With the loss of Romeo and the addition of Stallworth we have two players that are transfers. We have been told that Stallworth will have to sit out a year before we get to enjoy her play. Now the question I have is why Washington has asked to have Romeo's year waved? To me they have the same circumstances.

Nebraska fired their coach giving any transfer out of Nebraska the wavier possibility. where as U Mass didn't fire their coach.

They are the same cirumstances, I think it could have been a recruiting ploy to get Natalie to sign with the Huskies.

I looked it up and UMass fired their coach so both girls are in the same boat when it comes to their leaving their schools.

Good catch.  I didn't remember for sure if UMass did or not.

It also comes down to whether or not the person that's leaving is given a release from that school. Romeo was given a release so she can be eligible to play right away....if the NCAA grants it.

But....

The different conference's have their own rules too. So a transfer in from another conference (Div 1) may/or may....not be able to play immediately. (Don't think B1G allows it right away)

UMass may have not been given Stallworth a "release"...don't know.  If she wasn't she probably would have to sit a year.

As said before one of the new volleyball players had to sit out because her previous college wouldn't give her a release...and she had to sit a year.

UNL pays someone big $$ to figure it all out.

The articles I've read all report that Bria Stallworth must sit for a year because of transfer rules.  I have not read anything about a waiver being requested, or granted; but I assume that Coach Williams and her staff would would be exploring this avenue if there was any possibility, so I'm thinking she must sit out this year.  It would be great if she could play immediately though.

When their coach "resigned" (a/k/a was fired), two Husker women asked for releases that would allow them to look at other options.  One of the two was welcomed back; the other, who publicly defended the fired coach, was told not to let the door hit her in the ass on the way out.  If the University of Nebraska has anything to do with it, they should not stand in the way of Natalie playing this season.  Not when she was persona non grata basically from the moment she courageously spoke up in defense of her coach.
