Nebraska (10-12) vs. Iowa (13-10) Game Thread
Blackshirt83 replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
we're the better team if we manage fouls. -
I generally don't get hyped on walkons but this kid as a junior in hs made passes noone on our roster right now would even think of trying to make. The biggest issue I've had with our offense the past few seasons is the difficulty we have passing into the paint from the wing and the elbow. If this kid can be even servicable in the rest of his game he will be worth having on the floor.

Nebraska (9-10) vs. NorthWestern (16-4) Game Thread
Blackshirt83 replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
No it was blocked. BUT if you don't say it was blocked it has to be a foul with that much contact. It absolutey can't be neither a block nor foul with Northwestern getting the ball. That was pathetic. -

Still alive but we HAVE to lock down on D. -

They help but for some reason lately when he's in our D dies even though most times he is is not directly resposible for the breakdown. -

Big credit to the staff on that run too. Putting faith in McVeigh again while down 10 took guts and I did not think that 1-3-1 would work at all against this team. It did. -

Nebraska (7-6) vs. Maryland (13-1) Game Thread
Blackshirt83 replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I am so confused right now. My mind is unable to process. -
Depends more on how deep the individual talent pool is this year. Tim Frasier made the first team a few years ago despite Penn State being the worst team in the league mostly due to competition for the spot being soft.

7.44 left in the 2nd. Watson just gets his first bucket and yet we've controlled the game. Not ideal but strangely encouraging.. -
AW-III IS BACK FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON (SOMEWHERE)
Blackshirt83 replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Drew needs to be more efficient in transition... And coming off of the secondary break. Other than that, I wouldn't anticipate AW-III handling the rock a ton with the excellent guard play that NU returns (along with ball-handling newcomers). Yep, when they are talking about his ball handling I doubt they want him bringing the ball up or initiating the offense from the top of the circle. I think it's more when the three isn't there they want to see things like him be able to get to the short corner and make a move inside for a layup more often than he did last year. -
So, next year's starting lineup.
Blackshirt83 replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Watson Gill White Morrow Jacobsen early Jordy late I am sticking with my thought since his fresman year... Webster will be the BEST player on the team as a senior. I still want him coming off the bench though, plaing starters minutes betweeen pg/sg and as the #1 scoring option for the 2nd unit. -
AW-III IS BACK FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON (SOMEWHERE)
Blackshirt83 replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
That's very apparent...any team tells him they're picking him and he's gone. The question is whether or not he's going to do so without a guarantee of being picked. Terran left without a guaranty of getting picked, and he didn't get picked. He took a risk, and things still turned out well for him. The question is whether Andrew is willing to take a similar risk. Looks to me like the answer to such a question is, "Yes." IMO if Terran didn't have the tragic passing of his mother happen to him he would have stayed last year. He wanted his mother to have seen his last college game and have the peace of mind that he was going to have a pro contract. -
Not too shabby.

National Basketball League of America formed

A new basketball league here sounds cool... but a rhino themed franchise in Nebraska? They serious with that? -
Ranking Our probable Starting Lineup for Next Year
Blackshirt83 replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Kind of difficult to tell until we see who leaves early around the league. Do Koenig, Schowalter or Happ leave early for some reason? Do Trimble and Stone not go pro for some reason? What does Corey Sanders do? Etc. -
Nebraska (16-17) Vs. Maryland (24-7) Game Thread
Blackshirt83 replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Considering how they shot, we got a chance here. Gotta play for single digits at the 7 min mark and go from there. Maybe their entire team being hot at the same time means they will all go cold at the same time too. Gotta stay in striking distance and capitalize when they do. -

Purdue (22-7) Vs. Nebraska (14-15) Game Thread
Blackshirt83 replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Actually the reason we got back into it was because Hass, Swanigan, and Hammonds had 2 fouls each. We were able to get inside, and guard them. Why would we go to a 2-3 zone without those guys in there? It would be stupid. In order to press you have to make shots, and we look like we never shot the ball before. We are in a shooting funk. It started when White injured his shoulder. Going back to man in the final 2 minutes of the half when they had trouble wasn't thr issue. Not going back to it in the 2nd half is. We didn't miss everything, and even when we missed they weren't exactly running a quick set offense. There were plenty of chances to press.. it clearly was never in the gameplan at all. -

Whoever had the scout for this game blew it big. Purdue struggles against press - we do none Purdue struggles a lot against 2-3 zone - we use none (again) Purdue gets to 30 pts so we switch to 3-2 zone - we crawl all the way back to sinle digits... then go back to man and never go zone again for some reason. -

I absolutely hate how we play Purdue. There is a blueprint for how teams like us should defend these guys with the 2-3 zone and our staff for some reason don't use it.
