So we got a couple of "homer" calls for a change. Finally "Nemesis",the goddess who is supposed to even luck out, did her job for a change. When the second-leading scorer in the league draws contact, falls, and shoots an airball on the game's final play, something has to be called. As Andy Katz pointed out on the BTN follow up show in response to Robby, the Purdue guy, who gave the pat reasoning that referees are supposed to " let the players decide the game", the ref was standing 2 feet away when he made the call. No one else, including the cameraman, was closer. If calls must not be made during the last minute of close games, then the referees should be allowed to leave early and start their showers. I don't blame Pitino, but , hey, you know what they say about Karma.

HHCC Game #26 - vs. Northwestern (Feb. 16, 7:30 PM CST)

NU 61, Northwestern 59. We made Pardon a star so he owes us a dud game. -
Sort of looks like the poster boy for "white privilege" if you ask me.
-
Just Pleeze no white court or fancy stuff. TCU's court last night looked like a tabletop hockey game my kids once got for Christmas. An interesting sidelight: Jimmy once had tickets to sit courtside at the old Garden about where Ainge is sitting in the above photo. Celtics beat the Rick Pitino Knicks that night even though Bird didn't play. We even slipped a quarter into one of the cracks between the parquet after the game.

Nebraska Fans-the best in the country!?

Funny, my cookie said "Best played for Nebraska 1992-94". -
After briefly perusing the above list of coaches to watch, I fail to see any "wow" factor here that would make me excited about a hire unless one would come with an elite, 6'11 center attached. In other words, I would rather go with Miles and the recruits he already has than randomly hiring any of these guys because of their potential ability to build a team at this level. Moos had better have an established name ready to take over or it won't work, and that doesn't include assistants at Illinois or head coaches at South Dakota State. How about Danny Manning, anyone?

Probably better to let the founding father of the site start a thread when he feels the urge.

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 11; ed 24 - @ Purdue
jimmykc replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Seemed like almost every shot we took in the second half was taken with less than 10 seconds left in the shot clock. -
Maybe he was thinking of Andre Almeida, or Andre Smith or Andre the Giant?

Had to use my first "sad" emoji on your post, Dave. Probably the title of the thread will stand, but other than the JUCO mistake, which you can edit out, I pretty much reluctantly agree with your thoughts. However, I will enjoy the month more by choosing to believe that we still manage to scrape together a run of "W's either in the remaining season or the tourney to liven things up. Here's hoping you get to witness one of those "W" s when you visit.

One of my favorite movies, Cip. Now got to go fire up the old tape machine. -
I doubt it. He has a pretty sweet setup in Lawrence.

Nebraska High School Basketball (18-19)

Everybody was at Conlees. -
My inside source says Vick's family and personal problems make it unlikely he will return. With Azubuiki and DeSousa gone already and the "investigation" still hanging like the Mueller probe, NU is not the only team which is suffering from dwindling expectations. Misery loves company (or maybe that's Missouri).

As I understood it, he was leaving and the ushers made him come back and sit down until the end of the game.

Nebraska Fans-the best in the country!?

Somewhere up in the tundra 80,000 lemmings give the thumbs up sign. -
I guess this rules out Rick Pitino too.

Does the present Bachelor count? That might work.

I think the team was a victim of listening to too much unaccustomed hype from fans and media. Suddenly the expectations began to cause mental pressure to "measure up". Losing to Mich State sort of broke the mental bubble and then losing one of our senior stalwarts caused panic to set in. Paradoxically, now that "rock bottom" has been reached and we have nothing to lose, I expect us to relax, enjoy playing the underdog again, and actually pick up some more victories before the season ends.

Nebraska Fans-the best in the country!?

Surprisingly, I didn't get as many down votes as anticipated. And I learned it was actually Pederson's idea to put the "best fan" label on us. To hijack my own thread just a bit on this freezing morning, what fan base truly deserves to be called "arrogant"? KU basketball must be close, although I'll vote for Duke. And , let's face it" , the new breed of all Boston fans are getting there with the exception of really old baseball fans like myself who have years of listening to Yankee fans to purge. Soccer fandom seems different from my disinterested viewpoint. They just appear deranged to me. -

huskerbaseball: Glad you only have one vote. And speaking of baseball, the Red Sox truck left for Florida earlier this week!?
