Went to the Class A games this morning.  Central completely overwhelmed Benson.  Central's got several Big Ten caliber athletes, not much structure to what they do offensively.  It sorta turned into a pick up game after a while.  Central's athleticism turned over Benson all morning.  Thomas for Benson might be a player, but he got almost totally shut down.  He was about all the Bunnies had.

 

In the second game, #5 and #3 for South were intriguing prospects.  I don't remember what their names were.  #5 ran the point and was built pretty similarly to Lance Jeter, or at least has a frame that could develop into that.  #45 for South had a nice day too.  Would be a project, but might be a guy UNO would look at.  

 

South's fundamentals fell apart down the stretch.  #23 had a game he'll want to forget.  Missed two dunks, several free throws, including an air ball on the front end of a one and one. Followed that up with a pretty bad foul 80 ft. away from Papio's goal.    Monarchs pulled away after that, but it was a six point game or less when most of it happened.  He'll live with that one for a while.

 

Didn't see much that I think would translate on Papio's roster.  They play pretty well together, not a ton of skill, if they can run their offense, though, they could give Central fits.  Not sure Central will let them do that, though.

Papio does own a win against Central during the regular season.  Now I believe Central is going to win, but don't count out the Monarch's.

I believe that came during the stretch that Tradeon Hollins (or was it Thurman?) was hurt.  If the same Central team shows up tomorrow that played today, it won't be close.

Yeah.  That was while Hollins was out.  And Central will want to avenge that loss with an exclamation point.

Like I said, Central will likely win....And yes I knew Hollis was out.  But wins are still wins.  Papio isn't going to just lay down.  They'll have confidence.

I'm sure they do.  They should.  They're in the state finals and upsets happen, but the two teams I watched today weren't on the same level.

I stand corrected as they are the best high school basketball ever in Nebraska history.  And it's 7 of the last 8 years they have won State.  That is flat out amazing for Class A.
