've got to get it done," Versyp said. "We've been here nine years – this is the only bad season. Everybody's had a bad season; look around. I would be even more upset – it's not an excuse – but if Torrie (Thornton) was healthy, April (Wilson) was healthy and 100 percent, Bridget Perry was healthy and we still had this, then maybe.

"If we had our healthy horses and just one (player) totally gone and everybody totally healthy, like everybody else in the Big Ten, I would be like, 'Oh (expletive).' "

Q: Are you concerned about attendance and getting it going? As a coach, how do you get the attendance to bump back up again? Note: Purdue led the Big Ten in attendance and ranked No. 9 nationally, based on the figures released, but the program had its lowest announced average attendance (6,279) since 1994-95.

A: It doesn't matter what you do, if you don't win, nobody is going to come. I thought our fan support still was great. I thanked the fans. They see two kids on wheelies and they see four kids in boots. They get it. I've had so much support with people telling me, 'Hey, we've got this.' I don't care who you are, anywhere in the country they're having attendance problems

My husband has pretty close ties with the Purdue athletic department. Sounds like Versyp is safe until the current AD retires, and a lot of people are fed up with Purdue's AD, so maybe that will be sooner rather than later.
