  1. I grew up in a small community and our newish home did not have an air conditioner until I was a sophomore in high school. Then, we had a simple window air conditioner until I left for college. I moved into Abel Hall and it was air conditioned, I thought I was in heaven... Now, I struggle if the temperature isn't below 70. Sad. Here is how we survived back then. The house was closed up until the sun went down. Then, windows were opened and fans were put on. If we tried that today, can you imagine the break-in's and thefts. During the day we were always outside. We had ways to find cool breezes on even the hottest days. We also drank lots of water by way of water hoses. I guess most of us didn't know any better and it sure the hell was better than winter blizzards and snow drifts. By the way, what did anybody do to survive without air conditioning or heat in the winter? I remember my dad would always point out those people who probably had it much worse than I did. At least I could always run a little bath water and cool down, or run through a sprinkler.
  2. 1st thing to check...batteries in thermostat.
  3. A healthy Copeland.
  4. I am guessing that the power is within the Board of Regents.
  5. Nice article... https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2023/08/539f8c7ce102-basketball-tominaga-follows-in-fathers-footsteps-at-world-cup.html
  6. A lot of Florida students would like to see us contact Dr. Sasse.
  7. Rather shocking to say the least.
  8. Hmm, I'm not seeing a forecast yet on this kid, let alone a commitment. It sure seems like visits will indeed take place.
  9. We are witnessing the birth of a bona fide star who could potentially generate major buzz at the FIBA World Cup 2023 for the co-hosts. "What he’s really improved upon is his off-ball movement. He’s really gotten better at that. He really looks like Curry and the Nebraska coaches helped him with that, too.” Man, it is nice to hear this.
  10. I am making arguments out of frustration HUD. The WNBA has been around for 27 seasons. They have had a stage for some tremendous players. But yet, for basketball fans, sports fans in general and fans of specific players, it barely averages 5,000 a contest. Heck, take Seattle out of the equation and it would reduce that number even more. Why??? I guess my point, if there is a point to be made, is that Clark may derive much greater benefit sitting in Iowa City and playing out her elibility. That of course would include a hefty insurance package in case of injury. Heck, Iowa City and Des Moines are insurance capitals, so there probably is a NIL deal somewhere in her package.
  11. WNBA salaries The average salary among 151 WNBA athletes was $102,751 in 2022, NBC Sports reported. And this season, the minimum is set at $62,285 while the league's top-paid players are earning the maximum of $234,936, according to Spotrac.May 19, 2023
  12. According to On3, Caitlin Clark's NIL deals are worth approximately $739,000.Apr 10, 2023
  13. I would throw an argument at you though...is the WNBA a bigger stage then she has right now? There may be more jingle in her pocket; but I am not convinced more people will watch/follow her than what she has right now.
  14. Pretty darn good performance given they were missing three really good players.

  16. We certainly have depth, and as one can see above, we seem ro have a number of players who could start for our team; but the real question that needs to be asked and answered has not neen addressed. WHO ON OUR ROSTER WOULD START AND BE A TOP PLAYER FOR THE TOP TIER BIG TEN TEAMS? I am not saying we don't have some of those players; but those other top tier programs always reload with top of the line players.
  17. Yo-yo. Talented; but the desire is awol. I wish him well in the real world.
  18. Playing tonight at the Pinewood Bowl along with Ziggy Marley. Looking forward to a fantastic concert!!!
  19. Good for Fred...any salary disclosures that surprises you? https://huskerextra.com/news/basketball/mens-basketball/nebraska-basketball-fred-hoiberg-salary-restored/article_a6c0918c-3645-11ee-85af-938993cc1322.html?utm_source=huskerextra.com&utm_campaign=%2Fnewsletter-templates%2Fnews-alert&utm_medium=PostUp&lctg=1261827&tn_email_eh1=d09b424543be8222e4a241a7937d248958c11014
  20. Wasn't that last year? He had changed his eating habits and so forth. Perhaps he has continued to do the right things and will truly elevate his game this season.
  21. Here is my hope. No starting position is locked down yet. Simple message to each player...playing time will be earned. Your ass will be sitting on the bench if you don't put the team first. Shoot when you have a good look, make the pass when a teammate has a better look. Rebounding will be rewarded; as will effort/hustle, defense and high character. If we don't have extreme competition for the 200 minutes of playing time per game, then we don't have the depth and skills necessary to take us to the next level.
  22. Yuck. That was embarrassingly ugly. Yes, more than a bit critical. I am unsure who picked this team to play or how they sold them as a viable team; but that stunk. We could have played nearly any class A or B team in the State of Nebraaka, and it would have been more competitive. Okay, that said; I hope this trip was awesome for the ladies and helps build the foundation for a successful season.
  23. Great job. Good for baseball in the city of Lincoln as well.
