Swan88 Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 This morning's Omaha World-Herald has an excellent article on Terran Petteway by Lee Barfknecht. Here is a blurb from the early part of the article: "At Nebraska, Terran Petteway's first season is on track to rank among the school's best since the 1970s, even after Wednesday night's clunker at Michigan. The 6-foot-6 sophomore, who sat out last season after transferring from Texas Tech, entered the week second overall in Big Ten scoring at 18.2 points a game and first in league games at 19.5. How significant is that? In the past 40 years, according to World-Herald research, only three Huskers have ever finished first, second or third in league scoring." Quote
Huskerpapa Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 A nice read...I kind of like the part where both coach and player acknowledge that he still has a lot to learn. That gives me hope that he will be back. Hooper 1 Quote
throwback Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Great article - and it hits home again how Petteway can be a great role model for current players in how hard he worked during his redshirt season to reach this point. It's also a good reminder how while at CSU Coach Miles saw Petteway's talent in high school, whereas a lot of larger school/Big 12 coaches didn't. That ability to see talent where others may miss it should pay more dividends on the recruiting trail, while he's building the NU program. HB, REDZONEDAN and Silverbacked1 3 Quote

And spotting the talent other miss is still a big part of what we will have to do. We're not a place where we can just go out and sign consensus 4 and 5 stars on a regular basis, certianly not yet. Talent evaluation and knowing what guys can play in our system seem to be strengths with Miles. Quote
NeeandMe Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 My thoughts - Tech should've kept Knight. Dude was building something special. Quote
