They don't do it blind, though...because they talk about eye test....etc...so if they know the teams, they know the standings....all the members on the committee have had conference affiliations at some time, and understand how hard it is to finish high in a conference standing. I also don't think Nebraska had a poor nonconference...they just didn't manage to get that win or two that would have made a statement.

My thought is....Indiana beating ohio state helps us...because standings matter...even if they say they don't. If Nebraska finishes in 4th or 5th ahead of ohio state,Iowa, and/or Minnesota...I don't see how the committee takes teo teams below Nebraska into the dance....only to leave us out.

Truth, about tough draws. Purdue, if Hammond has a great game and they find a way to use him....can probably beat anyone in the conference in a one game opportunity.

It is tonight to call...if Wichita state less in conference tourney, or a sleeper wins the acc tourney, things like that can slide down teams in the last four in. Root for chalk...in conference tourneys....especially one bid conferences where the reg season champ will get an at large if they get upset.

I think if we beat Wisconsin, most of this does not matter. However, if we beat Indiana, lose to Wisconsin, and win only one in the big ten tourney.... We will be very close and any little tick up in metrics could be the difference.

In the three conference games today.... I think that it helps if the teams we played twice win...helping our RPI ever so slightly....but we are very close, so every bit counts. Penn state beating Wisconsin Purdue beating Iowa No preference in Indiana and Ohio state game. The teams we play twice...count as two wins in rpi calculations....or two losses if they lose.

Benny played fine but not sure he was the reason we won this game. Yes, but without him....we probably lose....

Well, Nebraska winning out and Wisc losing 1 go hand in hand. My scenario of Nebraska as the 2 seed needs Wisconsin losing 1 plus losing to us.... Basically to get Nebraska to a 2 seed, all home teams win out, except Nebraska beats Indiana, Iowa beats Michigan state, and Illinois or Purdue beats Iowa.

Nebraska can still get the #2 seed... If Msu loses out, Iowa loses one, Wisconsin, loses 1, and ohio state loses 1.....if Nebraska wins out. Not impossible

You're right. I made a pretty blanket statement. If it's physically hard for people to stand for an entire game or if they need to leave early because of that, it's not those fans I was meaning to lump into a group....the kind of fans that have been coming to games even in the darkest days of Husker basketball. I think I get overly defensive of people getting chastised for not standing because my mother went to Nebraska basketball games for 25 years and towards the end, she couldn't stand for the entire game....but dang it, she went...when many others stayed home. My mom is no longer with us, but she and My dad went to every game (even the athlete's in action games) for 25 years....They saw some good teams, but saw some not so good teams, too. Now, my parents knew their strengths and weaknesses and managed to get seats where nobody could stand in front of them (they were in the front row next to rail above a gate....but not all fans are able to do that...My folks stayed in the C section to keep those seats even though they could have moved into the B section, because they knew their limitations. I go to football and basketball games...I stand when others stand, I sit when others sit...but I tell you when two people are standing...and the only twopeople in the entire section are standing....I really don't get it....(to me they are just being inconsiderate to others rather than supporting the team)

Maybe she's just typical of what a lot of Husker fans have become, more interested in style over substance.I was making assumptions based on the fact that the poster above had made assumptions as well.I have no problem with this chant...I think it is always better to cheer for your team than yell at the other...so this chant seems like a good idea to me. I just think that we can't scare off those fans that can't stand up all game...because often they support our program financially....and we need to be inclusive to build the program..

After the next couple of games, I think you will see teams like Iowa move down to a bubble team. I can easily see them losing 3 of the next 4.....@ Indiana, purdue, @Michigan State and Illlinois. If they have 4 home losses in the Big Ten...I don't think they are a lock. I think there may be some other teams that are featured as locks...that still have to take care of business to remain locks.

This is the fan who tells you that you're cheering too loud. This is the fan that leaves with 4 minutes to go when the game is tied. This is the fan that will only stand when a t-shirt is being fired into the crowd. This is also probably a fan that donates $1000s of Dollars to the athletic department, so we can Hire Quality coaches like Tim miles, build practice facilities, and buy out coaches like Doc which all allow us to have something to cheer for. So, it takes all kinds...if we only had people that just bought a ticket and yelled loud....we probably won't end up with much to cheer about.

Iowa could lose at Indiana this week and still got to msu. Finish at home against Illinois....that game could be huge...lose and they could be in trouble.... Also have Purdue at home...

What is the best conference record of a Big ten team to be left out of the tournament in the last ten years? I think Nebraska went 10-6 in the Big 12 one year and it was the first time a Big 12 team was left out winning 10 games.

The team is what the team is. Effective coaching is using the strengths of the players on your roster to benefit the team. When Biggs was on the team, miles tried yo use him as an fife dive threat.... He uses Parker as a spark plug...he plays the minutes he plays, and he if he can give the team a spark that is what is needed.

If you want to play your starters to the end...fine, but you have to still enforce your fundamentals and game plans. Including shot selection and defensive intensity. Otherwise, let the managers and walkons play, if you are just going to let guys jack up shots...heck I am available if all you need is a shooter with no conscience and a guy who is two seconds too late on defense.

Hawkins made some shots, but saying he played well is a stretch. He didn't move well without the ball....his first two shots were ugly form wise...the first one he made, you could tell it was going in at the release, very nice form on that shot. We have do many shots come up short...do we have some dead legs on the team right now...I am not a believer in too many game minutes causing thus...but practice, cardio and lifting schedules are something that worry me more than game minutes.

Yes,I was not impressed with coaching tonight. You have to bench guys when they continually take horrible shots....or why would they quit taking them I think the group I play with at the north Ymca in davenport Iowa would have run Nebraska out of the gym tonight....

I would gave like to see benching the main players for four minutes and run out the walkons. Embarrass the starters a little bit, they never improved shot selection or upped their defensive intensity. You are down 30+ put in 5 guys that bust their butt in practice and see if they can provide. Some energy

I live in Eastern Iowa and am going to be able to make it to the game on Tuesday night as I will be in Nebraska for work on Tuesday. I am looking for tickets on stub hub.. Prices are dirt cheap up high and some are pricy down low. For those that went, will I be disappointed if I sit in any particular place for a game...or is it a venue that has no bad seats, just get in the door.
