Tonight is the first time I really see us missing Shavon. But yea kind of a scary time of this game. Strangely opposite for me. We needed 6-7 good minutes of Shavon time against Wisconsin and Maryland.. tonight we just needed White to not be awful from the field.

The height thing isn't as drastic I don't think Wisconsin's size was the real factor against MSU. Infact MSU was arguably the more agressive team in that game. The thing about Sparty is that they seem to be really struggling adjusting to the way games are called this year and they make lots of dumb fouls away from the rim. Most notably, they handcheck - alot. And when they run onto an officiating crew that calls them out on that stuff they struggle a bit. That said, I don't expect to get too many of those calls.

If we had beaten either Cinci or Miami I may have taken the 18. Without either of those in the W column I don't think 18 wins and .500 in conference makes the tournament. Pass. We are gonna be kicking ourselves late in the year for not closing one of those two out.

Imo the most important key for us is that we attack their zone well. They are better in man usually but are going to want to play lots of zone against us to keep both 'bigs' underneath (they don't want their forwards defending the perimeter). We need to drive well and force them to abandon the zone and then whoever is playing the 4 when Nova is in man (Shields/McVeigh) needs to be able to hit from range enough to draw Jenkins out and make Ochefu defend the paint more one on one and open up rotation behind the slashing lanes where we can use our length to create shots. They are going to likely get in the low 80's even with us doing well on Defense - It comes down to wether we can do the same. That means frustrating their defense and forcing them to defend outside in. We can do it but it won't be very easy.. and it still may not be enough if they are hot deep.

Is Evelyn redshirting this year?

If Tai can play with this level of awareness and confidence against teams that actually have a pulse we may have something very good here this year. Morrow and White are legit. That said, to be where we really want to be, Shavon will need to get back to being that consistent 3pt shooter we know he can be.

DeMarlo Slocom for west coast recruiting will probably be a hot name. Jim Corrigan would be one I'd like to see us try to hire. He's kind of a combo of Harriman's recruiting and Smith's x's and o's and would be at least an interesting fit Imo.

Sounds like the ncaa is doing away with the automatic 5th year transfer rule starting next season. FWIW.
