Transfer F Rafael Maia (Brown) -> Pitt
Navin R. Johnson replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Hope Coach Miles brings a bunch of pictures with him for the visit! I don't see him signing without taking a trip to see the campus. To bad, looks like he could fill the big man void. -

I remember when the Adidas top 10's came out. I was in high school then and nobody would believe that people would pay $65.00 for a pair of basketball shoes! I think that was the first real "expensive" shoe that started the boom in prices. Man, Converse went from THE shoe to almost out of the market overnight.

Wasn't Big Country Bryant Reeves from a really small town and school? I think the competition in class A in Nebraska is better than the poster above thinks. Nebraska schools seem to hold their own against some of the top prep schools in the nation when they play them and do well against schools in other states.

"Nice to see the public schools fighting back for a change." "Not if you don't get caught." Careful guys. This could open up a nasty debate on both topics!

Sounds like quite a recruiting war going on between South and Prep. Which I think is illegal in high school!

It just floors me on how many parent issues there are now in college sports. You kind of expect some of that in high school but for years it seemed college was a different story. Not now. I have talked to a few of the in state college coaches and they are saying some of the same things as far as "helicopter" parents. -

If you ever played in the Bob or old Coliseum
Navin R. Johnson replied to colhusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I can remember thinking how nice and big the locker room was (we were in the visitor room that the Husker opponents would use) at the Bob and then we were put in the other lockers the next time and thinking how small and crappy they were compared to the main lockers. The floor also felt like it had a lot of bounce to it and it almost felt soft. -
Talk about HS basketball talent in NE
Navin R. Johnson replied to Norm Peterson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Tyler Hagedorn (Norfolk) was just named Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Nebraska. As stated earlier he is headed to USD to play for Coach Smith. -
Wasn't there talk earlier about Shields going off scholarship?

The maxpreps ranking is really nothing to go off. That being said when Nebraska high schools are playing prep school powerhouse programs and beating them or playing them tough down to the wire I think you have to give some credit to Nebraska high school teams. -

Miles did recruit Tyler Hagedorn (Norfolk) for a while but did not offer. I think he went with Jacobsen instead. Smith knew Tyler from that. I would like to see a Nebraska kid in each class as I think the state is under recruited and there are some solid players but it is not that simple with only 13 ships and different needs each year. You still have to go outside the state to find the big time players but there are Nebraska kids that could surround the big timers and help the team. It also creates interest in the program. I think Miles does keep tabs on the local kids and in the future we might see more in the program. -
It must be in the water here. Many boys and girls high school teams are missing some key players with injuries on top of those you listed. Strange year.

I stand corrected! Thanks Cousin.
