  1. Other than the second qtr debacle...we were competitive and focused. Did a nice job really, just the second qtr. killed us when we lost momentum for about 5-7 min. When tourney time comes around, Iowa's not a strong defensive team, so other offenses will be tough for them. Particularly on neutral courts.
  2. Flop ! by 22 and get the foul
  3. 1st qtr Fast start....then you get way ahead...and then take out almost all your starters....then let then sit a couple of min...back n.
  4. As we all know it happens right here in the B1G. The home team can seem like they have one set of officials, and we have another. And yet the B1G doesn't do anything. Not just one school, but several. Can't recall which game right off hand, but we had like 27 fouls and they had 10 ...and they won. Want to say it's just part of the game. But the stakes are too high in big time 'in women's basketball.
  5. I've talked about the non stop subbing issues several times before. Certainly you need subbing occasionally but when there's no rhyme or reason to.....yeh it has always been a head scratcher. I get she want's to play everyone, but is it beneficial to the game in the end ? Most teams, mens and womens, particularly good ones, just don't do that. Entirely a Coaches decision. And said it recently...is a .600 record ok..and/or acceptable ultimately. Sure it's the B1G and a tough road. But it is what it is, and the team is hopefully able to match up and be competitive. While I''m whining...the failure to start strong many times, is a repeated problem. When we start well our chances of winning is great, but start slow...we're just not strong enough to over come usually. Just disappointing to see a squad with this much talent do what's been doing this year. Disappointed for the kids most of all. Injuries has sent in the wrong direction too. There's too much talent in the transfer pool to not seemingly.... take advantage. maybe coach is paying attention to it...we'll see. OK enough......no claim to be an expert...just frustrated I guess.
  6. Maybe should have played her more...may not have moved on Coach
  7. Obviously don't wish either of the Aussies to leave. They are great players. Great representatives of UNL. Just great people. As much as their meaning to the team is extremely valuable, they're still young women, that have lived away from home 3+ years....far away from family and friends...you can't go home for a long weekend when ever you feel like it. Will miss them when they go, but fully recognize what they have given the Team and University......and equally what they have given up.
  8. Do think the playing sports from a very early age can wear out joints, cartilage, etc Read something while back about the same issues. One doctor pointed out the simple fact that women just don't have the muscle tone, and joint structure of men. Nothing sexist about it, just physiology (sp).... nature created us this way. Joints are our weak like you might say.
  9. Thanks Alexis for putting the team on your back and carrying us to a win. Another double double and maybe 13 points in the 4th qtr. About 21 in the game. Nice job by Krull...gave us some drives to the basket when we were having trouble doing anything right. To many forced bad shots and weak defense on the perimeter. But the women came through in the clutch part of the game The Purdue coach is another whinner. What an ugly win......but a win it is .
  10. A must win. We're tied in B1G standings. Away game so beware. We aren't playing well at all in away games. Play like we did in the last 3 qtr's against OSU and we'll win. Play like the 1st qtr, and we'll suffer.
  11. Football (I know it's Row 6 Seat 10) but it's recruiting Just saw Coach Ruhl just got a transfer rush end from U of Georgia. (a former 5* out of high school) Ga. is loaded with rush ends. Ruhl (and staff) seem to be recruiting machines ! Already up to 4th in B1G's 2023 class. Moved up about 15+ spots recruiting nationally. They'll be a completely different team next season. Amazing what's happening.
  12. Been said already but.... Watched the game again on BTN+....... The difference in the 1st qtr was we just didn't make the shots and they did. They got a fast start and we shot poorly. After 1stt qtr, it was a battle fought pretty evenly. On to the next one.... GBR
  13. Yep, almost a double - double against the top team in the B1G. And getting double teamed most of the time..... She seems to love the battle.
  14. Three's either...like 4 fore 24 now...(mid 4th qtr) Make higher percentage of shots we're in the game...same old story
  15. Just checked on Ohio St center. She 23..(at least that's what the OSU site says), and played on her Slovakian National Teams for about three years before coming to the US to be a freshman in college. Started playing on national teams in about 2016...that would make her about 15 or 16 then Played for the club team Piestanske Cajky for three seasons in the highest league in Slovakia. Helped her team win the Slovakian Cup in 2017 and finish runner-up in the Central Europe women’s league.
  16. O State is about two step steps quicker, but we're getting up to speed. We like the speed game too. They're just so deep with quickness and shooting skills. May be one of the most aggressive teams we've seen this year.. Easy to see why they're #3
  17. Don't know the medical details, and each person is probably somewhat different, but for her to be walking around in a few days would seem kind of unusual. My nephew had ACL surgery, and was on crutches for over two weeks. And even then wasn't supposed to walk much at all, for the first couple of weeks after crutches, then progressed to more walking, etc etc. Nowadays, everyone is made to get up real soon after various surgeries, so she must be on that sort of track. She's young, so healing should be fairly rapid. Regardless of all that.... hope she heals permanently, and can join the team as soon as it works for her. And most of all she is OK from now on. Two of my son's had one of their knees scoped and repaired (not the same as an ACL tear of course), but healed up successfully and haven't had any effects years since. But as a parent you really worry when it happens.
  18. To put it simply, Coach has about a .625 record while at Nebraska, doing things under her direction. Player coaching, team offensive and defensive schemes, game management, recruiting, roster management, etc etc. Such that it is.... Is that what is needed for the program to be successful in the long run? Is it where it needs to be going forward? On this forum we can be pretty demanding, and real disappointed when we lose. Fan expectations to high? The BIG is a tough conference. Had better record while at previous schools.
  19. See this as a pick em game. Either could win, but our home court is worth maybe 10. Feel real confident we will come out angry after the Rutgers disappointment. BTN+ broadcast
  20. While everything mentioned previous is probably true, the game of course showed our dependency on three shooting. It may have also demonstrated our lack of the short to mid range shot. And driving to the basket. We kind of got overwhelmed at Rutgers. Deer in the headlights look maybe. Need coaching and players that respond with fearless fight to win. (doesn't every team ?) Hopefully Coach Amy can get them out of the disappointed dumps, and fire them up. This teams a pretty proud group, so see them turning it around. With our offense anyone in the paint is on their own. Not many inside passes between fellow players. But we do show flashes of it. Lastly, like mentioned already, we do need the Weidner toughness, and fearless type player(s). Krull comes close in her temperament. Issie, Sam, etc etc. There are others too.
  21. We were unprepared to play...not the first time. Poor shooting is a lack of focus, and simply not ready to compete.
  22. Can't believe this **** we're doing will last much longer....the street ball chaos is throwing us for a loop. Rutgers isn't very good, but right now we're worse. 11 min and no scores Calm down and play our brand of ball. We need a Weidner to play this kind of balll. She thrives on it.
  23. Yes, for sure, when you look at it with 5 defenders and three Refs to deal with we still did really well. There's reasons we didn't score in the post. Two or three things were happening (done by Indiana) to prevent low post scoring. One, and obvious, was double and triple teaming Alexis and Maggie (and anyone else getting inside) Indiana knew what damage Alexis could do if they just played her one on one. Got to give it to Indiana coaches, they had a plan. They knew they probably couldn't stop Alexis with only one defender. (We've seen this before, it wouldn't be the last time) Another is close guarding of our guards to prevent passes inside, and fouling a lot....that wasn't called ....and it entered into it too. But ultimately,,,the free throws difference was....the difference
  24. Getting homered. There one play late in game where Sam was trying to shoot a layup, or up close to the basket....and she got knocked to the floor by two Indy players...no foul. Issie was surrounded by three players and also knocked to the floor...no foul. Alexis was fouled about every time she got surrounded...no fouls Sad that B1G officials are that biased, or afraid of the crowd, or what ever ....and let it affect the game to that extent. We kind of abandoned our offensive schemes that worked fairly well all game long.... in the overtime.
  25. Ohio St just beat Mich. by about 10. Brown fouled out and another Mich girl. Brown was on the edge to a technical when she fouled out and at games end. It was a slugfest....could have been 25-30 more total fouls that didn't get called...(by both teams) Very aggressive defenses. The type we have problems handling. Athletic play by both teams. Ohio St's big... is big. European probably. Either one are probably sweet 16 teams or better.
