I bet the author is pretty bummed about last season. Probably would have sold a lot more copies if we hadn't sucked last year.

How about Russell Springmann? -
Hunter was the lead recruiter and Morrow and Watson. He was also responsible for Andrew White.
-
I don't think we are on Lightfoot's radar. He is ASU's to lose - decommitted after Bobby Hurley reached out to him.
-
I believe Harriman was the lead recruiter on Jacobson as well. I agree that we need to see who Miles brings in to replace him before we get too upset about this. But as we saw with Doc, lots of staff and roster turnover every year is not a good thing when you are trying to build a program. It's starting to feel like deja vu.
-
At least Mathews and Benford left for major programs (UCLA and Marquette). Losing Harriman to a mid-major school, after all the support his family has received here, is a bit troubling. You have to wonder if he and Miles had some differences. He's getting more money, will be the defacto #2, and New Mexico has a good basketball program. If his goal is to become a HC, does staying here seem like the right move? We could have easily offered him more money and a fancier title. Craig Smith went directly from being an assistant here to being a D-I head coach, so I don't see how staying here will hurt his HC goals. How many guys go from Mountain West assistant to D-I head coach? New Mexico just lost one of their assistants to an assistant job at Bradley for God's sake. It's not that great of a program.

I wish we would have hired Rich Brodersen as the PA announcer. He does a great job at the state tournament.

Akoy Agau -> Louisville -> Georgetown

I wish him well, but I don't see him getting much more playing time at Georgetown. The Hoyas have 3 freshman power-forwards this year who are all pretty good players, and 2 more Top 100 post players coming in next year. -

Andrew White, Terran, Shavon, Fuller and Tarin can all shoot from the wing. We need a threat inside to force the defense to collapse and open the outside for these guys. More importantly, we need a rebounding and defensive presence inside. McVeigh does not look very strong or very quick. Even if he's a good shooter, I don't think he'll be ready defensively to guard wings in the Big Ten.
-
If Terran goes pro, that would open up a scholarship. I have my doubts about McVeigh. Maybe it's because Tai was overhyped. Remember Aleks was from Australia and he turned out pretty well. I'm just not sure we need another wing right now.
-
I think we all want bigs but they dont just grow on trees and the good ones are guys that everyone wants. If we cant get them I want to go out and get the best athletes and shooters available that can play multiple positions and try and out gun the other team. McVeigh seems like a guy that would fit that quality. Nick Fuller seemed like that guy too. McVeigh seems a lot like Fuller, - good outside shooter, but not quick enough to be a guard at this level, and not big enough to be a post. His film doesn't really impress me much. And as Webster has shown, International success doesn't necessarily translate to success here. With White, Jacobson, and Morrow coming in, I just think we should try to use the scholarship on Agau or a senior transfer post player. But if Fuller and/or Hammond decide to transfer, then that changes things.
-
I'd rather we use the scholarship on a true post player (unless Fuller, Webster or Hammond transfers). McVeigh doesn't seem much different from Fuller and Jacobson. Plus we'll have Andrew White and Isaiah Roby in the future as well. We need some muscle down low. I like Morrow but he is only 6'7.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: ed 7, vol 8 - Hawaii
The Coach replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the way Nebraska is trying to break the press. It is a lack of execution and sorry about my redundancy, but lack of mental toughness. Right now they are playing to not make a mistake instead of attacking which guarantees mistakes will be made more often than not. There is no magic press break or everyone would be using it. They need to demonstrate the ability to understand the basic principles in breaking pressure and then execute them. Same thing with the offense. There are no magic offensive plays, they need to demonstrate they understand how to play the game. Lack of execution? You sound like Bo Pelini. If D-I college players struggle with understanding the basic principles of breaking a press, then the coach has done a very poor job of preparing them. -

Remember how bad our press break was against Ohio State last year in the Big Ten tournament? After that, you would think the press break would have been a major point of emphasis. But somehow, it's gotten even worse this year. I've seen junior high girls teams that can break a press better. -

Doc's leftovers (Benny and Rivers) are the only ones with any mental toughness out there. All of Miles' guys are soft. -
The game will be replayed on ESPNU at 11pm CST.

If this was just one bad game, I wouldn't be concerned. But we have looked like absolute garbage ever since the 2nd half of the Big Ten tourney game against Ohio State.
