jason2486 Posted April 8, 2016 Report Posted April 8, 2016 Did anyone see their bball twitter account congratulating Nova on their title? It said that the Big East has won 14 titles in MBB and WBB in the last 17 years. So now they include themselves with the "old" Big East. Gotta love the delusion. It just multiplied my hate for them. Oh, and pretty much every post below this ridiculous tweet called them out. https://mobile.twitter.com/BluejayMBB/status/717192619865014272 God I hope we kick their ass this coming season. Quote

The new Big East is a bombed-out shell of what they were created as in the early years. Most of the 'best' teams left for the ACC, anyway. And then the many multi-NCAA winners UConn Huskies are in the AAC (the "Big East," football-style). So whatev's new Big East. You have 1. Quote

Take away UCONN men & women who are no longer in the Big East and how many have they won. I think NOVA is the only current Big East member to have won a championship. So the correct answer is 1 in 17 years. Quote

So the correct answer is 1 in 17 years. Not in the last 17, but Georgetown won in 84 and Marquette in 77. Don't forget 'Nova in '85. So, it's basically just *1* title among the new Big East members in 30+ years. A likely better way to look at it: how many Final Four teams have the new Big East teams been to in those 30 years? That's a better indication of a conference's "national power" than merely winning the last game of the season (as only 1 team does that in the big dance). Quote
Norm Peterson Posted April 8, 2016 Report Posted April 8, 2016 I'd go as far as Sweet 16 appearances when judging a conference. Assign points: make a national title worth 50; a runner-up worth 40; Final 4 worth 30; Elite 8 worth 20; Sweet 16 worth 10. How would all the conferences rank over, say, the last 10 or 20 years? 49r Posted April 8, 2016 Report Posted April 8, 2016 The most embarrassing part about it is this is the *official* twitter account for the program: I mean, even if you could justify counting UConn Syracuse and Louisville (Men's and Women's) championships...no wait, you can't... SMH, Creighton. Quote

Coming into this tournament teams from the Old Big East outnumbered teams from the New* (worse) Big East by a margin of 6 to 1 since the new conferences inception. Quote
