  1. Not going to sneak up on many more if we are good enough to play daytons guards to a standstill. We'll see how we do tonight. ucla has no reason to take us seriously either.
  2. rpi jumped to #44 from about 100
  3. Beyond outstanding. he was facing head to head some top line guards and he was awesome.
  4. Depends on if we can score 80-85 again. We shoot well? sure, we got a shot. They're going to put up some points. given that theyre young too they might be a little shocked that the other side is going to play a little defense though which could give us an edge. Our sophomores have way more high end experience than most sophomores so we might even have an experience edge. I wouldnt call an upset outright but I don't think I'd be completely shocked after last night.
  5. Giggly giddy. this was an ncaa team and our team of freshmen and sophomores just took it to them. daytons guards will give a ton of teams nightmares. they're the classic guard heavy team with experience that will be a nightmare matchup in march. Sure we almost gave it away but growing pains happen. and that's exactly why this is so exciting -- dayton clawed its way back like experienced teams should. we bent like young teams do. And we fought back repeatedly and didn't break. and won. First time in literal years you can see a light and LOUD horn of a train coming down the tunnel.
  6. Ed morrow is a beast. he's going to eat alive small lineups like this
  7. Anyone who isn't impressed so far doesn't know what they're talking about. Our starters are flat out spanking a fairly solid ncaa team. freshman need work but that's life.
  8. I think if we make the NIT we could win it in a rout -- because with our schedule making .500 with a lineup this young screams late gelling and a VERY good team next year. I've got a lot of hope for this group. I think we've got the right players and i think Miles is the right coach for them. I'm fighting a little of the husker basketball long-term depression right now where it's hard to really believe -- because it's been a LONG time since we've had this much talent.
  9. sounds right to me. doesn't get counted, instead of being counted negatively.
  10. dayton... i'm fat fingered on my phone. as bad as it sounds i don't try to correct most of the typos because it would take 5x as long
  11. As simplistic as it sounds that sayton game could define/jumpstart our season. 2-1 out there with a win over dayton abd people start watching. And not only in nebraska. No shame losing at kansas or even at clemson. Take 2 of three and they're over decent rpi teams that early? With this many underclassmen? To me that's the goal. ... or we could try and win all three. I'm good with that.
  12. Jeez if the rest of the team is as focused as he sounded.... we will surprise a few people
  13. What's your definition of breakout? I think all show considerabl improvement.
  14. i'm looking forward to this year more than any in the last 20 or so... that run a few years back to the ncaa's came out of the blue... what miles has built so far has taken time, patience, and talent dont get me wrong, i don't think we'll be a finished product this year, but we've got a shot at growing into something pretty good in a year to a year and a half and i want to enjoy the ride.
  15. yeah that'll help inside this year...
  16. shouldn't that read 2016-17?
  17. I think it was said at some point that AW3 wasn't going to come back if we didn't land a big. He also demanded 67 copies of Moby Dick, a football helmet full of cottage cheese, and nude photos of Bea Arthur. You forgot the giant baby bottle.
  18. The 5th year market basically looks like week 6 of a going out of business sale...picked over. It was either this or yet another freshman reach. i'd rather lock up a guy for 2 years that can help -- even if minimally -- than be operating on probation... hopefully we find another guy in here somewhere -- who knows, people transfer late for screwed up reasons.
  19. I don't see how this possibly hurts us. if we got anybody other than a big, we needed a pass-first guy who could handle the ball. i think he's good enough to do what we need... one can hope anyway.
  20. new zealand had a double digit lead in the 4th and got beat... tai with 9 and 8 boards, 2 assists and 2 steals, brother corey with 21. they play canada in the semifinals. http://www.rappler.com/sports/by-sport/basketball/fiba/138995-fiba-oqt-france-nz-recap interesting how according to this, tai was the most efficient player on the court with a ton of nba players : http://www.fiba.com/oqt/philippines/2016/0707/New-Zealand-France (click on game story toward middle of page)
  21. Will they be quality minutes though? No disrespect to Jordy at all...as he appears to have the makup of being a good one but true freshmen at the center position usually have a rough go at it. With that said, I guess it won't take much to improve upon what we got out of the 5 last year. We have had a number of freshmen who have come in and became good contributors in year one. Looking back, one could argue that taking a redshirt year may have been the better route, but quite frankly taking that route in basketball is rare these days. Jordy has the size and he already has a good offensive arsenal. He has the chance to become an excellent offensive threat for the Huskers. But where he should really provide a benefit is on the defensive end. He should be able to bang against the other "bigs" given his current size. He also has a tremendous wing span and will protect our paint...something that we lacked last year. So yes, there will be ups and downs; and yes, there will be a learning curve; but yes, I do believe Jordy will provide quality minutes. I am guessing somewhere between 18 to 25 minutes per game. I also believe that Miles understands match ups. There will be games that Jordy will be expected to handle more minutes than other games. Freshmen will make freshmen mistakes, but I am guessing Jordy will be loaded and ready to go; especially when the Big Ten season begins. Aleks Maric averaged 21 minutes, 8 points and 6.3 rebounds as a true freshman. That was on a team that had John Turek as a returning starter at center. very possible to be in that range if he's as good as we hope.
  22. he'll play part of the game against parker at least. another pretty solid nba guard, evan fournier from the magic is on their roster too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Fournier let's be honest -- france's backcourt blows any B1G backcourt he's faced out of the water. like i said, if he puts up those numbers against france even some cynical nba scouts will notice.
  23. i'll be honest.... he looked good in those highlights. we'll know more the next game -- he puts up one of those against tony parker and he'd make even the most cynical nba scout blink a little.
  24. Totally rooting for him but that team isn't good enough to make the Olympics Here is the live stream of today's game vs Philippines http://live.shwidget.com/static/freeplay/385506873401260.html probably not, that's why rooting against him is so he can be back here for training is so weak. would take a pair of guys shooting out of their mind against france in the knockout stage to win that bracket IMO.
