I understand what you're saying, but I have to say that, in some ways, this team reminds me of the '91 Huskers. Picked to finish last but they have the tools to go out and beat people. The '91 team: Was picked to finish last in the league. Relied on a number of players who had redshirted the previous season. Beat Michigan State. Had a diminutive PG coming off the bench who gave them a spark. They had players who could beat their opponent's players one-on-one. And they had solid role-players surrounding them. This team isn't going to get a #3 seed. It isn't going to produce a 26-8 record. But this team can beat people. We are flat out better than Penn State, Northwestern and Purdue. We can go toe-to-toe with Illinois and Indiana on the road and maybe sneak another road win. I'm calling it right now: I think we will make the dance and I think we'll win a game when we get there. The monkey comes off the back in 2014. You read it here first. Can you imagine Rich King & Clifford Scales on this years club? Senior point guard and a 7'2" Center? I think you're right though Norm, this is the year the Monkey goes away...

Minnesota isn't a more of a threat to us because they're in the same conference. They're just another bubble team competing for an at large bid. In fact, I'd prefer Minny win 10+ conference games, giving us another win over a potential top 25 RPI team. Good point, but an NIT bid for the Gophers gives me a year of "Smack Talk" here in the Twin Cities.

We need to beat the Drunken Cheeseheads. Not only to ramp up our resume' and improve our B1G seeding, but running the table on a 9 game winning streak will pop the bubble once and for all. Illini and IU games will be tricky, but they should call us butter cuz "We're on a roll"!

All the boobs here in Mpls. have the Gophers as a lock for the Dance with an 8-10 Conference record. Could we finish 10-8 and be snubbed for a Gopher team we beat? I can't believe that would happen.

I have never understood this logic. Just because a conference is good doesn't mean a certain number of teams are going to get in even if there are not qualified teams. You're right. We could have a better conference record than Minnesota and they could get picked over us. You would want to root against Minnesota because they are a bubble team and the more bubble teams that falter means more open spots for us. Yes. Conference standings and our final position have little to do with making the tournament. Was it 1998 where we finished 4th in the Big 12 standings and got skipped over and the 2 teams below us got in? An Oklahoma team with Eduardo Najara', that we BEAT in Norman was taken instead of us, even though we had the same Conference record. Still chaps my a**

Doc had teams that overachieved and played their a** off on defense, shortest team in D1 and they won 20. This team has loads more talent, and let's remind ourselves, we start 3 sophomores & a freshman. Should be heady days ahead Husker fans!

Beating a Keith Appling-less MSU squad this weekend would really help the cause. Payne will give us fits, but Harris has been in a slump. IU and even Chief Illiniwek on the road will be tough...... but, that's why they play the games, right? Ya never know.

They all bawled like babies in the locker room after the game, let's recall we were up by 30 at one point. Even at our lowest moments ( Michigan last week?) we always take our ass whuppins' like a man.

Any reference to the Illini crying like little school girls makes me smile...

I'm sure we all knew there would be a steep learning curve for young Tai, but frankly he looks overwhelmed right now. I expected him to get better as the year went on and really be an asset by now, that's not happening. I think most of it is a between the ears issue. Let's hope he gets salty for the stretch run.

Was glad to see Illinois won yesterday, that might make 'em a little sassy comin' into our house. This game will probably be tougher than it should, but we HAVE to get the win.

Cornhuskers 62 - 55

You're starting backcourt went 1 for 6 from the field last night. Ray's season long disappearing act continues, and Tai couldn't knock down a jumper if you paid him money. This certainly isn't the ONLY reason we lost, but this type of production is inexcusable.

I believe we've won 4 of our last 44 Conference road games. This one was as ugly as last call at the old Royal Grove. Let's get one on Saturday Huskers, Northwestern aint' the Globetrotters.

Couldn't agree more. Not to disparage his game, but 6'6" guys like Petteway are a dime a dozen in the NBA.

Wow, thanks for all the great info and feedback fellas. My Senior year with the Wildcats we lost 61-60 at Aurora. Always one of my very favorite gyms to play in. And yes, he touched many lives...

This kid can shoot it, and he's big enough to get it off from inside or out. Should be a HUGE plus for us off the bench the rest of the way.

No Lynn Farrell on your like list Handy. Likes/Liked Nee, Coach K, McGuire, Miles, Hartman. Dislikes/ed all of the coaches that beat Nebraska but mostly Stewart, Sutton always looked like he was gonna cry. Motta A Norm Stewart look alike. And that guy that liked to throw chairs. Are you old enough to remember coach Holiday at Aurora? He was quite a character, and had a solid program for many years.
