  1. By the way, a few comments outside the lines, so to speak: * Surprising good crowd. Both numbers and volume. Good to see. * The floor was a factor on a few occasions. Not sure why players were struggling with traction, but quite a few slip and falls. * Our dance squad is top notch. I apologize for the following; but our cheer squad is, uhhh, pathetic. Get rid of all the men and rethink what the team and fans want. Good lord, they are bad. Sorry. * Pogo twosome was unique.
  2. Disjointed effort on both ends of the court. Much to like a few obvious issues. Really looks like a team trying to connect with each other. Offense was alot of one on one,; but we were more physically able to excel with that strategy tonight. Overall, pretty happy with a 20 point win.
  3. First game. Going to be a bit rough around the edges. I would be much more concerned if we didn't have a number of minor issues. We should have blown Omaha off the floor, and we did! Great job ladies!
  4. Thank goodness basketball season starts tomorrow. No additional explanation required!
  5. Interesting...and yes, you can find basketball players... https://share.newsbreak.com/9m0430v1

  8. Before I worry too much about our bigs, I would turn to a couple of guards/wings that were problematic. They have to check their men instead of running by them. I won't call anyone out yet as this was an exhibition, but if you watch next week, let's see of that issue is resolved and if that fixes the issue.

  10. I think Berke is a lot like me. You buzz your hair and as a result your body appears bloated a bit.
  11. A lot to like tonight. Business handled.
  12. A lot to like, and yes, a few concerns. I really like Rollie running the point. He looks sooo natural. Still concerned with his perimeter shot. Brice and Juwan looked good. You can tell those two, along with Rollie are leaders. Meah is limited, yet what he does, he does well. We do not look like a quick team. We occupy space and look comfortable playing physical. I think the following is a good thing...our parts are interchangeable. If our players remain selfless, we can be good.
  13. Grew up with Wilson balls, glad they are back. Team chemistry still not there. Also, we are built for the Big Ten...we seem fast but not overly quick. Will quick teams cause us issues? Rollie is doing great!
  14. Yep. Smith is not as good without Eddy. He had zero assists with about 4 minutes left in the first half.
  15. Man, it makes me thankful that most of my friends and family made it through routine procedures. I have lost two acquaintances while they went through common heart procedures. So you never take it for granted.
  16. Collision in practice, concussion. Will miss practice game on Sunday, and then day to day.
  17. I believe Rich King was on the Seattle roster as well.
  18. There isn't an allegiance to the basketball program; but there are pockets of pro Nebraska with the coaches and players. Where you say 0%, I would suggest there are those that still bleed Nebraska red. Then of course there is football and baseball and many Olympic type sports that are solid husker red.
  19. My concern is that (1) Juwan will fall in love with his perimeter game and lose site with what makes him significant player for us (2) Meah is so limited offensively that it has a negative effect on the team flow (3) Berke is a black hole and that he will have problems sharing. Also, is he tough enough to survive in the league (4) Sam's defense and hustle languishes on the bench (5) Morgan doesn't get enough minutes (6) Brice has to carry too much of the scoring burden (7) Rutgers and Wisky lose time due to defensive inefficiencies. Other than those...
  20. Since he's been away from the game for a year, I join you in wondering what to expect. Recalling his days at Iowa are hazy; but he seemed to be a good defender. Iowa played good team ball and his role seemed to be to penetrate and kick to shooters. His perimeter game was average to mediocre. I'm hoping that in his year with Fred, his perimeter game has improved; but we shall see. Will he be a Boogie Coleman clone???
  21. Sort of surprising in my mind
  22. Note...this was an exhibition.
  23. I put little to any thought into an exhibition win or loss. No clue as to who played, where they played, substitution pattern, plays ran, et al.
  24. The NCAA was put in place to protect the student athlete. This occurred in the very early 1900's. The organization lost its way when money materialized. The governing body found that said money could enhance the universities that governed the organization. They concurrently lost focus on the very reason they formed; the student athlete. Change is hard. It is especially hard when those that must change, are financially damaged by the necessary changes. The schools are placed in position to share the windfall that they once monopolized. Here is the kicker...college athletics is a tripartite relationship. The universities and players are eventually compensated by the fanatics (fans). If what occurs creates too much financial and emotional stress on the fans, the entire group may fail. So long story short, it is time to reorganize the NCAA. What will the future hold?
