I always felt the same way. Things seemed different without the bleacher floor seating for the students. It really felt different for the high school state tournament. I like the PBA but I think the Bob was better for watching a game.

Yup. Makes you wonder if this was in the works for a while. Always thought high school coaching was a little different from college as far as hiring and stability goes, but this does not sound like a good situation to me.

It is all part of the game. Usually the AD will ask permission from the other AD to talk to a coach under contract. I wonder if that has happened here.

I really liked Ed's effort on the boards, something we have not had a lot of over the years but going forward I was concerned that his foot injury would be constant and he would never be the player we hoped for. I really wonder where he will end up and if it is true he wants to play the wing I don't see a coach in the nation that will watch film of him and say I want that guy to by my 3 man. Hope it works out for him, but I don't see a program, big or small that will have him play outside.

Jeff Smith is retiring at Lincoln Southeast. That means Omaha Central, Lincoln SE and Omaha Westside coaching positions all come open the same year.

I was never on that floor but Midland, Doane and Kearney's Junior High had the same type of floor. (among others) It was suppose to be next big thing but I think it was determined that the tartan floor caused knee injuries and were not easy to keep clean and in good condition.

Did anyone hear Frank Martin's post game talk with the press? I have always thought Martin was kind of shady and a bit of an ass, but a young reporter from SI kids complimented his defense and asked him if it was more important to teach attitude on defense or a team system (paraphrasing here) I thought Martin was going to light him up and after a pause he told him that was best question a reporter has ever asked him (and then said attitude was more important) I thought it was a cool moment for the kid and a little bit funny knock on the other media people. Kind of changed my opinion of Martin and I think he has really matured as a coach.

Many schools had to send the balls back because they would become oblong after just a few practices. I think they have improved the quality of the ball but many felt the NSAA made a huge mistake with that contract.

I hated those brand new out of the box Wilson Jets. Once they got worked in they were fine, but man they were slippery out of the box. Could never understand why they would use a slick brand new ball for games or district games.

It was kind of poetic justice that White did not make the NCAA tournament and Anthony Bratton did not make the state tournament. Both left their former teams in a lerch leaving as late as they did.

Thanks, that is what I was saying. Believe me I'm a big supporter of Nebraska high school basketball players but many metro players have had grade issues and some that did qualify did so late. Some coaches will not hold a scholarship unless that player is real special player.

It would also help if a lot of these metro kids would do better in the classroom so there would not be a risk recruiting them.

Possibly. But some teams go into a funk and there is nothing a coach can do.
