Another comment was that they (the coaching staff?) feel like they have 7-8 guys who can compete for 5 starting spots.  That obviously doesn't mean only 7-8 guys worthy of playing but 7-8 guys who are potentially worthy of starting and only 5 can actually start.  That spells competition to me.  And that's a good thing.

 

He also commented about improved athleticism and quickness overall, which helps in a lot of areas.  (Damn straight.)

Sounds to me like maybe kidney got in Coach's ear and told him how it was going to be!
