With as much zone as we're playing now, I don't understand why Miles doesn't put him in the middle of it.

Different positions We play a lot of guys out of position. Position doesn't really matter much in Miles' system. Rivers and Hawkins are about the same size. I liked what I saw out of Rivers last year much more than what I've seen of Hawkins so far this year.

Why is Hawkins playing over Rivers? I think Nate will be a fine player but he is not ready for Big Ten basketball.

UMass is not looking like a bad loss now. They beat Top 25 New Mexico by 10 more points than they beat us, and if they hold on against Clemson, that will be the 4th major-conference team they have beaten already. UAB is a bad loss, unless they can somehow beat UNC next Sunday. Cannot afford to go 0-3 against Miami, Creighton, and Cincinnati. Need to steal at least one of those. Miami will probably be the most winnable of the 3.

Better do a lot of defensive slides this week in practice. Also not a big fan of the "one person dribble while everyone else just stands around" offense. Good things happen when we actually get the ball reversed and set screens away from the ball.

I didn't see the game, but looking at the box score, apparently we didn't think it was wise to stop the guy who scored 34 points yesterday. And I'm sure glad we traded Fahro for Vooch.

Interesting. If we do sign him I hope we also pick up a JUCO big guy too. We need an immediate contributor in the post next year, and I think this guy and Hammond will take a couple of years to develop into Big Ten caliber players.

Do people redshirt at Louisville? Yes, ironically they redshirted a raw Sudanese post player just last year (Mangok Mathiang) Senior Forward Stephan Van Treese was also a redshirt

Not to beat a dead horse, but Akoy again didn't even play tonight in a 40-point blowout. I'm seriously wondering what's going on with him. If he's that lost out there, why wasn't he redshirted?

I definitely saw this...was he trying to check himself into the game or something? Where was Doc when he needed him! Yeah I remember one game Doc's first year, somebody actually did check themselves into the game during a timeout. I think it was Kyle Marks, and I just remember Doc looking at him in the timeout like "why the hell are you sitting down?". I don't think Doc was expecting anyone to take his "sub yourself into the game" speech seriously.

Groce is struggling to get Chicago talent so far. Okafor, Alexander, White all going out of state. Minnesota also unable to keep in-state talent, even after poaching Ben Johnson from us. Tyus Jones to Duke, Reid Travis to Stanford, J.P. Macura to Xavier, and not looking great for Rashad Vaughn.

And Agau and Tummala are like the last guys off the bench for their respective teams. Agau did not even play with his team up by 38 at one point. Tummala logged 7 minutes in a 36-point win.
