  1. FWIW i've heard the same as Hooper has here. That being said..I'm not to worried about Biggs staying in line.
  2. Any angst there was, was justified.
  3. Thank you.
  4. To be correct though...he didn't win his conference the year he was fired.
  5. only if he doesnt want to play for the new coach or the new coach doesnt want him. He signed his LOI so it would have to be mutual to be released. It doesn't have to be mutual, does it? I thought the NCAA allows recruits out of LOIs if the coach goes elsewhere? No...the school usually agrees to the release in those cases but it's not an automatic thing
  6. You don't think he would want to stay in the Big Ten with the success the conference has had during the season and in the NCAA Tourney? You could very well be right, but I would think that Miles would give it another shot, especially since it doesn't seem like he is one of the recruits that won't give Nebrasketball a chance because of the Nebraska winter weather. I mean if he was fine with Minnesota winter weather, then Nebraska would be a step in the warmer direction. The other advantage I could see with Miles is that he has at least some sort of relationship already established with him, because he has recruited him. The new Minnesota coach might not have been in contact with him at all. So there's that I guess. Also, since his other 2 finalists were Tennessee and Auburn, when Foster committed to Minnesota, I'm sure that Tennessee and Auburn continued recruiting other players on their list. Do they even have a spot left for him? Maybe there isn't a spot for him at those schools anymore. I have no idea. Just throwing that out there. If we sign Atewe and Sai... we do not have a spot for him... Unless someone leaves. I think we have hashed that out before. Different frame of reference though
  7. This to me would be ideal for the last spot after Atewe
  8. Or maybe we just need the help upfront and want a more immediate contributor than relying on Atewe as a true frosh
  9. He's gonna be mentioned for almost every major job opening. If he turned down Illinois last year, he's not going to Minnesota now.

  11. Unless Creighton has some impact player redshirting or coming in...we will beat them if McDermott leaves. Losing GE, Gibb and McDermott is a huge loss for that team. Manigat, Wragge and Chatman are nice players when they are playing alongside a great one (Doug) and a couple of other solid ones (GE & Gibbs) but when you take them away and teams play them honestly...not sure how good they are. I'll take Rey, Shields and Rivers over Manigat, Wragge and Chatman
  12. 2011-2012 FGCU in the non-con is not the same team as a 2012-2013 FGCU in the postseason. The critcism was just.
  13. That shot may have been...but he made some big mistakes down the stretch though too
  14. Yeah....we aren't better than either one of those teams.
  15. Committee also did a terrible job this year in seeding...lots of these 12s are more like 7s and 8s.
  16. We're also the only one who has stepped up a level in competition. Everyone else is playing at a lower level since we left. Pac 12 (Colorado) and SEC (Mizzou) are both worse than the old Big 12 (and Big 10) and the Big 12 is down.
  17. Terrible move. We've been here before...it was called the Big 12 North
  18. And somewhere Benny Parker cries. Parker has the handles and the quickness. If he can consistently hit a jumper he'll be in the mix. I think the remark from Miles and my sensationalist topic title speaks more towards the flexibility of Pettaway as opposed to him playing point. Just don't see it with Parker.
  19. Only if you want to create the argument you want to hear the other party making. I never said anything about how his scholarship opened up. I think Benny should be allowed to stay before cutting him. That doesn't mean that I don't think we can't find a better player or fill a bigger need with an open spot in the 2014 class.
  20. Never said we should cut him. Just said I think we'd be better off using his scholarship elsewhere. That just seems like a semantical argument to me. Don't really see much difference between the two unless Parker leaves on his own, which it doesn't sound like will happen. Parker leaving on his own is part of this equation. Isn't the thread title asking who is leaving? I never once said we should cut someone. I just said we'd be better off if he left.
  21. Again...never said we should cut him. I said we would be better off if he left. Him leaving on his own and us cutting him are two different things.
  22. Never said we should cut him. Just said I think we'd be better off using his scholarship elsewhere.
  23. If you can't replace Parker...than Miles isn't who we think he is. I'm not too worried about filling the void that Parker's absence would cause. But that doesn't make it wise to just kick him out the door. We're not the L.A. Lakers or even the Kentucky Wildcats. I realize it probably has happened and will happen again, but that doesn't mean it should. If Parker decides to move on, so be it, but i'm not in favor of moving a capable player out just because you can. Real real debateable as to how capable he is. At least if you have expectations of being a quality team. The Laker and Wildcat argument could be used against your point in this case. not really. I'm saying we're not a professional organization moves players as they see fit or a program that should be turning over players just because they can. We wouldn't be turning players over because we can....we'd be doing it because we need to.
  24. You can take it how you want to. This is my point. Parker is not a legit Big 10 basketball player. If he is playing significant minutes for us...then we aren't very good and some other guys busted. It is very very very likely that Biggs and Webster will be better than he is. And because of that...there won't be many minutes for him. We have some pretty big holes in the frontcourt that we need to have filled. While it is no guarantee that we garner a hit with any scholarship offer....having a 3rd string point guard isn't helping us either. As GATA pointed out....guys like Parker are a dime a dozen. Parker won't offer us much, ever....the new scholarship player could.
  25. You would be shocked if Vooch left? The guy hardly played in a season where we desperately needed bodies. I'd prefer he stays because he's a big, and we need that. Guys like Parker, in my opinion, are a dime a dozen. I'm by no means pushing him out, but I wouldn't mind seeing him leave so we can use that scholarship on a player with much more potential. Just my opinion... Well said. As it's been said already...if Parker is still playing 15-20 mpg next year.....a couple of our guys aren't what we thought they were. Not saying he is going to go. Just saying if you give me the choice between Parker and an open scholarship....I think the latter will be a bigger help for us long term.
