  1. Maybe I'm nuts.... but.....watching the game....at times, I thought we seemed to lack a lot of confidence. The losses beforehand, may have put a little doubt in their heads. Never saw many smiles until late, then Cady got the long pass an scored. But we were tied or behind most of the game too, so they had to stay focus all the game long. Teams are focusing their defense on Rachel....hold her down and we have trouble getting enough scoring from the rest of the team. We need 3 shooting good for maybe 15 pts/game..... and post help ...on the boards (inside scoring and rebounding). You know .....the things Hopper where was so good. Talk about gutting out a win....wow ....right to the end. Good stuff girls ! We took that one away from Mich St

  6. Im no doctor (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express ) but I would generally think that this would be a 6-9 month rehab for an 18 year old girl. So say, for instance, she has surgery next Wednesday (January 7) I would possibly expect her back at or near full speed by the first day of practice next fall. 6 months would be July 7th and 9 months would be October 7th. Which would mean she would not be able to participate on the summer foreign trip to Australia. For reference Leslie Smith tore his acl on July 3rd had surgery a few weeks later and should now return to playing without restrictions here in a few weeks. This would be about a 6 month turnaround- granted he is a big strong male athlete so recovery time should be less. She may well miss the USA team tryouts next summer......she really wanted to try to do it again. Just hope she recovers and is well for the long term. Both of my youngest son's had one of their knees scoped and repaired at about 11 or 12 yrs, and both recovered in short order, and have no issue a fews years later.....but they weren't torn ACL's either.

  8. She seems to have a skill for getting to the basket for quick rebouinds. She dosen't sit under the basket but rather is on the move to get rebounds. Not sure but she may of had the most rebounds against MInn. More scoring from her would help, but her knack for getting to loose balls is very valuable.
  9. Kind of looked like we were gassed.... the last 10 min or so.....the kids just got tired. Minn kept subbing and we couldn't respond in kind. A few bad calles and we coundn't respond well enough. We just aren't deep enough......never thought I'd say that last fall...but we're there for the time being.

  11. Needs a little bit more touch on her shot. But as she gains PT that should take care of it self hopefully. And that baby, hook she needs to work on that move as well IMHO. She seems to do OK when she has a chance to get set and shoot. When she's hurried...sometimes affects her shot. But as said, she's putting in good minutes, and looks much more confident in what she's doing now. We need Kalenta back too for inside help. What was a big class of newbies.....isn't showing up on the court for the reasons we all know about. Still wonder about all the leg issues that sidelined so many.....that's got to be solved...and i'm sure the staff is trying to figure it out.
  12. Jessica Shepard joins the top 20 players in the nation on the Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year Watch List announced Tuesday by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. I think she's averaging about 33 pts/game this year... ...it's tough to wait another season for her to be in the red and white !
  13. Just looked at the list and NU is now 10th . NU is highest ranked BIG team..... now at 10th. Washington is 19th So Carolina 9th ? Green Bay 5th ?
  14. We had trouble guarding the 3....and they shot 50%. ...30 points worth. That was pretty much all they had. Ugly game...but a win. One foul on Hallie .....on the screen was bogus. Her 3 points under pressure was awsome. Creighton thought fouling her would win it for them.....not ! If we don't get a lot more playing time for the rookies, next year is going to be tough.
  15. Exactly... .....maybe Dad & Mom didn't realize the kids are in another level of play...major college. If Kaylee was more capable than the starters, I'm sure she would have played more. But it would have been a completely different story next year. May have been a star in HS...but this isn't HS anymore. Way too soon to make this kind of decision. But...it's apparently done.....really unfortunate.
  16. They were just out of sync, and looked tired from the trip to west coast. Missed lots of shots they usually make. May have put the bench in too soon....(maybe should have waited until second half).., and then had trouble regrouping, after NC got fired up. Nice to see Smith finally get a little time on the floor. She looked nervous and a little lost.....but that's to be expected. Hallie only took one shot. Ugly but will still counts as a win. Move on to the next one...and get ready to rock !
  17. The nature of the game is probably why more bench didn't play. We were behind most of the game. It took all the experienced players to get the win. Probably didn't want to potentially slow/stop the flow of the our game by putting new blood in the game. Hopefully we will as time goes on...we'll seriously need some game experience next year for sure. The name of the game is to win.....even if the young ones may not play, That's the reality.
  18. Anything new on possible 2016 recruits? ...........It seems to be awfully quiet.
  19. That, and maybe our speed at guard may get more points going to the basket in the half court game.....and the speed can create some fast break points...T, Rachel, Brandi, Romeo, and others...... all the guards may be a new and more used phase of our game...tonight and all year. We may well be a bit more of a 3 shooting team too. We just may be a different kind of team offensively this year. We'll also have some speed at wing also that can be used to our advantage.
  20. I didn't think Yori like to redshirt players, Whats up. She doesn't, but that doesn't mean she never would. Very rare, but possible. My guess is Kalenta's development has put a redshirt of Washington on the table. If she isn't in line for many minutes, it might be a good decision. I've been part of the redshirt discussion before....it would seem that Connie has more options now, (7 good newbies this year and 4 more next) where redshirting may now be a more viable option. Washington has only played about 3 years of organized ball, so she needs to catch up skill wise, and game speed, and game IQ. I think I heard on radio....Washinton has even suggested redshirting. I too see Kalenta helping to fill the void at low post help for the next couple of years. (got room to improve, and adjust to game speed, but she's showing the signs) She's has enough experience before getting here to have a feel for the college game. Kalenta will also help "push" Havers to improve also. Kalenta reminds me, a little, of Cady from a couple of years ago. They both play hard. Yori seems to be pleased with Kalenta's progress. And she can shoot the 3 !
  21. I watched part of the Duke/Ala. game on TV.....and Duke is the real deal. Very athletic overall...and had good height. The freshman class is excellent.... ...one of the guards is a very agile 6-4 or 6-5
  22. Could only listen to the 2nd half on line.......sounded like Brandi, Kalenta, and many of the young ones really had nice games.
  23. Yea...I mentioned before that I thought I had seen Maddie in Denver last summer (there was a tourney going on there), and she looked taller than the 6' or 6-1 as advertised. ...must be closer to 6-2 or so.... ....in any event....great looking huskers of the future !
  24. It's really probably a lot of both. Hoopers gone ...playing without Hoops.........and trying blend in the newbies. A lot of experimenting for the next 2 or 3 weeks .....to bad that Smith is out, That would certainly speed up the process of getting that belnd of players, and substitution figured out. The injury to Kalenta probably has slowed her down...but to have nose surgery and then play a few days later.....gutsy
