Let's say Beard is cleared of any wrong doing. LEt's also say there's an opening this year or next at NU. Let's also say Trev is still the AD. I don't see Beard fitting the criteria he laid out when hiring the football coach, which I would expect to be similar to what he'd look for in hiring a basketball one. I don't think Beard will be a serious candidate here in the near future. Probably ever.

Thx. Frankly, I'll believe it when I see it, though I could see an argument that would be the best case scenario for all parties involved. If we're looking at serious candidates if that were to happen, *my* first two calls would be to Craig Smith and Darian Devries. Both might hang up the phone, but then again, they might not. If not them, I'd love to see the basketball team break the color barrier at NU. WRT to the condition Miles left the program in, there's a definite argument to be made that the program was in a bad spot. I'm of the opinion that has more to do with the athletic directors than it did Miles but I won't go into all that here. Miles was able to do things (NCAA Tournament appearance and most conf wins in a season) here that nobody else was able to do this century. That should have counted for more than it did, IMO.

Been a rough year for getting chatter's started. Thanks y'all for picking up the slack! How great was last night! Creighton and Iowa in the same month! -

I only got to see overtime of this one but twitter tells me the refs had a rough day. If the foul on Wilcher at the end is any indication, that's a tough pill to swallow. Walker is a load. Sam is fearless. Tominaga is too. This team may just have something here. Rest up, take it out on KState next week.

That's actually an easy choice. Iowa loss all day, every day.

Sounds fun. Maybe it happens, but future opponents will be more than willing to play Big Ten basketball, something Creighton wasn't. NU's a better *team* than they were last year, but they're still under talented relative to the conference. The adjustments Hoiberg and co have made have me really encouraged, but the mountain is still tall they're trying to climb.
-
The other adjustment they've made is to slow way down. According to Kenpom, this year's is exactly as efficient as last year's. The offense was horrific the first month or so of the season then really pick things up. Hopefully that happens again. But last year, they were top 20 in tempo. This year, they're 291. Creighton made adjustments to take Tominaga and Wilcher out of he game. Walker and Griesel made them pay big time. I'd expect future teams to adjust to try to slow down SG and DW. That should open up things for the shooters again. It'll be up to them to knock down those opportunities. We're not going to do this with a regular guy who makes dynamic plays for himself. Walker will probably be the closest thing we have to a steady scorer, but he's not going to create his own offense like Bryce did last year. It's going to be by committee.

Credit Woodson for not taking the bait on the Arizona question at least -

Unless I missed it, there were more questions in here about their game on Saturday than he was about their game on Wednesday. -

Of all the nights to get stuck and not able to post the chatter! Man, what a win! That was sweet! And a huge momentum game for Big Red. I'm going to enjoy this one for a long time! GBR! -

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 15, ed 3: @ St. John's

I hear you, but I saw a lot of things in the first half that go a long way towards winning games. They played defense, rebounded and were aggressive. Obviously, they have to make more shots. They did basically none of those things in the second half. If they do more of what they did in the first half for 30+ minutes a game, something they're capable of doing, I believe, they'll win some games, especially at PBA. Getting DW back will help a ton. Kieta is fighting the JUCO transition. They won't face many defenses that frenzied, either. -
There's only 5 or 6 of these games a year. Lots of teams get left out from year to year.
