  1. No it wasn't. We made it to the Big Ten title game. And, all things considered, we got a fairly favorable hoops sked his year with a home and home vs. PSU, home vs. NW and only one gm vs. Indiana and Mich. We just aren't a good team, that's not the conference's fault.
  2. In and of itself, no, but there were several factors that went into this one, the quick turnaround is just one of them.
  3. I'm not going to give you heat for it, but I don't think it's ever as easy as saying one team showed up and the other didn't, usually. A lot of factors went into this one. The biggest is that the Badgers are a damn good team.
  4. The depth is a bigger issue than the athleticism. The five that started are athletic enough, but there has to be more than those five or they'll hit a will pretty quickly, especially when the home team has five days off. I'm not saying they're athletic as the top teams in the league, but they're not unathletic.
  5. Welp, that was ugly. - Six man rotation not gonna be enough. - I know Almedia isn't good and was hurt, but we gotta have him get a few minutes or these last three games are gonna be ugly. A five and a half man rotation can work for a half or a game or perhaps even two, but it's not condusive for sustained success unless they're elite players, which our guys aren't. - Wisconsin is just good, especially at home. Sometimes I wonder if the Big Ten will get six teams to the sweet 16. - Dekker's gonna have a huge career for Wisconsin. - He's gonna get a hard time for it, I'm sure, but props for Evans for putting the pride aside to go with the jump shot free throw. - I don't really know what to say about the Huskers tonight. They were just out manned in about every phase. - Doesn't help when we've don't know how to execute a 4 on 2 break, though. - Sloppy with the ball, too. - Just no answer for Wisconsin's length. - Given the Huskers shorter than normal bench, short turnaround and the Badgers having five days to prepare, this outcome really shouldn't be shocking to anyone. I'm done. Rant away, fellas. This post has been promoted to an article

  7. As Norm says all the time, it's a message board, we can speculate about the improbably all we want. We can look ahead and deal with the hypothetical with little consequence. The players and coaches shouldn't, but we can. Not a big deal.
  8. Doc will get another shot if he wants it, but it won't be at a major school.
  9. True, but that varies from year to year depending on how many upsets there are in the lower conferences. There are often teams at .500 or better left out of the tournament. It's happened to us before.
  10. If we finish over .500 we may be a bubble team in NCAA's or at least a high NIT seed... a .500 finish no matter how we achieve it would put us in the NIT in a heart beat. We play in the best basketball conference in the nation. That's nice, but we're not getting anywhere near the tourney without winning the conference tourney. Even making it to the finals doesn't put us there. A .500 record sneaks us into the NIT, maybe. Just getting to .500 doesn't guarantee we get in at all.
  11. For the NIT, yeah, have to get to .500 to get in. Not sure where our RPI is.
  12. It's not impossible, but they need three wins before the conference tournament to even be eligible. That's a pretty significant long shot with three road games still on the schedule.
  13. Still got one to go to get my conference prediction!
  14. I don't think you can discount the experience any sort of post season play could benefit guys like Shavon and Rivers. Learning how to make plays when the season is on the line is something this team still has to go through and any opportunity to get that experience should be considered, IMO.
  15. Of course it is. But, as Norm says all the time, this is a message board, it's ok to speculate about such things. So, barring the Georgia-esque miracle run through Chicago, the CBI is a pretty reasonable goal considering where we are in this season and that so many didn't think we'd see 10 wins this year.
  16. Were we even in on Woodbury?
  17. It has more to do with the B1G, not Nebraska's history. The Big East and Pac 12 have been sending teams there without any reservation. The Big Ten needs to get over itself.
  18. not much to gain from winning the tournament, less time to recruit, and possible risk of injury. The end of the season isn't really the time you're worried about season ending injuries. I, personally, think that any experience in post season play is good experience. The more we can get players in situations where it's win or go home, the better.
  19. Northwestern gets to go to Purdue today then hosts OSU and PSU before finishing at MSU. Very real chance NU gets the 10 seed.
  20. Personally, I'd like to see them take a CBI bid. I think it'd do this program and returning players good. No one outside of the program will remember they went to the CBI.
  21. ...But no Big Ten team has ever played in the CBI. Miles said on Friday that he didn't want NU to be the first team to do it. It's NIT (or better) or bust for this team. https://twitter.com/RobinWashut/status/305025578585710593
  22. There were a couple called in the act of shooting today that were a little sketchy, too.
  23. I tweeted about it when it happened. I don't think I've ever heard of that happening before. I to support the actions of the sound guy.
  24. Not really. He didn't play well today, but I still don't think he's been bad the past month or so.
  25. I'll give you that I haven't watched Iowa much this year, but Gesell was pretty damn steady today. Got his teammates in good position all day and was always under control In the second half they just didn't make shots.
