  1. Bizarroworld flash: think KU. At least I got to see my alma mater go to the Orange Bowl. But , come to think of it, I also got to see NU win the NIT.
  2. I like it, but might shorten it further to "Heems".
  3. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how Mr. Breidenbach likes to be addressed? Wil, Willie, Vilhelm, Brides? Wilhelm seems a bit cumbersome for everyday use.
  4. Just reviewed our MBB roster and am pretty safe in saying that we have never been so rife with players who may be available four years from now. If Fred were a squirrel, he would already have a huge cache of the best acorns stashed somewhere.
  5. ConkintheCorner: Can you provide a few lottery numbers for use tomorrow?
  6. Philosophy postscript: HBO miniseries: "The Alberts Files".
  7. It's all in how the reader interprets a comment. If Verge is, indeed, our best player then it might indicate the rest of the squad has been over-hyped.
  8. You are so right. I would quit going and you could have my tickets if I had to get them with my E-Bay. Unfortunately I already did this when NU went to the Pinnacle.
  9. We are now on the verge of basketball success.
  10. Best Red Zone sign ever-"Wayman win us a Wunza".
  11. Since this thread has been somewhat sidetracked, allowing a brief sojourn into nostalgia, I shall contribute a few stream of consciousness thoughts. I remember when Bill Jackman was one of Coach K.'s prized recruits. I think he might have even made a trip to Nebraska to see him play in high school. I remember seeing Oscar Robertson, Gary Williams and Jumping Joe Caldwell play at Allen Fieldhouse as undergrads. I remember seeing Michael Jordan play for the Bulls at BDSC. I remember seeing Connie Hawkins dunk for the Suns in Phoenix. I remember seeing George Gervin and Dr. J battle each other in the ABA in San Antonio. I remember seeing Nate Archibald play as an undergraduate in El Paso. I remember seeing Kevin McHale play at BDSC for the Gophers and later from courtside seats on the parquet at the old Boston Garden. Ah, the wonders I've seen. Hopefully I'll be able to see the McGowens brothers lead NU to the promised land.
  12. Has a high school recruit ever said anything negative about an official visit? Just wondering. It would be refreshing if someone would someday say something like the "the staff were smarmy and the team returning for next year seemed like a bunch of egotistical jerks."
  13. At least he is out of the flux now.
  14. OK, forget the gold watch.
  15. Now this makes sense to me. At least he doesn't have a health problem and NU isn't stuck with a "lame duck" AD. They should give him a gold watch though.
  16. Xavier had to practice in the old Pius gym in 1988. Perhaps that helped form their opinion of Lincoln.
  17. I know nothing about the previous hiring process. However, I do know that a great deal seems to have changed in the last four years in the way business, academia, and ,yes, athletics have politicized almost every decision to be made. Now, to get back to basketball. How about making Doc. Sadler the new AD? That would be ok with me.
  18. Thanks, Norm. To make this even less complicated, I will restate my original comment. It simply meant that I wanted the new AD to be someone capable of managing the athletic department in a competent manner which will allow NU to excel in all athletic and academic endeavors. I do not care about that individual's sexual orientation, race, color, political views, religion, or personality as long as he or she can do the job. I simply think using any of these criteria to choose the candidate, as well as his or her degree of "woke-ness" (whatever that is), should be irrelevant. Capiche?
  19. Seems to me that the future AD will pretty much have a situation teed up for success. We can only hope that he or she will be evaluated solely on competence and that all other irrelevant considerations such as "wokeness",race, sexual orientation or ethnicity will play no role in the choice.
  20. Shall we raise a glass to Bill, or am I too early?
  21. Any chance we could get Steve Pederson to return? After all, he never quite accomplished his mission here and he does have a boomerang type of resume.

  23. I remembered LSU losing to UConn by a lot, and that Duke won the round in Minneapolis because they stayed at the same hotel we did and I rode the elevator with Coach K. I had forgotten the other teams because we scalped our tickets after the late Saturday disappointment and drove back to Lincoln on Saturday. I also remember Duke beating KU in the finale in 1991.
  24. Just wondering: Were stars given to prospects when Shaquille O'Neal played for LSU? He didn't exactly open the floodgates for the Tigers either. Or maybe he wouldn't have rated 5 stars back then? I saw him play in the fateful NCAA in Minneapolis when Xavier ruined Danny Nee's legacy and wasn't impressed. (And they had two starters over 7 ft. then).
  25. I approve of this game.
