Maybe he asked to go in and be as physical as he could and wear guys down for their other bigs, and eat up fouls that would have gone on players their coaches didn't want in foul trouble. And maybe he won't be asked to play just that role for us.

I have actually thought about this too. It would be interesting to see them let Petteway run the PG spot. The lineup of Petteway (6'6"), Fuller (6'7"), Shields (6'7"), Pitchford (6'10"), and Ayegba (6'9", with a 7'4" wingspan) could be nasty defensively and pretty dangerous on the offensive end too. I think that could more of a liability defensively because we would lack speed against opposing guards. Help defense would have to be great without leaving anyone open outside. I see the advantage mostly on the offensive end with our guys being able to rise up over theirs from mid range and for Pitchford (and hopefully Fuller as well) from outside.

Eh, we can dangle the "you could be the first top 150 player in school history" thing still. Some kids wanting to make their own name may find that appealing.

I'm just thinking about the mismatches we could have on offense with putting 2 wings out there instead of a two guard. Not all the time, but 5-8 minutes a game against teams without a great shooting guard, we could go Ayegba/Smith, Pitchford, Shields, Fuller and let Petteway bring the ball up the court. Give up some quickness on defense for sure, but I'd love to watch opposing defenses try to match that lineup of guys 6'6" and up.

I completely understand the newcomers point and wanting a team with a bunch of new guys to have more playing time together. We saw how we started playing better together throughout this past season. I don't understand players being "burnt out" in March because of a trip 1- 2 week trip the previous summer. Say they go next summer, when will they be burned out the following season? Hawaii in December, Australia in the summer, are they burnt out to start the 2015-2016 season?

Haha, so far these are roughly the responses I expected. I do think it's nice to see his bracket every year. May not always see eye to eye with the guy, but it's cool he does this like millions of other Americans.
