I'm not pointing fingers since I didn't see or hear most of the game, but am curious as to which players missed the crucial free throws for us down the stretch. I had hoped free throws might be a strength on this year's team and wonder who might be on the "free throw" team in a similar situation later this year when the other team decides to foul in order to get the ball back when behind.

Veterans day confession: I don't stand for either of them when I am watching in my living room-my knees ache too much as it is. However, I have no problem with those who stand at the games they attend. Does everyone still remain standing until we score our first basket like we used to do at the BDSC? I seem to remember a few games when it took an interminable amount of time before we sat down.

And speaking of Teddy... New Mexico State turns back UC Irvine 62-51 in opener (msn.com) By the way, I was at the Pan American center for the very first game that was played there.... Teddy Allen's five-year, five-school path has him primed for success at New Mexico State (yahoo.com)

I think last night's results may have solidified this perception.

At least Teddy was fun to watch because he had a myriad of ways to finish his one-on-one plays.

Great night to not have a radio since the Big Ten Network barely mentioned the game (probably a good decision) and I checked out of HHC early. Bright note: Starting out at rock bottom means there is no place to go but up. That's all I got.

Is standing for the second anthem mandatory or optional? If a guest soloist or group sings the Star Spangled Banner, will they be expected to also sing the new one which will follow? How about rotating the second song between the countries of players on the team like Japan, Lithuania, Canada, etc.? How long has "Lift Every Voice" been around and are royalties necessary if it is sung at every game? Just random questions since I no longer attend the games in person.

KenPom has now checked in so perhaps we should just limit the contest to the present number since it is 69. (And with this post, we just moved to 70-nice thinking, Jimmy).

Sort of reminds me of the old Nebraska basketball booster meetings in Moe's day which were held upstairs at Sweep Left and closed with an auction featuring a stripper. I'm not sure Fred would have approved of the concept.

MSU begins the season against KU on ESPN tonight. Might be a (very early) measure of how the Big Ten is perceived this year by the national media. Starts at 6 to set the stage for the more compelling matchup of NU vs Western Illinois.

I still have one of Danny's signature ties from Gary Michaels. Nice to hear his voice again and find out he is still as full of BS as back in the day. Anyway, I have always thought his life would make an interesting autobiography having played with Lew Alcindor, and for Al McGuire, being wounded in Viet Nam, not to mention all the drama which went on while he was at NU. Hopefully someone can make the reunion that he and Badgett were talking about happen.

We met her once at Arby's on 48th street when we noted she and Jack were eating there while they were in college. They were young, obviously in love, and very gracious to the strangers interrupting their meal. That is the way I will always remember them. RIP
