  1. Kaylee Jensen of Genoa, NE played an excellent game in Austin tonight against Texas. 15 pts. 10 rebounds against two quality bigs employed by Texas. Oklahoma St. lost 70-55 but this young lady held her own. I believe she played at Lindsay Holy Family.
  2. I certainly hope this team can make the NCAA's. It would be a pleasant and surprising accomplishment considering the injuries this season.
  3. The NU Women's BB program is in excellent hands with Coach Yori! Are we going to compete with Maryland and OSU for the top athletes? Probably not. But NU has a great anchor to build around for the next 3 years. Next class is bringing in the wings and guards necessary to push NU forward. Injuries and defections have cost this team more than any other issue. Connie is going to recruit girls to fit her program and anyone can see that ideally NU plays a fun, uptempo, fan friendly style. Most of the other NU programs need to "catch up" to the success of Women's BB under Coach Yori! She is a bargain.
  4. I believe this is a fairly accurate assessment of the remainder of the season.
  5. Banham will be difficult for any player given the assignment but Carlie Wagner is a player as well. NU will have to outscore Minnesota to win because we won't be able to stop them. Ohio St. looked scary good tonight in whipping Maryland at home. B1G is tough!
  6. NU was probably due for a clunker. IU had a lot of momentum coming off that 17 point come from behind win over Iowa. Buss is a pretty good player.
  7. Melo Trimble is the Hillary Clinton of college basketball. Two sets of rules for him....on both ends of the floor. That may be but the guy is clutch. Those 3's were huge to keep the game tied.
  8. Really pleased with the bench production. Had to be a boost to the morale of the entire squad.
  9. I absolutely for the life of me do not understand those that have this mindset. Do we not loose wearing red uniforms?? Do we not loose wearing white uniforms?? Absolutely- SO LETS BURN THOSE TOO! NEWSFLASH-- kids love this type of thing (alternate uniforms, special occasion shoes, etc)- its for the kids, not for the adults that sit in the stands and cheer. I know for a fact that there is a very highly rated recruit from a few years ago that is now on the team that "requested" an alternate uniform, are you (as a coach or even as a loyal fan) going to tell said recruit, no we dont "do" that? Cazzie22, I'm not picking on you, I am saying this in general as there are lots of people that feel the same way, you just happened to actually say it- sorry if I offended you. No offense taken. I just don't like schools incorporating a color that is not in the school colors. I wish NU VB would not wear black but they do. The black road uni's weren't that bad unlike the awful black football uniforms this past fall.
  10. Lose the black uniforms! It's as bad as the "surrender" whites on road Football games!
  11. Not an unexpected result. NU is really thin relying on starters to play so many minutes. The staff must lack confidence in the play off the bench. Connie sounded concerned and asked for crowd support against PSU.
  12. Had to miss tonight's broadcast. Can Romeo survive playing 40 minutes a night? Didn't look like the bench was used much after checking the box score.
  13. Final Score???
  14. I was incredibly wrong after the loss to Maryland. The future is indeed bright for NU and the present isn't bad. A road win without Theriot is very impressive. I should have never doubted Coach Yori and the ability of her team.
  15. A wonderful article and terrific story!
  16. College BB seems to be totally unpredictable this season. How can OK State blow out KU and get blown up by KSU? Why is MSU step for step with Maryland tonight. Kansas and Oklahoma have been erratic in their performances. Sometimes teams don't show up mentally. It is a long season. I don't want to take anything away from a fine performance by Michigan.
  17. Stuart Lantz, Venson Hamilton, Eric Piatkowski, and Tyron Lue Wait, I cannot leave out Jack Moore!!!
  18. Shooting is largely confidence when you have the fundamentals down. Probably a confidence factor more than anything else. She does play pretty good defense and provides a scrappy attitude for her team.
  19. Nice win over a very physical team. Rutgers plays "city" ball and we don't have many players from Metropolitan areas. It will be a tough rematch in a couple of weeks at their place. I am impressed with how the team is beginning to forge an identity and get some toughness. Several missed bunnies were maddening but the execution to get those shots and the lack of turnovers was huge. Blackburn's follow shot might have been one of the big plays of the game though Romeo's 3's were the momentum changer. I might have been a little to hard on this group in some earlier postings but the team today should make Husker fans proud. Tied with a road men's victory...not a bad day for the Huskers in BB!
  20. Nice win. Good effort, shooting was impressive and the defense wasn't bad.
  21. After watching a replay of the Penn State game on B1G Network, many of our turnovers were the result of trying to force a fast pace. Some high risk passes were rewarded with easy baskets, though we did miss too many cripples around the rim. Playing that pace allows us some easy shots but you have to live with the turnovers. The Defense is questionable at best. PSU was able to drive without fear to the rim and had way too many offensive rebounds. We try to help and recover, but we don't recover like Cady and Sample were able to do last year. Romeo's defense is best when she is able to make some steals after we make baskets. None of the guards can stop dribble penetration though Clark seems to be the best overall. I don't think Esther hurt is in the game at all. She moved the ball and defended as well as anyone else on the floor.
  22. I have total admiration for Coach Yori's willingness to discipline players. There are expectations that must be met and their is a consequence when those expectations are not met. My comments are based on one game seen in perosn (Arkansas St., and what I have witnessed on TV or listened on the radio) 1. Defense, rebounding and turnovers are all issues. 2. We lack the size, strength and quickness of many of our conference foes. (we have height, but not the size and strength) 3. Team has not folded the tent and will compete. 4. If the RT of old returns to form or near form, NU will be competitive. 5. A finish in the middle of the pack would not be a bad achievement. There are no easy wins in the league. Indiana has been a surprise and Michigan St. seems to be an enigma.
  23. In retrospect, Romeo's two big steals were huge in this game.
  24. 2 big free throws for Clark! 2 more big free throws from Clark! Nice road win. Clark was ice down the stretch at the line!
  25. School record 8 threes for Romeo, 9 pt. lead
