Bolt will be paid $500k per season and will have the full complement of scholarships for an entire roster. It will be interesting to see how much other Big Ten teams invest now that the west coast teams are in the mix. Hopefully it elevates the entire conference to go 'big' for baseball. GBR

Mets and Braves are in a critical series right now with wildcard implications.

Meanwhile, Schwellenbach is pitching lights out.

I saw where Bryce Matthews is up in AAA. Now I don't remember, oh, he was with the team that played the storm chasers.

Yes, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys defeated Omaha, 13-6. Brice Mathews was 1-5 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. He wound up hitting .231 with OPS of .748 at the AAA level this season. Brice played 3B in the Championship Game.

A few former Huskers in the playoffs

  • Braves - Schwellenbach & Bummer (ATL might leave Schwelly off the wild card roster, though, since it's doubtful he'll be able to pitch in any of the 3 games after going Monday)
  • Astros - Meyers
  • Orioles - Povich
  • Padres - Waldron (he got sent to the minors in late August after struggling, but they recalled him last week. I don't know whether he'll be on the postseason roster.)

I think that's all of them

It wouldn't surprise me if he gets invited to spring training with the big club in 2025. He needs more time in AAA, so he'll almost certainly end up starting the year there, though.

The Astros have a couple of years to play with before he's eligible for Rule 5, so they may try to avoid calling him up to the big club and having to add him to the 40-man roster for as long as they can. It would probably take a pretty serious injury or two at the big club to force them to bring him up in 2025, even if he looks ready.

I read Waldron won't be on the post season roster.
