cipsucks Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 Morning everyone! Tom Shatel has a nice column in this morning's paper on Tim Miles. After reading it, I remembered earlier this week he had another column on Nebraska basketball. I grab the sports section each morning as I'm running out the door. After reading his column on Dave Hoppen, I figured someone here would link it, and if no one did, I would when I got home. And, as the dottering old fool I am, I forgot about it. They're both good reads. Quote
tcp Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 liked the hoppen interview. thanks for posting the link. hhcmatt 1 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 Yup...play hard, win, and the fans will show up, stand up and cheer. Easy formula. Quote
CornHoopsters Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 I liked the beginning of the Hoppen interview. The last half he was asking Dave about CU for whatever reason. Dave's answers were pretty good. Just irked me that Shatel has to bring up CU in an interview about NU hoops with a Husker HOF'er who could care less about that program. Quote
hhcmatt Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 liked the hoppen interview. thanks for posting the link. Agreed Quote
lang Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 Yea, thanks for links Cip. I happended to glace over at the Hoppen's a few times yesterday. I couldn't help but remember a few times in Dave's career here when the other team was really full court pressing late out of desperation and Dave would fake at the half court and take off the other way and they'd throw him the bomb and he'd jam it home. Pretty cool that he's a season ticket holder and still supports the program. Quote
uneblinstu Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 I hope Hoppen doesn't have to pay for his tickets. If you've got a banner hanging in the building, you shouldn't have to ever buy a ticket ever again. I hope that's how it is. hhcmatt, tcp, Noah121 and 1 other 4 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 After reading both I now remember why I don't read the newspaper any more except for the comics, box scores, and something that my wife says I should read about. It was okay, but to me both seemed to be the "I need to write about Husker basketball now column so that we don't lose some of our subscribers" piece. I left a comment for him to keep this column so that he can rewrite for Creighton in a few years. Quote

But hey, why complain both when there are no articles, and then when there are articles. What else did you want him to write about Husker basketball? Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Because I feel that he doesn't really like or follow the husker basketball program right now. He'll jump on the bandwagon when we get good and make it sound like he has been there since the beginning. I have, so I don't mind anybody jumping on, but don't act like you have been there all along. I also felt that he was talking down to Husker fans, in a way it sounded like when somebody who doesn't know or want to talk to little kids sounds like. Kind of like W.C. Fields sounded like. Maybe just me, doesn't rally bother me that much because I don't read his column anyway. Only did because cip took the time to copy it and said it was a good read. That explain it good enough for you Tony? See how it sounds? Quote
