Norm's Conference Recognition Watch List
Huskerpapa replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Our team relied on the group as a whole, rather than individual talent. Sure there are counter-arguements to that theory; but I will take it as a medal for team first play. The sum was greater than the parts. -
JUST to clarify...I am referencing the latter rather than the former The term bust a nut implies that something explosive is going on with one's testicles—metaphorically, we hope. Originally, to bust a nut meant “to ejaculate” but also”to work hard,” perhaps a variation of a similar expression bust your conk, meaning “to work hard at a task."

I'm more inclined to say why, then wow!!!

Looking into it a bit, I see the salary they should get is in the 40 to 50,000 range, plus they can pursue further degrees. I would also guess they have the benefit of the training table, medical treatment and perhaps even NIL type benefits.

I'm glad that Coach Hoiberg latched onto these fine young men as coaches. Both will bring positive, team first mojo to the table. I am a bit surprised about Josiah. In my mind, he is definitely a great addition. But I thought he would go to Europe for a few years, make some good coin, and see the world. But hey, their loss is our gain.

Tell me the players who will always bust a nut. Tell me the players who are the best teammates. Tell me the players who will play within the system most effectively. Tell me who the leaders will be, et al. Hard to see who will rise to the top. But it should be fun to watch!

The best decision he has ever made. As an aside, his dad never left the high school ranks despite many offers to move to a college gig. He was one of the best high school coaches of all time; but sort of a Bobby Knight type.

Hope so...

Back in time...welcome to all the newbies

Actually...Peaches James (softball) has the women's vertical jump record at 31 inches. For basketball Nicea Eliely holds the record at 24.5 inches. Now, the source of this information is from Nebraska Power, and I'm uncertain on when it was last updated.

He has one hell've a lineage. Mother, aunt, grandfather, et al.

No longer a NBA fan, but I will watch some of the action.

A bit of a risky move. Then again, it is Keisei.

Their #1 recruit. If there is a silver lining, his departure brings them to their scholarship limit.

Just a simple observation. Yes, some players simply can't or won't play defense. But there is also a possibility that a player is not being coached properly, or his coaches and fellow players don't motivate a player to defend. Many will say Keisei did not defend well. Where was Keisei located for long periods of time in certain games last year? His ass was planted on the bench. That said, more often than not, he was on the court working hard and appeared to really try being a pest. So I personally will not yet look at any of the history's of our players in other programs. Instead, I will wait to see how the players react to the defensive philosophies and techniques that our coaching staff teaches. Perhaps we will like the results we will see.

You want length? How about this as a lineup: PG - Williams SG - Griffiths Wing - Juwan PF - Berke C - Meah
-
I think he has the potential, yes. I also think he would be worth the risk. Much depends on his willingness to sit and develop for a year? That said, his sister is a pretty gifted softball player
-
It is very hard to choose a lineup or even a rotation until I see the team and how they develop throughout the off-season. Then you have chemistry and leadership roles that play into the equation. We have two players that we all can agree as likely starters. They are Juwan and Brice. With the remaining roster, there is a ton of potential. How hard will the individuals work to turn potential to production? I am amped because recent history tells us that the current staff seems to understand when and how to push the right buttons. Heck, Uhlis has been tutored by this staff for a year now, and has his reputation to gain back. One would think that he should be exponentially better than what we saw of him at Iowa. I can clearly imagine that Sam's shot has improved. Tied to his hustle and big play ability, he should also be in the mix for rotational minutes...and on and on.

We have one open scholarship.
-
Seemingly, another advantage he has for playing time is his size. He appears to have good strength for an incoming freshman that goes well with his basketball IQ and skills. The only thing that may hold him back is the talent/experience ahead of him.

Although much less likely now, let's not completely shut our minds to Trevon Brazile.
