Can you see Kent and Matt in this situation
lang replied to Huskerpapa's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Funny, thanks for posting 'cw. I'm sure the official was far away by the time the color guy had his nicely done comments. -
Thanks Dave. I didn't get to see the game and only got to hear a few minutes on the radio. Reading your report actually leaves me encouraged. We all figured there'd be some outcomes like this. And, I think we'd all agree we probably thought there would have been more by now. I just hope the Huskers can keep fighting and pull out a few more ( an upset in the conf tourney would be nice too ) and finish the season with their heads held high.

Frazier is back next year. Frazier back, a transfer from Pitt, pretty sure a few good recruits....they are only getting better it appears to me. -

Nice discover Hugh, Shawn Redhage from Lincoln East. I guess he is now a naturalized citizen of Austrailia and still playing ball. -
I think to get the medical thing for the extra year, even that % played under has to be in the first 1/3 or so of the season ? I'm pretty sure he has played too late into the season.

RE--the Tim/Bo getting fired up discussion. This is what I said re this subject a week or two ago. It was specifically about giving it to the refs, but it applies to how Tim treats his players too I think.... TheGov21, on 17 Jan 2013 - 11:29, said: I'd be one of them for sure. No contradiction in my mind at all b/c NO comparison. You gotta know when and how and most importantly not get spittle on the guy AND not come really close to bitting his nose AND not having the guy be so distracted by your behavior that he is not hearing you b/c he's standing there seriously wondering if you will literally explode. BTW, glad you got to go in person last night ! -

I had to smile when the crowd cheers as Miles calls a time out just to get in the middle of the floor and publically scream at his players. How many of those same people criticize Pelini for yelling a players in a less obvious way. Of course people do seem to let BB coaches get away with alot in that regard - assuming they like them to begin with at least. This is certainly an area where preconceived notions impact opinions and reactions. Nee used to get crap about language etc. toward the end of his tenure - if he had done then what Miles did today people would have raked him over the coals for it. ive heard this argument a few times on this board and ive never agreed with it. Miles does many things bo cant do, mainly be social media friendly and seem like a normal guy. Bo reminds me to much of NicK Saban and Bobby Knight constanly seems angry and someone who just goes off on small things, but i also like bo and bobby knight and saben as they know how to nip things in the butt when the situation happens and players follow suit. I dont think miles is that same coach I agree 100 % bobcat. I've had coments on this before here. There is no comparison between how Bo is and what Tim does IMHO. -

Yep, I remember that Dimes. I too, just assumed he was done for the day and was surprised when he came back in briefly. -
Yea, thanks for links Cip. I happended to glace over at the Hoppen's a few times yesterday. I couldn't help but remember a few times in Dave's career here when the other team was really full court pressing late out of desperation and Dave would fake at the half court and take off the other way and they'd throw him the bomb and he'd jam it home. Pretty cool that he's a season ticket holder and still supports the program.

And, that is why Tom had no choice but to make a change. Like it or not a coach has a few years to get the ball rolling and if you can't see some real positives or a huge commitment to that guy, you know he won't be around. I can fully understand why Buddy and Mike Gessel didn't end up here.

I bet you're right. The crowd sure liked it when Miles gave the guys a chewing for not getting rebounds too. -

Great to get a nice solid win. Way to go guys ! If we hit our free throws, this thing looks REALLY impressive with the final score. If the boards at the game were correct, Shavon had 9 rebounds. Dylan was good today. Happy for him as he has been playing like he needs to make plays and he hasn't. Just seemed to let it come to him today and made good decisions and took good shots. Not sure what the circumstances were that put Menke in the game in the first half, but good for him. You think he was surprised and had his heart skip a bit when Miles called his name ? I started paying closer attention to Ray after I realized he was scoreless. I was thinking that he must not be feeling well by his body language. Then he went off and started hitting the 3's. He's likely just mellow/even keeled by nature. -
'cwg says "all is well" -- that's good news for me...thanks for your kindness sir ! I won't be able to be there Saturday....serious bummer....cheer extra loud as usual.

huskercwg, It's a philosphical discussion that I made personal (wasn't intended for you specifically btw)...which was a mistake in this case for sure as I have huge respect for you for example. This kind of discussion can be dissected many different ways. I will just restate that IMHO there are better explainations for what happened than they weren't ready to play. I would 100 % agree that the team and coach cannot give themselves a pass or make excuses. They have to keep fighting and believing. By the way, I was right there with you to the end Tuesday night yelling and cheering right to the end. Feeling like a flee on an elephant's back mind you, but still supporting our team. I'm with you bro----lang

Amen...I can relate. Are these guys (refs) out to get us or what Re last night--It sure seemed, looking through my Husker glasses, that everytime we really had a chance to get really back into it... a bad call just killled the momentum. "OK, you Huskers, get back in your place. That's close enough".
-
I'm actually pretty happy with the mostly fairly reasonable replies on this thread ( I know, who the flip cares). I'm so sick and stinking tired of the " they weren't ready to play" crap. Folks, we have a million things working against us and these young men are giving it their all. Does that mean that these guys can't learn and improve and pull out a few more ? Of course they could. But to sit there here and question their effort and readiness is obsurd when there are far better explainations for the losses. And I don't care if the coach and players " are saying it themselves". The players tend to have a very different view of their team than any fan or outsider does. So they are fishing for reasons and that's just fine. Whatever keeps them motivated and hopefull is good at this point, even if it's bad sports cliches. As far as coach, he's gotta keep them and him going too. He is doing what he's got to do. So if we get beat by teams that have more talent, more rest, better shooters, deeper bench, better athletes...I don't stinking care how hard you play or how much you want it, if we aren't getting some breaks, getting some calls, getting some shots to fall....it aint happening. Can we just support these guys please !!!
-
Really great to see....thanks for posting this !

IIRC, Eric opened his Sr year with back to back 30 point games. I thought here we go this guys really going to a stud this year. He ended up with a good year, not great though. I remember being very surprised that he stuck on with the Jazz that next year.

Shields best true frosh since _______________
lang replied to Fullbacksympathy's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I think both Strick and Jamel had their frosh big games of 28 points vs Missouri ? Am I remembering the point total and opponents correct ? Tyron's 30 was against Oregon ? Btw, Shavon is the rich man's Ryan Anderson -
The gaps are filled....thanks guys !!

Have you tried duct tape? chuckle, chuckle...o cip, you keep this board this board many things...fun being one !
-
C'mon I hang on every word...I need a little more context as I didn't really hear the lead in question and circumstances.
-
My kid said something to me during the post game on radio ( so I was distracted ) when they asked Shavon something about coach saying something to him or the team and Shavon said something like I can't say what he said or something like that ? Is that vague enough But anyway can someone fill in the blanks for me ?
