hhcmatt Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 Are we still going to pursue Maye with Allen signed? Seems like we might go 1. Post player 2. Pie in the sky Maye seems more like the Freshman PG who decides to transfer after a year we continuously bring on campus. Silverbacked1 and jdostal 2 Quote
AuroranHusker Posted April 26, 2017 Author Report Posted April 26, 2017 Nebraska needs good ballers. Bottom line. Quote

It is also possible Allen doesn't play as well as we hope. These things can be unpredictable. Quote

These things can be unpredictable. Well, yeah. It's why I'm throwing this stuff out here. It seems to me that when we started we were looking at a JUCO guard to come in here right away + a freshman guard that was either Maye or Pickford. However, we land Allen on the team and he might put up the minutes/numbers you were expecting from the JUCO. Are we looking to fill that guard spot with Maye, a JUCO, or maybe some other guard? Also in this time we've lost Ed and MJ. We've replaced some/all of Ed's minutes with Okeke. Is one more guy like Brase/Juco big going to do the job? Thus Do we have enough guard depth for this year? If not, can Maye be relied on to supply it? Next year you lose Gill and Taylor. Do we need a guard like Maye then? Do you feel confident he will wait that long? Is there a transfer guard out there who projects to be better in two years? Are Gill and Palmer good to go for next year? If so it seems like we need to add more size than guard depth. Given that's the case, a guy like Brase is a priority over Maye. Is Maye the guy we want with our last scholarship? All of this is a drawn out way of wondering if Maye is waiting on us, if we're waiting on Maye, or if it's both. royalfan 1 Quote
khoock Posted April 27, 2017 Report Posted April 27, 2017 (edited) I'd be fine with Maye and Brase. Ones a grad transfer and the other will just transfer next spring if he's not very good or thinks he should be getting more time. Guard depth is okay with Watson, Allen, Gill, ET, and Palmer. I always kinda like to have 6 guards. Not sure where to count Nana as I've read he's more of a wing atm. Edited April 27, 2017 by khoock Quote

hhcmatt Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 VCU. At the moment it seems as though we've broken the cycle of PG who probably won't get enough playing time and thus would transfer after his first year. Silverbacked1 1 Quote

It's just as well then I suppose. Quote
royalfan Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 It is just as well if we end up using the scholarships. If not, it is better to have him and see what happens. Quote

Assume we were still recruiting him as hard as we did before Allen signed. Does he still sign here? I'm not sure he does if he's looking for PT. royalfan 1 Quote
FredsSlacks Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 (edited) wish he had come here. i think he'll be really good in a couple years. I'm thinking miles wants guys that are going to contribute immediately. miles is on a short leash. no reason to bring in a 3rd string point guard. Edited May 11, 2017 by TimSmiles Quote
