  1. Wow! I did not know that. That is awesome! Walker is now my favorite player.
  2. I think Walker would probably move on too because this year will be his 5th. I think PG,PF and SG would be the order to fill IMHO at this moment in time.
  3. I think it's a safe, solid hire for these reasons. 1) Trev is already familiar with the boosters in Omaha. There will be some crossover to Nebraska-Lincoln because of football. He also will be familiar with old-time Lincoln boosters and greater (rural) Nebraska boosters from his playing days. He understands the culture of this state and what Lincoln is about. Already travels in the right circles. 2) This is a destination job for him and he is fairly young yet. They shouldnt have to redo this process for another 15 tears or so. 3) 12 years of experience as A.D of Omaha is good experience. He has shown he can make tough decisions and weather them. Bringing in hockey was extremely smart. That's a sport Omaha owns. They don't have to compete with Lincoln&football. They don't have to compete with the Creighton/Lincoln for basketball. I am not sure I am explaining it well but for me hockey in Nebraska makes me think MAV'S. He did well in establishing the Omaha brand and he does compete in Basketball but he doesn't have to 'own' it as they have something to hang their hat on day in and day out. Do I make any sense? 4) I don't think the athletic department is broken. They don't need to make a lot of changes or cause waves. I believe Trev will be able to hit the ground running. He will make small positive changes I am sure. He'll put his stamp on it but he doesn't need to change the brand or start over. From the amount of times that they recognized Klassy, I'd say he was a strong finalist. I hope he stays with the program. Sounds like an outstanding individual.
  4. Going to miss Delano. Guy has a unique skill set and has lots of room to grow yet.
  5. Interesting addition. I like the fact that he is a grad transfer and adds experience to the team especially at the ball handler spots. I think it increases the flexibility of the lineup as the backcourt is flush now and players can spill over to the wings if necessary. I always like to think teams should be filled from the edges in. (Get your ball handlers and bigs squared away and then fill in the inner spots.)
  6. True. Plus & minuses.
  7. I like your idea about limiting over dribbling. I am fine with the double bonus though as it helps cut down on the hacking. Here is a comparison of FIBA/NBA/College. After looking through them, I have to say overall I like the FIBA rules best https://www.fiba.basketball/rule-differences
  8. Wow. Wish I knew those 3 things 40 years ago. I can't chip at all.
  9. https://www.golfchannel.com/video/brooks-koepka-frustrated-fans-18-pga-championship 16 seconds in. https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/31500777
  10. Congrats to Shannon. Hoiberg continues to work to build the program.
  11. The PGA needs to rein in the fans. The walk to the green turned into a crush and was kind of dangerous. Mickelson stumbled slightly as some yahoo tried to put his arm around him and was pushed away by security. Mickelson&Koepka can do without mosh pits., can't let this happen again. Keep them behind the ropes until the players are on the green. (edited)
  12. Read on another site that he has a tear in his knee - meniscus.
  13. Have to disagree with this line of thought. They have to have some sort of penalty otherwise they would be hacking people left and right.
  14. I think the stuck ball going to the defense is a great suggestion.
  15. New rule proposals and discussions. What are thoughts on these proposals. I have posted my initial reaction in red. Reserve the right to change my mind! https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-rule-changes-up-for-debate-six-fouls-quasi-quarters-reducing-timeouts-and-more/ Likely to be recommended Laptops, tablets allowed on the bench for coaching purposes only I have no stand on this. Tweak traveling interpretation to universally allow players to Euro step, use spin moves and step-backs They do that already. They also carry and palm the ball! Unlikely to be recommended Widening the lane to 16 feet (currently 12 feet). Would be okay I think. Award possession to defense after a held-ball. I like the alternate rule. Eliminate 10-second backcourt rule. On the fence.... Allow offensive team to decline free throws in final two minutes and overtime(s); opt for inbound instead. Very interesting! Eliminate five-second closely guarded rule. I am a little concern that they are eliminating all rewards for defense (except for jump balls) Allow instant replay on shot-clock violation in final two minutes/overtime on a missed shot I am fine with that. Allow instant replay on basket interference/goaltending calls -- but only if/after an official calls the violation I am fine with that. Potential for two-year NIT trial period Two-timeout limit per team with under two minutes in regulation and throughout overtime(s) No from me. Eliminate offensive basket interference and use FIBA rule instead: ball is always live after it makes contact with the rim NO! Big debates await Introduce quasi quarters by resetting team fouls at 10-minute mark of each half. Begin double bonus on fifth foul within each 10-minute segment. This eliminates the one-and-one free throw. NO! Modified six-foul rule: player is allowed three fouls per half (would be disqualified if they committed four fouls in a half). However, a player can commit two or three first-half fouls and have as many four or three more to use for the remainder of the game, allowing for six total. No! Keep it simple!
  16. Every time I see this thread, the thread title makes me think he committed to Omaha. I know better but it just looks that way.
  17. This roster shouldn't have any depth issues at any spots. PG's,Wings & Bigs, we should have it covered.
  18. I wish him the best of luck. He should be able to score a nice contract overseas.
  19. Bryce is a player. Like others have said I can't wait to see him&Trey play together.
  20. This may seem like an odd lineup but I wanted to go with FT shooters. I am banking we get to the line where I can sub out guys or we make a shot vs a miss. I am kind of iffy on it. Lakes and Edwards are my bubble choices. Wilcher just missed the cut. Breidenbach was 2nd man out Tominaga - 85% Ft Can help handle the ball, but I expect bringing the ball up would be a team effort. I don't think they will foul this guy. He just needs to be sure not to get trapped. They can run a play for him if they want him to shoot it. Great range, he stretches the defense out so I like him in this situation. Will sub him out when we have to go on defense. Bryce McGowens - 76% Shoots a LOT of FT's. Long and can handle the ball decently. He can create and get his own shot off if needed at the end of the shot clock. Edwards 73% Ft. Long, all-around player who Shot the 3 well in High School(over 40%). I strongly considered Wilcher here but I don't know what Wilcher's FT% is. I bet it's good but I am not going to take a chance until I know for sure. Lakes 75% Ft Ft&Shooting. Playing the odds that I would be able to sub in a defensive guy if needed. Wanted guys that could shoot&handle the ball on the floor. Another guy that can stretch the floor. Breidenbach was also a consideration but I don't know his FT% either. Doh! Thought Lakes would be a better ball handler than Wilhelm in this situation. Lat 77.8% Ft Best returning FT shooter and gives the lineup some size for return D and rebounding, if we miss or don't get a chance to sub in. It's a no brainer. Kojenets shoots FT's at a 73% clip and got some consideration as he could give you rebounding and defensive. It would allow you to play Lat at the 4. Ultimately I decided that I would bank on getting a chance to sub in a defensive guy and I want some guys that can guard inside or outside. ============ Forgot to circle a guy. I'll go with Tominaga launching a Nate Johnson 30 foot shot. Splash! Nothing but the inside bottom of the net, crowd goes wild.
  21. The baseball team is doing great so far and are fun to follow. In some ways Coach Bolt and staff benefited from the covid year. They got to go through fall and then play a handful of games in 2020 before the season was cancelled. The NCAA then permitted the extra eligibility. This gave Bolt and staff a chance to reset and address some things. The returning seniors have been a great benefit. It's been fun. They also benefitted by picking up Anderson due to A&M's roster crunch. (I tip my hat to Coach Childress here for giving Coach Bolt a head's up.) I hope they can keep it up. I think they can. Winning is fun. GBR.
  22. My fault. I am not a good communicator. I went back and put more detail in explaining each column.
  23. Out of curiosity I counted all the players on our rosters from 2000-2020/21 Total number of players on the roster is the first number. 2nd number is the number of rosters of that roster size. I identified the year for the extreme cases. So the first line is a 12 player roster and we only had 1 roster of that size. 12 - 1 (2006) 13 - 0 14 - 2 15 - 6 16 - 5 17 - 4 18 - 1 (2010) 19 - 1 (2007) 20 - 1 (2008) 15 is probably the sweet spot because that's how many you can dress for a game. If you have more than those guys are definitely in street clothes (redshirt status). (13 scholarships & rest walkon's) I know one year under Doc there were guys that were filling out the practice squad that weren't on the roster. That probably was 2006 & Doc's first year. I also remember him commenting about the roster being a little too big which was probably when they had 20 in 2008. It appears 15-17 players is the most common range.
  24. I would say 15 or 16 players on a roster is fairly normal and you definitely can use them. You need 5-7 guys for a scout squad and basketball always has it's fair share of rolled ankles and bad knees. Plus it's during flu season so sometimes guys are out for 3 or 4 days.
