I like the hype. It's good for recruiting and for getting out fan base excited. Plus, it's not like Terran is going to start taking it easy because we're ranked high. After getting a taste of success last year and the way the season ended, I think our guys will be hungrier than ever.
-
Ed also has impressive footwork in the post. Doug McDermott isn't the biggest guy either, but his post footwork is tremendous. If you watch Ed's highlights and his game against Okafor, he seems to have some of that same ability.
-
If you want to watch Ed's playoff game against Jahlil Okafor, it was a hell of a game: http://www.highschoolcube.com/event/whitney-young-vs-simeon-marist-sectional-semifinal-343620 I don't think Ed missed a shot and had a couple of sick dunks. Unfortunately, he got in foul trouble, but what an effort against the probable #1 NBA Draft Pick next year.

Well, I tuned in just in time to see Tai turn it over and then commit an intentional foul
-
Nope, looks like they went to the Saltdogs game:
-
Myles Turner went from unranked to the #9 recruit in the country last year.

#FirstWorldProblems I understand it could be a good problem to have.....I just think we need to add depth inside more than we need another point guard. Hammond is the only underclassman we have that plays inside.
-
While I'd be thrilled to land a Top 100 recruit, it's going to be hard to keep all the point guards happy the next couple of years. Are there enough minutes for Webster, Smith, Parker, and Watson?
-
I don't think we're still in it for Baptiste. I didn't hear anything about us recruiting him this summer. It would be nice to land another "big" since Moses will only be here for one year.

Just when I thought Miles had done it all....

We need to get KU on the schedule in the next 2 years. -
I will be sick if he picks the Hawkeyes. Much like Andrew White, we have been persistent with Ed from the beginning. We had the whole staff sitting courtside at many of his AAU games. We have the family connection. Unless someone like Duke or Kansas offers, it would be an upset if he did not pick the Huskers.

Andrew White III - Kansas Transfer

Tim Miles just followed Andrew White on Twitter. Take it for what it's worth. -
Gary Gaskins 6'10 PF Transfer
The Coach replied to Brandon4Real_X's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I'm guessing it means that he wouldn't be eligible this season. If he had immediate eligibility, I don't think all of his visits would have been cancelled. But I don't think he's worth holding a scholarship for 2 years. -

Gold is one of Maryland's colors. We are screwed. -

He is visiting Maryland today. Have to believe this is what he was holding out for. Unless the visit goes terribly, I expect him to be a Terp. -

That has to be good news for us, unless he also texted the Richmond basketball beat writer. -
The only CU commitment (according to Rivals), since its Baylor "Junior Varsity" debacle at the end of last season, is Patton. Maybe CU gets this Watson guy. Maybe not. Don't like NU's chances with Watson, because of Tarin Smith's progress as the point guard for the next four years. In any event, doubt Watson ends up at CU--but no one really knows. The late addition of other schools to the fray, however, does not seem to bode well for either CU or NU. Creighton did add several good transfer players though - Maurice Watson, Cole Huff, Ricky Kreklow. McDermott is a fairly good recruiter, but I've never really been sold on his coaching ability, especially on the defensive side of the ball. As for Glynn Watson - honestly his film doesn't impress me much. With Tarin's progress, I'd rather we focus on other positions this year and then try to sign a stud point guard in 2016.

Gary Gaskins 6'10 PF Transfer
The Coach replied to Brandon4Real_X's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
The guy lived out of his car. I doubt he could afford to pay out of state tuition to walk-on. He's only going to a school that can offer him a scholarship. Yeah, and if he's eligible immediately, it wouldn't hurt to give him a scholarship - we have 2 open. Even if he doesn't contribute much, he'd be a tall, athletic presence in practice and scout team. After all he's been through, I just want to see this kid finish his college degree and turn his life around. -
Gary Gaskins 6'10 PF Transfer
The Coach replied to Brandon4Real_X's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Yes I imagine the coaches will work him out during his visit to see if they think he can contribute. I would also think they'd wait to see if he is eligible immediately before offering. -
I worry a little bit that he might become homesick ala Nate Hawkins though...judging by his tweets this summer. UNL/Lincoln can be a very lonely place during the summer. Once all the students move back in the fall I think he'll be fine.

He looks like he's about 12 years old in that picture

2015 PF Michael Jacobson - Signed
The Coach replied to FredsSlacks's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I watched some high school game film of Jacobson today online. I think we got a good one. Very good shooter, great instincts, aggressive, plays hard, good ball skills. He reminds me a lot of a typical Wisconsin big man. If he can bulk up, he's going to be a solid Big Ten player. -
Gary Gaskins 6'10 PF Transfer

In the articles I have read on Gaskins, nothing tells me he has an attitude problem. Bought a car by working at a fast food restaurant so he could live in said car and attend community college to become a mechanic. This after the Air Force didn't work out for him (injured in basic training and honorably discharged). Works through the JUCO route to get to D1 attention after being noticed at a local gym, makes it but leaves the team mid-season and then goes missing for days a couple months back? This screams of underlying mental health issues, not an attitude problem. Actually seems the kid works hard and just has trouble maintaining stability in pursuit of those goals. That sort of cycle is quite indicative of poor mental health. I agree, I don't think he has an attitude problem. It sounds more like he may suffer from depression. Here is what Travis Ford had to say about him: "It's not disciplinary, he's good with us. We talk to him. Gary's been through a lot in his life. A lot. He needs to get around people and do some things where right now, it's tough for him here to get what he needs.”
