59 Nebraska student-athletes were named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars when the conference announced its highest scholastic honor team across all sports yesterday. To no ones surprise here Emily Wood was named as one of them representing the Husker women's basketball team!

I failed to mention that isn't the only honor she was awarded with this spring. Emily also earned the Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award across all the Husker women's sports in 2016-17. She was named one of Nebraska's Outstanding Scholar Award winners across all sports for her performance in the classroom. She is expected to be a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar for the second consecutive year in 2017, and is a two-time academic All-Big Ten choice.
