  1. Here's a 247 scouting blurb https://origin-assets.247sports.com/Player/Eduardo-Andre-46085231 and LJS https://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/huskers-new-2020-big-man-andre-grew-up-playing-soccer-but-has-fallen-in-love/article_4f167ad3-2ff4-503f-938d-10bd16927723.html Guys who played soccer as youths usually are comfortable in running the floor. Lot of running in soccer.
  2. Cool! Welcome Eduardo! As pointed out we didn't see any outside shots but based off of the single freethrow he looked to be comfortable shooting. Bounce the ball 2 times, set and then release shot with smooth, relaxed form. I will look for some stats to see what we have there. Here's another article or two.. https://n.rivals.com/news/nebraska-adds-promising-2020-big-man-eduardo-andre https://www.si.com/college/bostoncollege/basketball/boston-college-center-eduardo-andre-offer
  3. With Tominga,Lakes, Lat and Allen as shooters they should really get good spacing. That gives guys like Banton, King and McGowen room to slash to the basket.
  4. Never thought about his defense affecting his offense which certainly can happen. Good thought.
  5. I was shocked that Kavas didn't shoot well given his history. I think maybe he rushed his shots the past year due to the competition. I also wonder if the change in the 3-pt distance had an impact. Maybe he was dialed into a distance? Have to think it was mental. Maybe crowd size? I think Lakes may be a little different as he seems to be able to hit from any distance and he gets his shot off fairly quick. That's my hope.
  6. I love this pickup. I like the fact that he is sitting out the first year. That will give him time to adjust to B1G caliber athletes and learn the system. Love the fact that he is a smart player and a shooter with unlimited range.
  7. I absolutely have no idea. I am as unplugged as a guy can be. If I could get survive without my Huskers sports, a/c, groceries store, indoor plumbing and hot&cold potable water and the occasional forey to a tackle store I would be off the grid.
  8. Cross is in the portal because: Door 1: He was encouraged to transfer. Staff feels pretty good with their options at the PF spot. Door 2: It's mutual. Staff will try to upgrade to get a better shooter or a stronger post. Door 3: Cross was not encouraged. He just split.
  9. I'd go with Mary Ann and Agnetha. I do not like Frida's curls and hair color in the waterloo video. I don't think that was a good look for her. I do like her though in other videos when her is straight and darker colored
  10. When I saw this I immediately thought it was due to lack of FT attempts. After researching though I found out I was wrong. It's due to lower 3pt attempts. He only took 28 treys. I imagine if he took more 3attempts than the numbers would even out. (ie go down) MIN FGM FGA FTM FTA 3PM 3PA PTS OR DR REB AST TO STL BLK 1057 208 373 93 160 12 28 521 52 152 204 66 106 28 15 After watching video and seeing the Turnover to assist rate and the FT% I think there are other players that are a better fit.
  11. 2nd time its been mentioned but I can't read it enough. Having 3 transfers running the offense in practice with two walk-ons and OFTEN beating game starters handily starts a drool response as my brain struggles to comprehend. Reminds me back when Pike was a RS.
  12. I get what you are saying but I think the new body narrative has changed at least some because at this particular time they have 7 returning players. Yes some were sitting out but Banton,Stevenson and Walker played a lot of ball together on scout and with the other returners when they didn't have to run scout. Thor,Yvan,Cross all got significant time in the rotation. Arop also returns and was mixed in scout with a splash of playing time. We are adding 5 players maybe 6. So I wouldn't necessarily say they will have 8 'new' bodies if you consider experience in practice with the new system and teammates. So I am saying at most you could have 6 but right now it's 5. Guess it just depends on how you look at it. Practice is not game experience but it's not 'new' stage either. Just my humble opinion. It's a good question.
  13. We probably do not talk enough about Lat. He is a player that going to help our rebounding and is a good fit for Hoiberg's offense. Going to be lots of competition for playing time next year.
  14. Thanks for the report. Love getting first hand observations. Sounds like he would be a great fit. I like the way he crashes the boards and attacks as a trailer. That can make him effective offensively against B1G competition because if he doesn't have the strength to hold position down low then he can pick his spots & attack from outside in, which also is a fit in Hoiberg's scheme. He also shows some touch with semi jump hook shots off the bank board. Good to use the bank board above the block. Looks like a natural.
  15. I like your point about pairing with Tominaga. A couple of zone busters on the outside will really complement Mcgowen's game. Plus he has a year to dial in the 3pt shot to self compliment his driving skills. I wonder how many players were affected last year by the new 3 pt line and I wonder if shot % will inch back up overall? Was impressed by how well McGowen played the passing lanes on D.
  16. Good pickup. He will drop right into the rotation to replace Webster and gets a sit-out year to fine tune his game.
  17. When Matt A was doing his radio interview he talked about Banton and just from his description of what he brought to the table he made it sound like he would be one of the ball handlers to me. He also said their offense likes multiple ball handlers so that opens up the door to a variety of possible lineups. The thing I like about Banton is that he not only fits well within the offensive scheme his length will allow him to guard all those different positions as well. I disagree a little with Matt on the rebounding. I think it is hard to run and get into a transitional offense if you can't rebound. If you have a team that can generate steals you can get by perhaps. Also if you can't rebound your giving up 2nd chance points on both ends of the court so the only way to win is to never miss and hope they miss their bunnies. I thought that was our problem last year. IMHO every team needs at a minimum a few ball handlers and a few bigs. And when I say bigs I mean players that can rebound and defend down low.
  18. After seeing Otchere's numbers I wondered about the offer but I get it after seeing video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4LGGIRYkwQ
  19. Wow. That is a really good point and sobering. It's kind of crazy if you ask me.
  20. On paper looks like a nice player to add but I am going to pass after seeing this. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/28534617/illinois-alan-griffin-ejected-stepping-chest-purdue-sasha-stefanovic He not only stepped on the guy, he threw a palm blow to the guy's groin prior to that. Shades of Brad Davidson? Pass.
  21. That's what James Palmer was really good at. He was good at finishing. Jeter was also pretty good at that if I recall correctly. Petteway was too. Big10 is a physical league. It's probably why the do well in the NCAA tournament.
  22. I think Hoiberg is a good coach. Glad we have him. If I were to critique his efforts this year (as an uninformed fan) I would point at shot selection by his players and player roles. So what I am thinking is you have some guys are taking way too many 3's when either they should stay with driving to the hoop or setting screens or crashing boards. They just don't shoot well enough for me to get a green light other than taking the occasional 3. The other is jacking up 3's from long long range or taking contested 3's or shooting 3's with no rebounders or crashers. The problem with my critique is that Hoiberg's offense demands that all his players or at least 4 of the 5 be able to shoot the ball and to play at a fast tempo. So I am trying to adjust to the philosphy. I would still like Hoiberg to better define player's roles in this offense to the skills that they can execute.
  23. Wow these numbers are interesting! He clearly shot better on the central to left side of the court(facing the basket) I wonder what that is about? Am I jumping to a conclusion?
  24. Me too! I find it a bit disappointing but onward we go. Hard to say what the impact is until the entire roster shakes out with adds&subtractions.
  25. I did forget King. Shoot. Was going to put him in a separate category as incoming but unknown for first year eligibility and forgot.
