  1. Can anyone tell me what former Cornhusker played for Mt.Vernon?
  2. And the purchase of those 'Staches for Senor night had to be justified to the legislature.
  3. Let's cut to the chase. The better players will be the ones who get the most minutes.
  4. I agree, Dave, Dylan has suddenly become an iron man. Almost makes you wonder if Diaz would now be logging 35 minutes if he had stayed here.
  5. I might give Miles an A minus for not giving Almeida a few minutes unless he was still hurt. It might have rested Ubel a bit more for the end of the game effort- might have even finished off that dunk.
  6. Just got around to the thread. Nice effort, another L, Meh. Maybe the thread should have featured Albert Camus instead of Billy Joel.
  7. Navin: I can sense at least half dozen posters smearing on the lipstick at this moment.
  8. I'll try to be there with one son and one grandson but we will have to leave fairly early to deal with scalpers or get general admission seats if we can't find three together.
  9. So we riled up the Gov. showing Andre no love With our juvenile trys at lame humor. I still like the big guy, let's buy him a moon pie. Hope his knee ache is only a rumor. A side note The first time I heard this song was when Lightfoot said it was a new one he had just written during a live performance at Pershing arena in Lincoln.
  10. At least it showed the guys haven't forgotten how to run the old windshield wiper offense.
  11. I'm glad the Hawks pulled it out, but I agree with all of the above. Even Frashilla , who is not supposed to comment on refs as an ESPN analyst, had to say that the Big 12 office should review this crew's performance. But Johnson was unbelievable last night .
  12. tcp: Ladyhusker says she has a big stick. Does that count?
  13. Hey, if it brings in money and ain't illegal then it must be ok. The same logic can be applied in Colorado and other states which have passed laws for legalizing pot to allow its use at college basketball venues. That doesn't make it right. My one experience in Omaha was when NU played Oregon up there and a drunken and rowdy Oregon fan had to be escorted out be several security officers. This impressed my grandson more than the (rather exciting) game.
  14. I think it is a terrible idea for college sports where grandchildren often accompany adults at a university which already has a binge drinking problem. Let's face it, we all become a bit more rowdy (obnoxious) after a few beers and it can lead to unpleasantness in a hurry. Does anyone really think sitting in the bleachers at a Royals game or attending a pregame tailgate next to boozy adults sets a good example for grade schoolers? I'm not a prude but I would opt to let folks who want to imbibe do it at sports bars before or after the game and keep the venue free of the overpriced stuff while the game is in progress. If one really must have a drink to enjoy the game, then he or she might have a bigger problem than who wins.
  15. Let's hear a cogent, incisive post from some newbie kiwi and make Cip send some jerky to New Zealand.
  16. Hopefully by a polite smattering of applause accompanied by a few good natured boos. Maybe an HHC insider could hold up a Notre Dame logo. Then he should be treated like any other visiting player. He seems like a nice kid and will have family there. Raining down boos and trying to get into his freshman head would seem a bit much as far as I am concerned. Remember, if he were a Husker then Doc would still be the coach and I think we are probably in a better place for the future as things turned out.
  17. I guess we'll have to settle for Kent and Matt word pictures on this one. I just might decide to wait those 22 years.
  18. 49r:We stayed in the same hotel with Duke in Minneapolis and were looking forward to seeing us play that never-to-be game. Our plans were dashed and we were stuck for the rest of the weekend there. We tried to switch our interest to Duke, but it just never worked. I did get a new best friend since I rode the elevator with Billy McCaffery a few times and wished him (faux) good luck. And my daughter got to dance with the Blue Devil mascot at a pep rally. The only autograph I got on that visit turned out to be Alan Ogg, who played for some visiting pro team that also checked into the hotel before playing the Timberwolves. I should have tried for Coach K., but he scared me.
  19. Seniors get to shoot more, unless he wears his elbow out this year.
  20. Nice photos, Bugeater, but IN RUSSIA WE WOULD BE ENJOYING THE PATIO.
  21. Better to be safe than sorry. At least this way maybe a few extra kids will get to see the game live. And also Norm won't even have to tape American Idol.
  22. Too many variables to even make a rational choice, but ,what the heck, have to pass some time while awaiting a snowflake to fall so I picked option 2. I figure the arena will amp up the crowd next year and by the second year we should actually feel that we can compete with every team on the schedule, at least on our home floor.
  23. I read in the Hail Varsity magazine that his 5 year old son Avery had a bone marrow transplant for leukemia in Omaha on Feb 15. Just another of those many stories that put sports in perspective. Prayers to Chris and his family.
