Hailee Sample is tough! 10 rebounds and 8 points on a bad ankle. Never underestimate her contributions to this team. NW is tough to beat there and IU may be a problem without Theriot.

I would view criticism and "bashing" as two entirely different levels. T.P. has been a wonderful player for Nebraska and is effort is always to be admired. I hope he comes back for another year (he clearly is not ready to play in the NBA) but would like to have him develop a better handle on dealing with his frustrations.

To be fair Norm, I was more frustrated with how we were playing and probably didn't pay as much attention to the officiating. I agree, the officiating is inconsistent, more so in the Women's game than the Men's. I watched on TV and if you saw the game in person you had a better overall view.

Melissa Dixon's 3's were major daggers!

Laudermill can be great one minute and terrible the next. Always gives great effort so you live with it.

Same problem as the first game. Too many silly, unforced turnovers. Cut the turnovers, NU probably wins the game. Fantastic effort, great will to win. Need to get healthy...fast.
-
I cannot disagree with anything you said. However, I still stand by my belief that last night's outcome was not decided by the officiating. It was our lack of execution and the inability to knock down shots.

You weren't watching the same game I was, apparently. I guess not, maybe I was a little harsh in my post game funk! -

A couple of thoughts about tonight. The officiating did not cost us the game. Miles may becoming too much of a "whiner" about calls. Players other than Shields and T.P. must try to score more often. T.P. was a liability on defense in the first half because he was sulking about his offense, Decker owned him. Effort and execution might result in some wins. -
That might be why we lost the first game this year. We were too worried about Logic and the Freshman slipped behind us.
-
I agree, Shephard might be the first true power player we have had. Griffin was good but only 6'2, she had trouble against the big athletic posts. Watching Texas and Baylor today. Cady and Sample would have a tough time dealing with the size and quickness of those two teams. I hope we can win out and maybe land a home court for the NCAA...win out in the regular season...Maryland is winning the tournament.

Maryland's physical strength overwhelmed NU. Good effort by the Huskers, need a great effort Thursday to beat Iowa.
-
Connie Yori knows what she is doing. It would be difficult to get anyone better at NU. The name of the game is recruiting. I'm not sure we will ever have the talent of Maryland, UConn, Notre Dame, Tennessee, South Carolina, Baylor or Stanford. The big dogs in women's BB are a cut above. If we can build around a healthy Shepard, then we might challenge nationally.
-
Save her for Iowa. Even with her in the lineup, it's very doubtful to beat the Terps. That Iowa game might be the key to saving the season.

Play Fuller and even Hammond some minutes. Might as well start thinking about next season. The schedule, even for the most optimistic on this site, does not allow for much more than a .500 finish. Something is missing, post play obviously, from this year's squad. I don't have the answer. I don't see much post help coming in and I sincerely hope that Watson and Morrow can shoot the damn ball. -
I don't mean to be a "nattering nabob of negativism" but this team isn't beating Wiscy at home and is not going to win any of the remaining road games. With that being said, start giving Fuller and Hammond some minutes to develop. The future is a little blurry because we still will not have a post presence next season. This team is not even NIT bound. A .500 record is in the works. With that being said, I'm not down on the program but some shake ups need to be made.

Why would Kalenta leave? She only has one year left. She should be an important contributor next year. No guarantee that Shephard will be ready at the start of next season and we don't know how Washington has developed as a redshirt.
-
Very proud of the Husker effort tonight. Laudermill was maddening on some of her shot selections but she probably kept us in the game. Great experience for Romeo, Cincore and Smith tonight. Sample really battled on the boards and kept plays alive. She and Cady have a burning desire to win. Maryland will be too tough but we have to believe with Theriot back the Huskers will play well down the stretch.
-
I would hope that Theriot could be rested a little in these games. She has to be wearing down and I believe she tends to be a liability on defense. Am I completely off base? We are going to have trouble handling Goree (sp?) against Michigan...big game to win as the East Coast trip is going to be very hazardous.

Last year's team won games late because of defense, and that defense created some turnovers and transition offense. We are playing good defense but don't seem to be generating enough transition opportunities. You have to play in a manner that gives a team the best opportunity to win. NU is offensively challenged and has to play great defense to win games.
